6 Reasons Fred Hoiberg Is A Great FLOOR Coach
HB replied to hhcdave's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Fever nailed it. Been a huge Husker fan since I was 6 years old, went to my first game on my 8th birthday, and now I'm almost social security eligible. And I like to pull a cork. No doubt its Husker hoops. Or, it could just be my hometown. Hard to say. -

Mitchell simply can’t guard anyone. You can’t have her in the game. Bless her heart cause she’s a great kid, but she can’t defend -

Another obvious example was poor Grace trying to guard the baseline dribble. Just got blown by, we have to help, wide open 3, bang. -

End of the quarter an example. Just didn’t play the possession hard. Ref missed the travel, but never should have not been on the shooter -

Not sure I’ve ever seen a team with slower foot speed than us. Most fans just watch offense. But I’m telling you we are god awful on defensive speed and quickness. Some of it is just slow, and some of it is effort. We get by with some of it due to a shot blocking post. Ultimately, to go anywhere, we’re gonna have to recruit more quickness, and emphasize playing harder on D. If anyone tries to contend we look remotely like playing with our hair on fire on defense, they would be wrong. -

2021 SG Hunter Sallis ->Gonzaga->Wake Forest
HB replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I get it, but it would seem to be more accurate to say home-state school vs. hometown. Omaha is not Lincoln. I am not aware of any connection Sallis has to Lincoln. His mom is from Omaha, and played on the west coast in college. -
I'm bullish on Bolt. And our lineup is better than last year, if the starters stay healthy. Obviously some newcomers on the mound. Can't wait for the season.

Hometown school?? -
I’ll definitely take the unders on that.....meaning we’ll finish well above 8th.

My guess is some fan's expectations in the 4th year are to have the program at a place where there is more than a "possibility of dancing". We were a program that was solidly in the tournament almost every year, before Eichorst did his thing. This wasn't the men's program; there is a history of much greater success. We can still make the tournament; hopefully we will. But if there are some folks who think it isn't shooting high enough to have a record that "isn't bad", with a "possibility of dancing", I don't think they can be categorized as a just a bunch of complainers. We need to up our game, particularly with recruiting.

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 12; ed 16 - @ Northwestern
HB replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Why would we have the same defensive game plan against NW as Iowa? NW didn’t have Garza. Iowa was a game plan. Today was a lack of effort. Contest the damn 3s. We went half-heartedly through the screens and waived our arms a little. -

Lost this game on defense. We gave up 42 points in the first half to a depleted Northwestern squad that hasn’t been able to score all year. I can handle us being bad. I can handle us being erratic and inconsistent. We have all new guys who haven’t played together, or in a Power 5 conference. That’s to be expected. It would be strange NOT to be inconsistent under the circumstances. But I can’t handle piss poor effort. Which is what we got today. Watch the film, especially the first half, and see the lackadaisical close outs on the 3s. Token waving of the arms like damn ballerinas. Matador flat-footed defense on some drives. Passivity all over the place. Just a pathetic, disgraceful effort on defense the first half. -
Good thing Kearney Man got banned.

You seriously have no clue whatsoever about football. Riley wrecked the program. Absolutely detstroyed it. It's gonna take time. You can't turn around in 2 seasons when every aspect of t he origami is shit. Culture was terrible and talent level was pathetic. So blame a Frost all you want; you've been doing it since day 1. Crawl into a hole you clueless bastard.
