The starting lineup might be the same whether he returns or not. But it wouldn't suck to have a guy with 3 years of experience, who can do a lot of different things, in the lineup.

Creighton Basketball - what a bunch of cheaters
Norm Peterson replied to kldm64's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Nebraska's first *actual* practice, the year they had their first NCAA tournament appearance, was at Mabel Lee Hall, and they taped up the windows so no one could see into the gym because Moe was breaking NCAA rules by conducting a practice earlier than the rules allowed. And some intrepid, young reporter from the Daily Nebraskan got wind of it and ratted out the team. -
"And he said, 'I won't actually come play for you, but on your deathbed, you'll receive total consciousness.' So, I got that going for me. Which is nice."

I liked the comparison someone made to Thor. But longer.

I'm feeling like we do. I'm feeling like we're going to see, for example, a better version of Lat Mayen this year, but a Lat Mayen who gets to be the 3rd or 4th perimeter shooting option rather than who has to be the 1st or 2nd. I feel like we'll see a more efficient Lat from deep this year. I think we'll have proficient perimeter shooters with CJ, Lat, Kobe and Bryce, and Keisei if he sees the floor. We'll also have competent shooters with Trey and Keon, and Trevor if he sees the floor. So, 6-8 guys who should be legit threats to knock it down from deep. And that would allow Dalano to operate where he operates best. Which means I'm feeling like we'd see a better version of Dalano Banton this year, if he chooses to return. Which I hope he does.

He has the tools to be good next year. And, depending on how he uses his time over the summer, he could come back and prove it.

Boy that all is a HUGE disincentive to going out and dangling $$$ in front of a bunch of 4-star prospects. They won't ever try that again. Wait, what's that? Two 4-stars decommited from other programs and switched to Creighton in the last month? Oh. -
Dalano, come back to Nebraska. Prove you can shoot. Then go to the NBA. Selfishly, I want his veteran leadership on a team that's blending in a bunch of newcomers. Unselfishly, I think if he can develop a reliable jumper -- and I bet he thinks he can -- then another year of college to prove it could bounce him way up the draft board and result in a far bigger payday for him.

Notice how Moe Iba isn’t on that list.
-
He put up the most rebounds and assists of all the guys who missed all their shots from the floor.
-
And stay there.

I know, crazy, right? they just picked up the 16th pick from Boston. They already had the fourth overall pick. I assume there’s some speculation that they’ll try to trade a combination of those pics to get the number one overall pick and grab cade Cunningham from Oklahoma State.
-
I read somewhere that, because it qualifies as our contest for the Gavitt Games, it'll be early, like one of our first 3 games or so. That's definitely beneficial for us given that we'll have the more veteran team this time around.
-
Thunder trading Al Horford to Boston for Kemba Walker. Some draft picks also involved. And Moses Brown. You'd have to think Isaiah features prominently in the Thunder's future plans if they're trading Horford and Brown for a guard and a draft pick.

I thought Cray-in would be here this year.

2020 SF CJ Wilcher -> Xavier -> Nebraska
Norm Peterson replied to thrasher31's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Fine. Not arguing with that description of Teddy Allen. He's a bit unorthodox. But I've seen CJ do a lot of the step-back moves Teddy Allen would do to create space in his mid-range game. CJ is intuitive getting shots off in traffic around the rim, like Teddy. They both are quick shooters from deep and both are pretty accurate, but I expect that CJ should be a touch more accurate. I don't know, I just see a lot of similarities, all the way down to the way they carry themselves. Now, Teddy's shot is unorthodox. CJ's is more "normal." I expect CJ isn't going to be the guy who wants to have the ball in his hands all the time, initiate the offense by way of some hero-ball move, and have the ball stop in his hands. But, in terms of skillset, what they're good at, they have a lot in common. -

I look at CJ as having some of the same skills as Teddy Allen without some of the baggage. I think they're very similar in terms of size, skillset, athleticism (or lack thereof -- both a little less explosive than other high majors), and craftiness with scoring the ball. The big difference, from what I can see, is that CJ fits our system better from a team-player perspective. He might not have explosive footspeed, but he has a lightning-quick release and ample accuracy. He doesn't seem like a guy who demands the ball in his hands like Teddy did, not the one who insists on initiating the offense, and therefore the ball doesn't stop in his hands. But when he gets the ball in catch-and-shoot situations, it's gone. You were standing right next to him and you were still too late to close out. I guess time will tell whether my perceptions are accurate or not, but I kind of look at CJ as being a rich man's Teddy Allen. Or, conversely, looking at Teddy as being a poor man's CJ Wilcher. -
Home and home with Iowa State? Cool. Jon Rothstein on Twitter: "T.J. Otzelberger on Iowa State starting a home-and-home series with Fred Hoiberg and Nebraska: "That's certainly something that we'd be open to." https://t.co/8vRK3mR4xB" / Twitter

It dates you a bit to say you attended a Husker football game where Gordon MacRae sang the Anthem. He died in 1986, so if you're younger than about 40, you missed your chance. I looked it up today. He died of cancer at Bryan hospital and is buried at Wyuka Cemetery. He was only 64 years old at the time. He would have turned 100 this year. I didn't realize at the time how cool it was that he was a Lincolnite. Man, what a set of pipes.
-
Only you and me, @Huskerpapa? If you saw Gordon MacRae sing the national anthem live, it probably means you also witnessed a Nebraska football victory, and probably against a pretty good team. Listening to Gordon MacRae sing was just icing on the cake.

If you ever had the good fortune of hearing Gordon MacRae sing the National Anthem live and in person, raise your hand. Mood:

And oh by the way, I don't think I could be anymore proud of two former Husker athletes than I am of Blake Lawrence and Adi Kunalic, the co-founders and CEO and President, respectively, of Opendorse.

I'm all for amateurism. I hate the idea of under-the-table payments and cheating. I think there's way more to NIL than something that would permit what used to be cheating to now be done in the open. Read this thread:
