official big 10 tourney bracket
huskerbaseball13 replied to FredsSlacks's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Yeah...probably couldn't have drawn it up any better if we are going to make it a run. The way this team is playing right now I'm afraid Rutgers is not going to be an easy out. -
Maybe I should as well...what's the point of checking your own profile though? I really don't know...and I have know idea what he's talking about in checking his profile every other day...but looking at ones profile is an easy way to find out what certain posters are saying. Not sure if that's easier or utilizing the search function. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Postseason Tickets (Home Games) - Deadline Monday
huskerbaseball13 replied to HuskerActuary's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I have a feeling that we might be waiting by the phone for awhile. I think that Vegas would snatch up as many Power conference teams as possible. I think the Vegas 16 may be our best landing spot if they want us. It may mean another game vs NW though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Get your resume sharpened up huskerbaseball13. Like you, I'm looking for a coach that has all the answers, and you seem to have them! Yeah right. Give us a break.I think it just needs to warm up outside...and then we will starting hitting shots.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk yeah right, you been on coach all season. and by the way why do you check my profile every other day? you would think that you could remember who I was and not have to check it all of the time. Well...we're not exactly lighting the world on fire....if Miles starts producing then I'll be his biggest fan! I'm not sure what you're talking about in regards to your profile...why are you checking your profile every day? You would think that you could remember what you previously posted without having to check your profile. Onward and upward(hopefully)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Get your resume sharpened up huskerbaseball13. Like you, I'm looking for a coach that has all the answers, and you seem to have them! I do know that Miles needs to have a big offseason as in no key departures....and he needs to find a legitimate big man or we will continue to hover around .500 ball. That's reality...and Miles is getting paid a handsome fee to do the above. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One would think we will look better vs Big Ten opponents but we did finish 8th last year in the conference. The Erstad project still looks like a failure...if he continues to struggle hopefully he decides to jump ship to coach a MLB team. He would be a better fit at that level where he doesn't have to recruit and worry too much about player development. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nebraska basketball fans are unbelievably loyal. Nebraska won 19 games two years ago and it was like a religious revival.Nebraska is 11-22 in the Big Ten the last two years. That there is 9,000 fans in that arena, much less 14,000 fans, is a testament to the arena and the fans who fill it. Not the product on the court. This is true. Any other comparable university and the attendance is probably somewhere around 4,000-7,000 fans. How do we compare with other D1 schools, in large population cities, where there are no other P5 schools or professional sports teams? Creighton joined the Big East in 2013.I went back starting with the year 2000 and took a look at the data and here is what I found. The combined population of Ames and Iowa City is 100K+ less than Lincoln, with Omaha being the largest. All 3 arenas are relatively the same size now, with CU being the largest, although they moved into the Qwest/Link from the Civic in 2003. While Nebraska had 3 different coaches during that time period so did Iowa; and Iowa State had 4 different coaches, while CU had 2. Regular season attendance average had Nebraska in last place by almost 25%. CU had the largest attendance average including the Civic attendance. Regular season record saw Nebraska 1 game above 50%, with Iowa at 55% and ISU at 58%. CU has a nearly won 70% of their games including their time in the Mo Valley. What does all this have to do with Nebraska fans? Well it shows that there is nothing special about our fan base when compared to our most comparable competitors. And had the above sucked like we have and for as long non would come close to selling out the building. Why start in 2000? How about 1990? How about 1980? You can keep trying to discredit our fanbase because your feelings got hurt when Mark was canned but we will continue to show up in droves to watch mediocre products. If we can ever get back to winning again....watch out. But remember the next time you whine about the AD and Riley...try to step down off your high horse and come down to the level of the "entitled" fans.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Why the year 2000, because 15yrs should be enough data. The numbers don't lie. As for football the clock is ticking on the Accidental AD and Smiling Mike. A couple of more years and all the media hype in the world won't be able to save them.Exhibit A...of you being a Hypocrite. That didn't take long.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Tell the electriciansapprentice and bankrupttiminomaha I'm still waiting for them to stop by where I sit at the PBA for basketball games to say hello. Maybe they'll stop by my seats at football game this season. I'm not even sure what this means. Are you trying to fight message board posters because they upset you? Again....pretty sad. No issues with you not liking Eichorst/Riley...I really don't...but when you bash the fanbase then turn around and bash the AD and a coach who hadn't even coached a game...yeah, you're a hypocrite. So what you are saying is that they are loyal when we are winning. I agree. You may want to read his post again. In your mind a 11-25 Big Ten record the past two years may be winning but most would beg to differ. Yet...the fans continue to show up in large numbers. It would seem we are pretty loyal thru thick and thin. Must be tough to feel so much disdain for a great fanbase and yet still and try to root for the athletic programs. Very sad. I will attempt to do back flips if we land him....immediate rim protector and he was set up to have a pretty darn good year before he was hurt. Apparently best friends with Gill so he may be our best/lead recruiter on this one.
-
Is this a subtle hint or am I grasping at straws haha If it's not a hint...he's very good. Seem's like the cats out of the bag so to speak as I've heard it multiple places now...hopefully it doesn't hurt at all landing him if he does decide to transfer.
-
it would be a junior, not Senior. And you won't find his name in the top 100 for blocks. Atleast the name that's been mentioned to me....trying not to get too excited as I feel like these things rarely pan out in Nebrasketball's favor. The guy is not some All American or All Conference player but probably just what the doctor ordered for this team.
-
Yes please don't as I don't think it's anywhere close to being a done deal and we wouldn't want to ruin anything considering he is still part of a team. The name...if true, we will all be very happy.

