  1. The last couple of years about our only guards that could consistently take the ball to the hoop and score or get fouled were Sam and Allison. With their injuries we had to depend too much on the threes. Although it wasn't the big ten Darian White shot a lot of free throws, about 6 per game ave. during her career. She hit 76% of them. She also had a lot of steals as well. She was a four year starter and played an average of 31 minutes per game. She is very durable with a great motor. I see her ultimately as our starting point guard. This would really help Jaz's shooting and give Allison time to work her way back into the line up. Darian also had a great assist to turnover ratio and averaged less than 2 fouls per game.
  2. She has been doing that for years. That is how she found Leigha Brown when she was lightly recruited and then after she had a successful 2 years many teams wanted her.
  3. Are we talking about Morrow?
  4. Maybe in moves to the hoop but not in looks.
  5. I don't really want to get in the middle of a pissing contest but what difference does it make if Alberts had anything to do with it or not. For whatever reason a player or coach leaves you need to replace them with a better one. Take a step up the ladder with the replacement. Amy now has that chance. Anxious to see how it comes out.
  6. Just remember. In January the NCAA approved hiring 2 more assistants to both MBB & WBB coaching staffs. Those positions cannot recruit. Plenty of opportunity going forward to revise your staff. I'm sure by this time Amy knows what is needed and is putting a plan together with the idea to be more competitive.
  7. Several posters in the past have noted that we need a portal 4/5 player. I don't necessarily agree. We have six players there including Coley and the 2 freshmen. Unless one of the five after Markowski can't develop into a starting replacement for Issie we should be OK. But we could use a high caliber taller player at guard.
  8. A really good 17 minute interview yesterday of Jaz S. by Jessica Coody on Huskers.com. Maybe one of you more skilled than me can post it on our website.
  9. Issie should have been higher then 35th.
  10. I do like Maggie and Alexis playing at the same time. Could give our competition matchup problems.
  11. Stoddard is going to Butler.
  12. Kansas had that one really bad game against cellar dweller TCU that probably kept them out of the NCAA.
  13. The more competition the better.
  14. She looked really good as a starter in the Kansas game. Now we need consistency from her and others as well.
  15. Kate Martin and Gabby Marshal both elected to come back for their 5th year (covid). Warnock could have but elected not to.
  16. Now that Iowa has a taste of getting this close watch for them to hit the portal for players that can take them to the top like Brink from Stanford. What big wouldn't want to play with Clark for a year.
  17. Bottom 1/2 of league. This year Molly Davis was the player Bluder used to play point guard before McCabe who didn't see much playing time especially in close games.
  18. She hasn't been my favorite in the past but boy after comments from her today she really dropped in likability. What a sore loser. LSU players are grumbling as well about how Iowa disrespected S. Carolina's out side shooters. Sounds to me tomorrows game may be pretty charged up. Hope the refs are in control.
  19. We definitely need to have a scholarship open for Britt Prince in 2024. With Jaz coming back we are at a roster of 12 for next season. We have room for 1 or 2 transfers especially if one is in their last year.
  20. We definitely need Kendall's speed, height and defensive ability at the 3 position. Maddie would still get plenty of playing time.
  21. In NCAA I am pulling for Virginia Tech as I don't like Mulkey. As for the WNIT if we would have had Haiby or if the game would have been played at Nebraska we would have won. I rewatched the game twice and it was closer then the final score. Missed bunnies and free throws cost us as well. We have been the only team in the WNIT so far to have played Kansas a close game.
  22. I think in WVB it will be very interesting to watch Maggie and Andi Jackson battle it out for the starting middle blocker position. Both are very talented. I would never count Maggie out of anything as she is very determined. She now knows the rigors of both sports and should be able to apply her self accordingly.
  23. She has shown great flashes in her limited minutes and in starting the last game she was consistent for the whole game. This fall the non conference games will be really important for her development. I think she and Maggie Mendelson could be our most improved players next season.
  24. I'm sure there are lots of considerations besides basketball in her decision making.
  25. redsteve I agree with what you are saying except for possibly using Kendall M. at a 4 position. She is a natural 3 as reflected in the last Kansas game. She could very well be a starter there next season. She is fast, can shoot the ball and plays great defense. One of our weaknesses at guard this year was in height/length with all 3 starters at 5-9 and not much length. She really helps with that being a long 6-1. One area of improvement for her would be rebounding which could come with more playing time.
