  1. Consider me a bit skeptical at the moment. But I have to be honest - at this point - I would turn down a Husker offer. I was born and raised here, and have been going to games since 1986. I actually think I like Nebrasketball more than I like Husker Football. But at this point, if I was a top prep prospect, even in state, I think I would tell Coach Hoiberg, "thank you, but no thank you." For my hypothetical - I am an out-of-high school, scholarship-worthy player, not a "leave after first year as an NBA prospect," but I've certainly been recruited because I have the size/skill to play at this level. Let's call me, "Isaiah Bass," from Great Peninsula, Nebraska. If I were to say yes, here's the questions/concerns I would need answered/addressed before I committed: 1. Who the hell else is going to be on my team from year to year? I plan on being here 3-4 years. This is my team, my family, the people I am going to spend the most time with. Is every year going to be like Freshman Orientation at the dorm? 2. Are you committed to developing me and letting me learn/grow? Or am I going to be shown the door after year 1-2 because I did not come in completely ready-made? 3. Will I be surrounded by high character guys? Or are you going to be brining a bunch of dudes in who have been shown the door at other places? 4. Am I going to be recruited-over every single year? I understand the job is to bring in the best players you can and build the best team you can. But I'm not feeling a lot of confidence when I notice you've contacted EVERY SINGLE KID IN THE TRANSFER PORTAL. What say you? You in no matter what? Are my questions unfounded? Are they legit?
  2. Saw that. Agreed. Intriguing prospect tbh. Kind of reminds me of a big Gonzaga would get.
  3. I'm only 1 minute into his "highlight" tape - and it's missed buckets?
  4. All the difference in the world, my wife says.
  5. Every year, tournament success is used to define whether a conference was good or not. And every year that is a silly metric to use.
  6. When I learn to read I will check it out.
  7. Hopefully Jasen keeps growing. Because while I think he is a stud, his game and athleticism is more of a swing-4 than it is a 3-wing. Could be super effective if it's 6'8" or whatnot... But if he's 6'6"-6'7" I'm not sure if it'll work out.
  8. Welcome back, Special Assistant Danny Nee.
  9. Agreed. Especially with the egregious caricature the Cleveland Indians had as a mascot.
  10. And this is the way to do it.
  11. I'm not sure this board is the place for this... but I do really love all you guys and you seem like super rational, fun people. Anyways, I have never known where to stand on this issue. And I am admittedly a bit more "left-leaning," and "progressive." But some of this worry seems like a bit too much? I think "Redskins," the one that started all of this, was highly offensive and that kinda shoulda been an open and shut "case." But like, Warriors, Chiefs, Indians, Braves, Seminoles, etc....? I don't know? I am also a Social Studies teacher - so I am well versed and well aware of the historical context and monstrosities committed by American settlers and the American Government. I guess I would just ask - where is this coming from? Is it coming from the tribal councils themselves? If so, probably important that we address this and I agree, phase this stuff out. But is it just coming from a bunch of "woke-twitter-types?" I don't know... interesting, nuanced issue.
  12. I hope he goes somewhere with a tough-minded, hold you accountable, defensive minded coach. Because he could be elite.
  13. It's completely uncanny. You could chalk it up to just "being athletic," but he also does this against elite AAU competition.
  14. This is also a guy you can bring back with zero risk of creating chemistry issues. He's mature, older, and not transferring. So you know he's going to put his best foot forward whether he plays 25 minutes or 2 minutes.
  15. Does he shoot it well? I see him make tough 2’s a lot, but I’ve seen very few kick out 3’s. Most has to be off the dribble, right? Also, if he’s a point guard....... he’s got some work to do. Johnson is the point guard on that team and without him, they don’t win that game. Sallis struggled when asked to bring it up two years in a row now. Sallis is super confusing to me. I’ve watch him play on TV and in person a lot. Never come away super impressed with his strictly basketball ability. I’ll watch him and go, “that’s a 5 star, eh?” And then I’ll look at the box score and he had 25/8/5 lol. Then I won’t watch and see he puts up 30+ against Oak Hill.. So I dunno man. All I know is I’ve seen a dude get his pocket picked left and right when asked to bring the ball up the court two years in a row now and not guard hardly anyone. But then again, he fills up the stat sheet.
  16. This is kinda goofy, but whatever. Glad to have him back.
  17. I was only 4-5 and I can vividly remember my dad being super pissed we couldn't watch the game and had to go to his mother's (my grandma's) house for some family thing. He sat by the radio the whole time.
  18. I think Dru is better than Keisei Tominaga.
  19. I am biased, but TJO is good. Really good.
  20. No can do! The voices won't let me.
  21. Hope he ends up at UNO
  22. 6'6"... 6'7"ish... Nice looking stroke. Handles it well. Not flashy... Fits into Fred's System... SOUNDS LIKE ANOTHER HUSKER GREAT IF YOU ASK ME!!! Reference picture.
  23. I think when you watch him next year you will have a completely different opinion of him. Just a hunch.
  24. Hopefully him leaving fist is a sign of really good news, aka Eddy and Walker are staying.