That there is 9,000 fans in that arena, much less 14,000 fans, is a testament to the arena and the fans who fill it. Not the product on the court. I'll disagree slightly that it's not about the product on the floor. Everything is relative. If you look at the quality of basketball, the product on the court this year is light years ahead of the last couple years under Doc. I loved Doc but the basketball was nearly unwatchable. Slow, grind it out games and no real athleticism on the court. This year the quality of basketball was fairly good, the offensive flow was better than the last few years (including the NCAA team two years ago). The W/L results aren't what we want them to be and if that's the only way you judge the quality of the product on the court, then the quality isn't good. However, most of the games we have played have been fun to watch and the level of play and athleticism is significantly higher than the past few years (except for two years ago). I find it funny to hear all the gnashing of teeth going on about a team that essentially lived up to the preseason expectations. Nobody expected us to be in the NCAA's this year and everyone predicted us to be about a .500 team. I don't remember anyone saying the freshmen were "Fab 5" types and going to be the saviors of the program. They were definitely the most heralded class we have had in years but I don't think any of them were Top 50 players in their class (except if you include Andrew). It's comical seeing the writers comment about how the class didn't live up to the hype and how the season has been a disappointment. At the end of the day, we brought in a solid group of freshmen, played to expectations and appear to have a solid nucleus of players coming back. We clearly need more and better big men and to continue to improve but the foundation appears to have been laid for the future. Are we exactly where we want to be at this very moment - NO! Should we settle for what the results are today? ABSOLUTELY NOT! But I don't see why people are so upset/surprised by where we are right now. Maybe I'm just missing something. People see us getting beat by a rented mule down low and thus far we don't have solution for that going forward. If we can sign a big man that can help next year(5th year transfer)...I think that will calm alot of fears going forward. We will likely be predicted to finish anywhere from 10th-13th in the Big Ten next year....will that make it okay since that's where people expected us to be? Not for me...we should at the very least be on the bubble this time next year and at the very worst...make the NIT. Sam's point remains no matter what the style of play is...most schools with Nebrasketball history and a team that is 11-25 the past two years in conference play is likely not close to selling out their building.

Unless they are causing problems within the team and off the court my guess is it will be. And I don't think Fuller or Hammond are those type of guys. Miles will sit them down after the season and probably be honest with them in regards to their future PT. At that point it will be up to them of they want to get more minutes elsewhere. Roster turnover is not always bad...but obviously we need to retain our key parts. I don't think Miles can afford to lose someone like Glynn Watson at this point.

Just any old big man right? It doesn't matter if they can play right? You make it sound like it's an easy position to recruit. 6'11"+ quality guys just go on trees and we just need to pick one...right. Lets not go back in time where we waste scholarships on guys who make Hammond look like an AA. I don't want to see anyone transfer. Both of those guys, Hammond and Fuller, are at the very least serviceable, if not in games then in practice, who can give you good minutes and spark off the bench. They are also going to be upperclassman which provides our team with some stability and leadership. We need an off season of stability...for once. If anybody where to leave it should be Molinari since he coaches our big men, but even then I like to see us have some stability in our coaching. We have got to stop this revolving door of coaches and players and just stick with who we've got for better or worse. Miles took over a program that was an absolutely disaster. It is going to take much more than 4 years to get us to a spot where we have some stability and move us out of the bottom of the conference. With all that said Miles has to find a way with a smaller lineup to play against teams like Purdue. When you front a big men like Hammons or Haas you better make sure that that the guy who is passing the ball in to him has someone in his face. Several times our center rotated to help on defense against a penetrating guard when it wasn't necessary leaving the Purdue big man wide open for the dunk. A player like Hammons should always have a defender stuck to his hip. We also failed on rotating our defense leaving wide open 3pt shots. Early in the game all the wrong people where taking shots. Shields and AWIII were MIA and we looked like a team without any answers. Miles called TO a couple of times during that early Purdue run and it didn't help. Give credit to Purdue because they looked very polished. We have at least 2 more games left to play this season and in the NCAA isn't over until its over. This team is very capable of putting together a run. Until this game against Purdue we had played everybody in our conference tough, even in our losses. I grow tired of our entitled whinny fan base and our local hack media. We are becoming our own worst enemy. Aren't you being a tad bit hypocritical here considering your thoughts on our AD and Mike Riley the moment he stepped foot on campus? The fans packed the PBA for a 14-15 team....whine about the fans when they stop showing up. I'm talking about basketball and not football. Two very different programs with very different histories. Nice try though. I wouldn't exactly say the PBA has been packed. I'm not whining about the fans, I'm describing who they are. I fail to see the difference. So it's okay for you to whine about the AD and football program because we have great history(you feel entitled?) but it's not okay for Nebrasketball fans to whine because our history is dismal? I haven't seen Ron discuss football on this board. Are you bringing up something he said elsewhere? Didn't you get mad at me for doing that to you? Or am I thinking of a different guy? I have no idea what you're talking about so you must have a different guy. I don't know why posts on other sites...or social media for that matter wouldn't apply here. No actual quote really sticks out in my mind for Ron...I just know he doesn't like Eichorst or Riley for that matter. AKA...he whines about them. But I guess that's different because as a Nebraska football fan we should feel entitled...but not as a Nebrasketball fan. Either way it just rubs me the wrong way when people try to bash our fanbase....not many fans would support a program like this as much as the Husker fanbase does. We are not part of the problem.
