  1. I can see now why the game wasn't streamed. Not a lot to be learned from such a mismatch. One thing I look at from the games on the trip is how each of our players do efficiency wise versus each other. Looks to me that a couple of our veterans didn't stack up real well when compared to our three newbies. At least we had something to follow and talk about for a week. Unfortunately we are entering another dead period for a couple of months. Maybe a Britt Prince commit to NU will happen to get us reenergized. We also have volleyball.
  2. Lot's of potential out there but we won't be able to tell much until the non conference games start. A lot more speed with White and Potts. Most impressive to me is White with her speed, tenacity on both offense and defense, toughness and ball handling as she drives to the hoop. Not a great 3 point shooter but she fills a lot of areas that we have been missing.
  3. And fast. A year or two in the weight room and she will be physical around the rim as well.
  4. I watched the game. Glad is was streamed but hard to see some of the plays. What struck me was that if you didn't know ahead of time who the freshmen were and who were the upper classmen it would be hard to tell by how they played. Lot's of great competition especially when you throw in the 3 players who didn't play. It was only one game but it got me feeling that our recruiting is getting better. Looks like coach has the speed to use the press some this year. I loved seeing Potts and White pressing the other teams guards in their back court. As I was typing this Karl beat me to the post about the press. I agree totally.
  5. Weidner, Krull, Nissley, Moriarity, Shelley and White were ones I recognized.
  6. It was great to read Issie's comments about our new Australian Jessica Petrie.
  7. They play again tomorrow at 1:45 CST. Hopefully they will get off to a better start in the game than they did today.
  8. I watched Jessica play for the under 19 Australian team today in their loss to Spain. She moves quite well and her strong suits are defense and rebounding. She also handles the ball well and is an excellent passer. Has a lot of BB knowledge. Looking forward to seeing her this fall taking up some of Issie's minutes.
  9. Yes there is still another coaching position available. Earlier this year the NCAA added two coaching positions to men and women's BB. In the one they just filled with the title "Director of Player Personnel, Development and Influence" I wonder what the area of Influence covers.
  10. Search JACE HENDERSON TitleDirector of Player Personnel, Development & Influence Phone(402) 472-6462 [email protected] BIO Jace Henderson enters her first season as the Director of Player Personnel, Development & Influence for the Nebraska women's basketball program in 2023-24, after being promoted to a full-time position on July 1, 2023. Henderson spent the 2022-23 season at Nebraska as a graduate assistant manager, after joining the Huskers in August 2022. Henderson served as an assistant coach at Montana in 2020-21, after spending 2019-20 as a graduate assistant with the Lady Griz. She was also a standout student-athlete at Montana spending four years as a women's basketball player after competing in 15 matches as a setter for the volleyball team as a true freshman in 2014-15. As a basketball senior in 2018-19, Henderson earned second-team All-Big Sky Conference honors by averaging 12.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists. She hit a Big Sky-best 56.1 percent of her field goal attempts as a senior. Henderson was a two-time team MVP and a three-time Most Inspirational Player as voted by her teammates. Overall, she played 111 games with 56 starts, totaling 722 points, 583 rebounds and 185 assists. Henderson joined the Lady Griz in Missoula after an outstanding career as a multi-sport athlete at Billings High School. She was the 2012 and 2013 Gatorade Montana Volleyball Player of the Year - the first two-time winner in state history. She led Billings to back-to-back state volleyball titles as a junior and senior. She also finished in the top four in throws three times at the Class AA state track and field meet. Her father, Brian, was the women's basketball coach at Rocky Mountain College in Billings for 13 seasons. She earned her bachelor's degree in organizational communication from Montana in 2019, before claiming her master's degree in public administration in 2022. She is pursuing a master's degree in educational administration at Nebraska.
  11. I think I heard that Maggie M. will practice with the team in July but will not go on the trip.
  12. We currently have 13 scholarship players for this season. Next year we lose two in Jazz and Darian assuming both Anika S. and Maddie K. come back for their fifth season (covid year). With the 2 new freshmen that have committed we would have 2 scholarships left which is just enough for Britt Prince and Aaliyah Guyton.
  13. A lot of good recruiting going on in women's sports. Men need to catch up.
  14. Yes going to Iowa would be about as sad as it gets.
  15. No inside info at all just a gut feeling I have is that she will commit to Nebraska by Sept. 1st.

    23-24 WBB Roster

The last couple of games last year she did play some 3 position at times. I have always thought with her frame she was more suited for playing there. As a freshman due to low numbers at the 4 she played there initially and got stuck there. At the very limited times coach ran a full court press Coley was usually in the game. I would hope that we can press a lot more this season.

    23-24 WBB Roster

With Stewart probably backing up Markowski at center at least until Mendelson comes back we will have the two freshmen Petrie and Potts playing the power forward that Bourne has played. We need to be careful in the evaluation of how they compare as they are freshmen and Bourne was a senior. When Bourne was a freshmen she averaged 6 pts and 4 rebounds a game as a non starter playing 17 minutes per game. Over time we will be fine.

    23-24 WBB Roster

I believe that who starts at the beginning of the season will be different than who does at tournament time (not including injuries. The Greece trip will really help chemistry both on and off the court.

    23-24 WBB Roster

Here is something else to think about. At present coach has a pretty good distribution between the five classes. But if Stewart and Krull stay on the team for their covid year (2024) then at the end of that season we will lose 6 players.

    23-24 WBB Roster

The men need more players because of the need to be able to scrimmage so they carry numerous walk-ons. The women have a team of mens players to be able to scrimmage against. It is a lot harder to get female players to walk on than mens players to walk on.

    23-24 WBB Roster

I think where we are is fine. One player (Allison) recuperating. Last year we had 3 injured starting the season. I agree with Huskerpapa that chemistry is extremely important. And we have it. We were the only Big Ten WBB team to not have someone enter the portal this year. Everyone knows they have a shot at more playing time. Let the competition begin. Also men get 3 less scholarships then the women.
  22. Next seasons roster is now on Huskers.com. 13 players. 2 graduate students, 2 seniors, 4 juniors, 2 sophomores and 3 freshmen.
  23. Nice article on Allison today In Lincoln Journal Star. I cancelled my subscription so can't get it to put on here.
  24. Yes I too hate this dry period of news. Same old story. Why haven't we updated our roster as reflected on huskers.com. Still have the two no shows listed. We know who is coming back and who isn't including new players and coaches. Someone may say its too early. Well Iowa WBB has their new roster for 23-24 shown on their women website. I would like to be ahead of them once in something. Also noted Iowa was second in attendance in the country last season averaging over 11,000.
  25. I also think this team has an unfulfilled hunger from the past two seasons.
