  1. TBF-- it's probably only a matter of time before we start paying NIL to teams who make the Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final 4, National Runner Up, and National Champ.
  2. I guess that 60-70% numbers depends on what the resources are. If you are going to sit us at 2.5 mil again, then you almost have to spend that and more to get your top 3... but that top 3 will pale in comparison to if your budget was 5-6+ mil.
  3. Watched him in one of the MW games this year... at least the few minutes he got to play. Dude only averaged like 9 mins and 2 pts/2 boards a game. I mean if he'd like to come here on his own and be a part of our practice rotation, it wouldn't hurt to have a big dude. But the chances of him seeing the floor are very slim to basically zero I would think.
  4. We're 8-4 outside of Q1 and 2-10 in Q1 games. With that... Oregon St X3- Q1 Creighton- Q3 @Omaha- Q3 Rutgers X3- Q3 @KU- Q1 @Iowa X3- Q3 @Creighton- Q1 Northwestern X3- Q4 KU- Q2 @UMD X3- Q2 KSU- Q1 Minny X3- Q1 Creighton- Q3 MichiganX3 - Q3 @Purdue X3- Q2 Q1 Left: 9 (Expected Wins 1 to 2) Q2-Q4 Left: 22 (Expected Wins 14 to 15) Final record if we remain on the path we're on... anywhere from 25-30 to 27-28 (Big 10 record around 14-16)
  5. We do have the Connor connection-- I thought he was already an older transfer though..
  6. We look like we’ve never played the game before…
  7. The NCAA needs contacts, salary caps, etc. Now more than ever...
  8. 500K for year 1-- it's not terrible, but also not the million number that I had heard thrown around.
  9. While true, Fred’s swing and miss rate seems higher for 1 and dones than the multi year guys I feel like. I don’t have data to back this up though.
  10. Anyone got a cool 3 million?
  11. This argument seems a little moot considering NIL collectives will still be a thing no? There are plenty of volleyball private donors I’m sure. This distribution is only referencing what the university allocated money will go to which probably pales in comparison to what collectives will become.
  12. I had mentioned him wayyy back before Christmas. Appears we are not kicking the tires on this one.
  13. Is there a rule that says you can't play if you enter the portal? With most of basketball being wrapped up for a lot of institutions, the Crown could effectively become a highly recruited event for teams with players in the portal and would also entice players in the portal to continue playing to showcase their skills in front of coaches who come to watch.
  14. My best guess is that football will command the most... 66-75%. Men's basketball and volleyball will come next based on revenue brought into the university and those programs paying for themselves. From there, they'll break out what they have left among the other sports. Where the secondary portion goes at most universities will be different based on what that specific institution brings in money wise. For instance, Vandy might be men's basketball and baseball. Iowa might be men's and women's basketball. Etc.
  15. Same-- the one year mercs to me better be guys who could reach all-conference level OR play a significant role. Otherwise, I'd prefer a So/Jr. This was actually why I was wondering if we could break guys out by their grad year in the original post.
  16. Since we're doing this Sidelines-- just a personal preference on how I'm kind of viewing guys from the portal... Would you be able to break them out by class year? Sr/Grad, Jr, So, Fr
  17. One has to wonder if Minny could have kept them had they ponied up the money they are supposedly giving Niko.
  18. Thinking about the title of this thread, we seem to have maybe 1-2 probable/likely starters and quite a few role players figured out. We probably need another big to spell Mast. My question is do we think we'll have the budget to actually go out and grab 3 starting level(ish) players to add to what we already have? Seems like it's going to take some dough to add starting level players vs trying to fill our role player positions. Starter TBD Starter TBD Starter TBD Berke? Mast Sam Connor Frager Jano Bolis
  19. Appear to be great hires on paper, but we of all fanbases should know from personal experience that it isn't always as easy as it appears on paper. I'm sure when the rest of the B1G saw that we were hiring Fred Hoiberg, they said some of the same stuff. No one was probably expecting his first few years to go the way they did. We'll see how the wins translate -- especially at Minnesota and Iowa.
  20. I think refs are hindered by what they can and cannot review. That sucks— because there are obvious clear and correctable calls/errors that aren’t reviewable.
  21. Maybe he just wanted to show us how he'd fit in.... like a glove I'd say.
  22. Or just hire whoever Drake hires...
  23. Looks like we might be unprepared off AND on the pitch.
