For the most part, BJ got the most out of his players and they always seemed to get better as the year went on.

For me personally— a team with a top 25 attendance in the nation, that pays for itself, and already has a decent enough NIL budget should probably at minimum be top quarterish in the conference… even with our crappy history. The university needs to do all it can to create a winner for one of the top revenue generating sports. I’d say top 5-6 for what we bring in basketball wise. That’s about top 3rd. To me— middle of the pack just in your conference for a money generating sport is a little low. Even with our history.

We could still get a coach! We’d just have to find the right guy that our budget would allow. Like the Indians

To be fair to BBall Jones, he had been fairly critical (as have multiple others) on the defensive scheme we run for multiple years now. So this isn’t a recency bias from him with just this years team and players on the defensive side of things.

Makes me so mad— all we had to do was win 2 of our last 5…. Two of six if you just get 1 in B1G tournament. And we were right there resume wise.

It’s all $$$ nowadays and bigger universities are still going to draw more eyes in most instances.

My guess has always been 80%+ of these incidents are not truly “fans” or are fans of other teams. If I’m coaching I’d highly encourage my players to stay away from social media and if they did have it, better have thick skin and ignore, ignore, ignore. Anyone can create a fake account.

That was my initial thought as well-- I didn't even think it would be off of standings.

I seriously wondered this. I know there will be outliers, but they way that I see it, there are few players who probably command a high enough amount to differ by hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I guess the "have to accept a bid" part isn't entirely accurate?

Do we think the pendulum will swing back the other way at all? I know money is money... but some of these guys got huge dollar amounts to end up on a team that wasn't meant for them and now they aren't even going dancing. Do we think Coleman Hawkins goes to KSU if he doesn't get a cool 2 million? Would 1-1.5 and a chance to showcase in the NCAA tournament be a bigger factor for life after college? I know the answer is probably "no" here but it does make me wonder if "fit" may start to play a bit of a factor again no matter how small that factor is.

Thankfully I don't think efficiency is factored into the RPI. So we have that going for us!

Three Q1 opportunities on deck and over the next week we will have 3 Q1, 3 Q2, and 2 Q3 opportunities. A chance to move the RPI needle for sure.

Also keep in mind that the transfer portal is a long period of time. First may not always be best. Reink, Brice, and Juwan were all mid to late April commits. So strap in.

I'd venture to guess that winning a CBC will be a lot harder than one might think. A tournament made up of mostly P5 teams is going to be tough-- especially if there is $$$ on the line as many have mentioned/wondered. Sure, these will be P5 teams who finished mid to bottom of their leagues, but 4 games against P5 teams is a tall order.

So hear me out…. A new way to welcome teams to Husker football games…. Instead of our teams unity walk…. We have this for the visitors.
