  1. I think he has it exactly right. 3-1 and we're probably in. 2-2 and we'll need to advance a round into the B1G tourney.
  2. nice work. it's the end of February, and we're watching games that matter. A lot. It's been awhile.
  3. if he/she went to college oh, I guarantee you Jean went to college. There's that fake sense of civilization that only a smug college grad can have. Trust me. I've graduated from enough colleges to know.
  4. One of the best personal posts on here I've read. The memory of people puffing on cigarettes during a game cracked me up. I remember those days, too, although I'm only 50. And the story of trying to corral a KFAB signal in Denver--I live there now--brings back fond memories of not that long ago when I'd hit the Sonic drive through and listen to Nee teams work on a crackly radio. One thing I love about this site is that we have some older fans who have such great stories to tell from a time when being a sports fan was so much less cynical than it is now. Thanks for making me smile....
  5. "bracketologists" don't select the field. the committee does. I'm concerned what they think. And as a general rule, they're far more thorough than an internet hack with broadband.
  6. I certainly don't think there's another player more valuable to his team than Terran is. Some awfully good company there. Fine players, all of them. I did my part and gave TP his rightful click....
  7. I figure we're fine if we limit transition points and easy buckets and make the Illini prove they can shoot the ball. So get back on D, body up on missed shots, and try to get their young shooters into foul trouble as quickly as possible.
  8. Footspeed isn't everything. Shavon isn't all that quick, either. But he's smart, and he anticipates where people want to go. The best defenders are players that know their opponents tendencies and act on those decisively. That's a mental function. It's also about discipline: trusting your scouting reports, and staying on those instead of getting happy feet. I've seen plenty of blazing fast players suck on defense because they're not mentally geared to stopping their opponents. Look how quick Biggs is, and how awful he could be defensively.
  9. it's amazing that 6th place is now almost the worst case scenario for us. We practically have that spot wrapped.
  10. One place we've played fairly well at is champaign. I think we're fine for this game. Illinois still has an outside shot at the NIT, so they won't be sleepwalking. Our guys know they could use one more road win, especially against a top 100 team. I think this is the best chance we have for that. I think the coaches and players know it, too.
  11. 1 more to lock a home seed for the NIT. that's step one. then find a way to get 3 more wins. 19 will do it.
  12. yes, you may pet my Menke!
  13. vooch! human victory cigar!
  14. lol at purdue for that. thanksfor the free bucket!
  15. yes!! shavon for the dagger!
  16. i think we're getting a handle on AJ right now after that start of his. I'm talking on our offensive end. We can't seem to get it to the rim when he is in the game. Our jump shots aren't falling. On our defensive side, he is not a factor in the game. We keep sending everyone at him. Need to make a run while he is on the bench. no, I know what you meant. and I agree.
  17. have to remember how young Purdue is, too. man, this conference is going to be nasty for a couple more years. so many good young teams.
  18. woo hoo! the terran show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great run. and purdue is bleeding.
  19. i think we're getting a handle on AJ right now after that start of his.
  20. hammond getting frustrating. this is very nice.
