  1. 5-13 vs top 200 RPI teams. Thank goodness we scheduled easy in the non-con and wound up with a relatively easy Big Ten schedule. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I have a tough time blaming the officials when you have a team that shot 27% from the field and half of their attempts came from three point land. Just brutal. And ugly...ugly basketball. It's looking like another year of under .500 ball. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. We shot 27% front the field...I repeat 27% from the field. Perhaps we can have some beef with officiating...but I suggest we start first with our inability to but the ball in the hoop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Like I said earlier..1. We better hope like hell no key players transfer. 2. Anton Gill better be the truth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Another home loss for Miles. Very very tough to take that next step when you can't beat average to good teams at home. Next three games we are underdogs....postseason play looking bleak in year 4. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hopefully for our sake....and Miles sake...Anton Gill is a stud. Just ugly...ugly basketball. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. NU-73 OSU 71 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Jealous. Solid competition and can't beat San Diego. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Huskers start out the year with a 4-0 win over Charleston. This would be a very nice series win to start the year of we can pull out 1 more W. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. If we finish 3-1...say beating OSU, PSU, NW and beat Ohio state again in the tournament that would leave us with a record of 18-14 and a RPI near 120 at that point. Tack on another win vs say...Iowa, that puts us at 105 for RPI. Now, that would be close to being in the discussion...but probably asking alot out of this team. Below is the latest NIT bracketology out of NYCBuckets who is usually pretty good...to put it in persective...Arizona St and Ole Miss are the two lowest seeded teams in the field right now. Both with RPI's in the low-mid 80's. Not 100% sure how they pick the NIT teams but we are 70 spots off that pace right now. It's more difficult to get into the NIT now as any team that wins their regular season conference title but does not get selected to the Big Dance gets an invite to the NIT automatically. http://www.nycbuckets.com/2016/02/nit-bracketology-feb-17-2016/
  11. We will need to win out....and likely get 1-2 wins in the Big Ten to sniff the NIT at this point. Probably not going to happen. Hopefully we can just finish .500 or better and get into the Vegas 16 or the CBI.
  12. As I stated before the game...Indiana is one of the worst matchups for us in the conference and I expected a beatdown...especially with no Morrow or Shields. We are still last in the Big Ten in three point defense with other teams shooting at a 40% clip against us....11th in field goal pct defense with other teams shooting at a 46% clip against us. Is it our philosphy...the pack defense sure seems to give up a hell of alot of open three point looks. Is it personnel? Young guys still grasping how to play defense in this league? We are forced to double down quite a bit because we have trouble defending the post one on one. I'm going to go with mostly it's personnel and being a bit unlucky...last year we were first in the Big Ten in three pt defense. Hopefully as the young guys mature and get more time in the system we get back to playing solid D.
  13. We better figure it out then because he's a Senior. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Indiana shooting 60%....when does hiring a "defensive genius" in Molinari start to pay off? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. A 25 point game out of Watson with a morning headline stating "Yogi passes the torch to Watson" will do.
  16. You're taking the max possible of B1G teams making the tournament and the min possible of Big East teams between two conferences with non-equal amount of members as an argument? ATM Bracketmatrix.com has in 7 of 14 B1G teams (50%) 5 of 10 Big East teams (50%) I do think that the B1G is tougher than the Big East. However, it's still a power conference that is in the league of ACC, B1G, B12, SEC, etc. No, it is not a power conference along the lines of those leagues. Power conferences have great athletic programs. They generally have way more teams than the new watered down Big East. They are somewhere a notch below. How far below is debatable. But it is not even close to as good a conference as the ACC Big 10 Big 12 etc. Right now it is better than the SEC in basketball but it is cyclical and they typically aren't as good at the top anyway. This conference plays in no mans land on FS1 that is struggling mightily. Nothing screams power about it at all IMO. I would agree with this. Good league...but I think in most peoples eyes they are not a power conference compared to the likes of the Big Ten/ACC. The last current Big East team to win a National Title was Villanova and that was in 1985. The league needs to start producing come March and that likely starts with Villanova not pissing down their leg.
  17. In most years I think you would be correct. Not this year though. If we win out that gives us 3 top 50 wins...4 top top 100 wins. We would need to do some damage in the Big Ten Tournament. Look at our friends in Omaha...some pundits don't even have them on the bubble right now and they may very well end up with 11 Big East wins. The issue will be that out of those 11 wins...maybe only 2-3 were against top 50 teams.
  18. As I said, to me it's more important to know that they don't use that information in their discussions(even if it's available to them). Them not using conference record...or conference RPI in their discussions for that matter...really makes whether or not it's on their nitty gritty report a moot point. The discussion peaked my interest as I would have told you "as long as we finish top 6 in the Big Ten we are good." Not the case apparently.
  19. The article is linked....I don't believe he mentioned what is on their nitty gritty report. He indicated that conference record does not come up in the discussion. But, most cases...if you have a solid record in a power conference you likely have some good wins and a good resume. Obviously they have access to conference records...I'm sure Bruce has a computer or phone to access the records if it's not on his nitty gritty report. They may have access in their meetings, but it does not sound like conference record is part of the criteria in picking teams. You quoted my response to Pimp though did you not? Where I said he was wrong about them "literally not having that information in their packets". It seemed like you were making an ill fated attempt to prove me wrong on something. It didn't work, They do have that information available. Just like they have the RPI available and that isn't very important either. Not really trying to prove you wrong....just looking to get the correct information out there. But, per the below article you are wrong. FYI, I don't really care if it's on their nitty gritty report or not....I believe it's more important to know they don't use conference record in their criteria of picking teams....which is what I think Pimp was really trying to get at. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2387936-behind-the-scenes-how-the-ncaa-tournament-selection-committee-really-works
  20. Behind the Scenes: How the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee Really Works http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2387936-behind-the-scenes-how-the-ncaa-tournament-selection-committee-really-works "Likewise, they said, a conference's overall RPI would never be brought up, nor would where teams finished in their conference standings. Conference record doesn't even appear on the "nitty-gritty sheets" (similarly formatted to ESPN's) that committee members use for overviews of teams. So any time you hear someone talking about a team needing to get to .500 in Big 12 play or needing 12 Big Ten wins to get in, feel free to ignore it."

  22. The committee doesn't look at conference record. As in it is literally not on their information packets.Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk I think you take things you hear as being gospel a little too much regarding the selection process. And in this case, I believe you are flat out wrong. Every nitty gritty report replication that I have ever seen, which is a report that the selection folks have at their disposal, does include conference record. Since they are only replications, and not the actual report, it is possible that every place that replicates the report has always been wrong though. But it is very naive to suggest they committee has no idea what teams conference records are. If nothing else, it is a quick indication of how a team played the 2nd half of the season. Below is taken from Shatel's recent article with Bruce Rasmussen who is on the selection committee Number of conference wins: “It doesn’t come up. It’s hard to measure because it goes from league to league. Again, if you’re in a good league, and you win 10 games, you more than likely have some good wins. “But I go back to the Big Ten. Until this week, Indiana had not played any of the other top five teams in the Big Ten: Michigan State, Maryland, Iowa or Purdue. And they only play those teams a total of five times, whereas Wisconsin plays them nine times. “It’s hard to get a read on number of league wins with all the unbalanced schedules.” http://www.omaha.com/sports/shatel-february-is-fun-month-for-ncaa-hoops-hopefuls-with/article_93face11-ad61-51ee-9253-277e83dece00.html
  23. Andrew White is a stud......I hope going pro does not cross his mind after the season ends. Want to see him in Red for one more year.
  24. One of the tougher matchups for us in terms of style of play IMO.......if Shields and Morrow are out again I'm afraid this one may get ugly. Hope I'm wrong.
