From my observations watching Darian she is very quick, tough, durable, and proves that height isn't everything. Great at both ends of the court. As I said earlier at the end of the season we will wish we had her more than one year.
-
Hard to disagree with the first 4 but I disagree on ILLY. They are over rated.
-
Illinois is over rated.
-
At least we have hope for Allison this year versus last after the injury. Her shooting should improve as during her rehab she probably took thousands of shots. I have high hopes for her.
-
Yes I think it does if you mean Britt coming to Nebraska. I have felt for awhile that if we got Guyton it may be in place of Prince. Now I hope the reverse is true.
-
Didn't need it but one more reason to dislike Iowa.

Thanks for bringing this up. I listened to it and In my recollection Baylor brought up the question about Mendelson saying : " you have a talented Maggie Mendelson as a backup Middle Blocker but is playing behind Andi Jackson etc. I thought good we will hear a little about Maggie. Coach answered but just as you noted only talked about Jackson. Baylor could have pushed a little farther but didn't. Whether it was intentional by Cook or not we probably won't ever know. Lauren Cook West isn't shy about asking the tough questions and doesn't allow her father to get off the hook. Previously about a week ago in an interview I think by Jessica Coody she asked the coach about the fact that we have 3 committed recruits coming in 2024 but no scholarships available right now with no seniors on the team. He said that has already been addressed and it is all figured out which means to me they know which scholarship players will be leaving at seasons end. Maggie is not on a volleyball scholarship but I will stick to my previous post about her making a decision which will be announced at the end of the VB season as to which sport she will concentrate on in the future.
-
I think by the end of VB season she will make a decision between both sports and I am sure that will be after a long discussion with Cook and Wiliams. I don't think it was her intention to play both sports indefinitely but to make a selection once she has experienced both.
-
I agree with all the above discussions. Volleyball at Nebraska is unique with it's level of talent. As for Maggie at the end of this VB season she will have to make a decision on whether her future is in VB or BB. Obviously I hope it's BB. If it is she could redshirt a year and still be with the team picking up skills and experience and then have 3 seasons left, one with Markowski and two after that. She could become quite a force on the BB court. If she chooses VB then it more than likely will be the portal. We have 3 great recruits coming next year in VB including a high rated middle blocker.
-
In my estimation it will be a battle between Potts, Petrie and Coley with Stewart playing center backing up Markowski at least until Mendelson joins the team assuming Maggie doesn't redshirt. We will have a lot of depth this year.
-
Practice should start in about 3 weeks from tomorrow which is the NCAA required 40 days before the first regular season game. Hope we get a little info from Coach not just on Weidner but the team as well. A press conference where questions can be asked would be great. Even a segment on Sports Nightly would help.
-
I think until Mendelson joins the team in late December Williams will use Stewart as the backup to Markowski. That is where she played some last season and almost exclusively on the Greece trip. I think Potts and Petrie will battle it out for the power forward position along with Coley. At guard I believe Weidner will be the starter eventually along with White and Shelly once Weidner is 100%.

I went back and looked at her previous four years at Montana State especially against some of the better teams she played against and she did well both offensively and defensively. Her biggest asset is her durability being a four year starter, playing a lot of minutes and not having nagging injuries which bugged Sam Haiby her last two years.

My expectation for the program is to be in the top 25 most years. -
I have had a BTN+ subscription for a number of years. I have really enjoyed it as it is so flexible and you can go back and watch and rewatch any Nebraska sports game whenever including those that were on regular BTN. Some times you can even get an abbreviated version of FB games that cut out all the dead time and you can see the whole thing in an hour.

On another topic it will be interesting to see the competition between Maggie Mendelson and Andi Jackson in tonight's volley ball scrimmage. How that battle plays out this season may have a bearing on Maggies basketball future. -

My only reason for trying to justify her moving on is that I can't stand the thought of her still at Iowa a year from now. -

For the top WNBA players it's all about endorsements. -

By bigger stage I meant she will be playing a higher level of basketball teams and players. She will have accomplished her history in the NCAA after four years and will looking to rewrite records in the WNBA. -

I think she will go pro as she loves the biggest stage possible. -
I still think she will commit to Nebraska by Sept. 1st of this year.

I can see now why the game wasn't streamed. Not a lot to be learned from such a mismatch. One thing I look at from the games on the trip is how each of our players do efficiency wise versus each other. Looks to me that a couple of our veterans didn't stack up real well when compared to our three newbies. At least we had something to follow and talk about for a week. Unfortunately we are entering another dead period for a couple of months. Maybe a Britt Prince commit to NU will happen to get us reenergized. We also have volleyball.
