  1. Which segment was that? Not sure. It might have been the last hour. Tthey were talking some Nebrasketball towards the end of the show, because they had Nebraska's new assistant on the show. I will check the podcast and post it. It's segment 9 from today's show. This one? 1620 - Sharp and Benning: April 25 Seg 9 Get It Right http://cdn.stationcaster.com/stations/kozn/media/mp3/April_25_Seg_9_Get_It_Right-1398440828.mp3 (18:26) April 25 Seg 9 Get It Right Yep. A little before halfway through the segment. It's a very casual mention and he doesn't really elaborate, but I know Sharp knows alot of people in the athletic dept, so he probably knows something that's not public info yet...
  2. Omaha is hosting the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament at the Century Link Center next season. How absolutely poetic would it be for Nebraska to get their 1st ever NCAA Tourney win in Creighton's home arena? And how much would it kill Creighton fans if Nebraska was able to make the Sweet16, while playing in Creighton's home arena? (especially considering Creighton will likely be watching the tournament on TV at home). That has the potential to be the ultimate gut-punch from Nebrasketball to Creighton, because you know that the local Omaha and Lincoln media will take full advantage of all of those potential storylines... Just throwing that out there. Not sure if it has been discussed on this board yet.

  5. Today on Sharp and Benning in the morning, Gary Sharp commented that Nebraska is on the verge of a deal for a big-time matchup. He didn't get into specifics, or anything, but he sounded like he knew something that isn't yet public knowledge...Just throwing it out there.
  6. Honestly, If Ayegba can be a utility man, then that is all that I think Nebraska needs from him. Look at Rivers...He didn't stuff the stat sheets, but I think he brought something very valuable to this team that isn't found in the stats... If Ayegba can play with the kind of intensity that Rivers does, but do it with a 6'9", 250 lbs frame (with a 7'4" wingspan), then this team will, again, make considerable improvement. And again, equally as important, the addition of Ayegba allows Pitchford to play the 4-spot, rather than having to play out of position in the 5-spot. I think the statistical jump/development that we will see as a result of this addition will actually be on Pitchford's stat sheet...
  7. If this happens, along with the further development of Pitchford, then I also believe it will be HUGE for Nebraska's recruiting of transfers...Nebraska could be the next Iowa St in that sense...
  8. That's kind've what I was wondering. I figure this could shake things up a little bit. Since Nebraska still has a couple open scholarships, maybe it will impact Nebraska. Not necessarily saying players committed to Kentucky would end up at Nebraska, but maybe they go to another school, which leads a couple of their current commits to re-open their recruitment...and then the domino effect begins...maybe that could lead all the way to Nebraska one way or another.
  9. Not Nebraska news and not Big Ten news, but it's still pretty big basketball news. Just thought I'd share.
  10. I know that people are consumed with stat sheets, but his "blocked shots" numbers only tell part of the story. With a 7'4" wingspan, he will consistently alter shots as well as alter paths to the basket, even if he doesn't stuff the stat sheet with "blocked shots". I would be willing to bet that a high percentage of his fouls stopped easy layups (which could be just as much a result of poor perimeter defense and their guards getting beat off the dribble). Ayegba is an absolutely huge addition to this roster. Stats don't tell the whole story with him.
  11. I don't think Nebraska is going to land Deng. I think he will end up at Baylor. It's just the feeling I get. I think Nebraska has a better chance of landing Domingo from Georgetown.
  12. I have actually thought about this too. It would be interesting to see them let Petteway run the PG spot. The lineup of Petteway (6'6"), Fuller (6'7"), Shields (6'7"), Pitchford (6'10"), and Ayegba (6'9", with a 7'4" wingspan) could be nasty defensively and pretty dangerous on the offensive end too.
  13. I agree with this 100%. While, according to the roster, players may be listed as SG, SF, PF... So far, it seems like Miles has used 1 PG, 1 Forward/Center and then 3 wing-type players... 6'5" - 6'10" athletic that can get to the rim and/or shoot from outside. This works well, because on defense they can switch screens without creating mismatches.
  14. #BOOOOOOOOOM!!! A Nebraska basketball team that is expected to do big things this next season and is already being ranked #17 in some way too early preseason polls just got even more dangerous. One of the weaknesses Nebraska had last season was a lack of a serious post presence. They addressed that concern. The addition of Moses Ayegba is HUGE for multiple reasons. He was a 4-Star Rivals150 prospect coming out of high school and has a 7'-4" wingspan, so he is that rim protector that Nebraska has desperately needed. But, perhaps equally as important, he will be able to play the 5-spot, so that Pitchford can move over to the 4-spot (which is his more natural position). I believe we will see Pitchford make a big jump next season because of this, because he won't be asked to play out of position. Nebraska will not be undersized next season. In fact, they will be just the opposite: Starting Lineup: 1- Webster (6' 3") 2- Petteway (6' 6") 3- Shields (6' 7") 4- Pitchford (6' 10") 5- Ayegba (6' 9")
  15. Because now Nebraska has Ayegba and Smith for the Center position. Both of them are much more physically capable of playing Center in the Big Ten and both of them have big-time Division 1 experience in the top-2 bball conferences in the country (Big Ten and the realBigEast). I think Hammond will be a really good player, but physically, he is nowhere near developed enough to come in an play right away. Adding Ayegba means that Nebraska won't be forced to play him before he is physically ready. Remember, Hammond is basically playing at a school that is the equivalent of a C1 high school in Nebraska. And there are generally very few players even in Class A in Nebraska that could step in right away and play in the Big Ten Conference (especially at the Center position). Again, I believe Hammond will be legit, but he just needs a season to focus on physical development, before he is thrown to the wolves...
  16. He would be a great addition to Nebraska's roster. He was a 4-Star, Rivals150 player, #11 Center in the country coming out of highschool. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-John-Egbunu-137603 And actually, both Ayegba and Egbunu were ranked 4-Star Rivals 150 Centers coming out of high school. And im also pretty sure that they were both ranked in the #5-#15 range as far as their position ranking. If Nebraska could get both Ayegba and Egbunu, that would be an incredible upgrade of roster talent at the Center position. Miles has already made very significant upgrades at the 2, 3, and 4 spots (and I believe that Webster and Smith will end up being a significant upgrade at the PG spot)...so this kind of upgrade at the Center position could be enough to get Nebraska over the next hump... Likely wont happen, but it's the time of year for dreaming...
  17. I think you are right about this. That's actually part of the reason why Colorado and Mizzou were 2 of the teams that I suggested, because they left the Big 12 too, so they won't have the same resentment towards Nebraska. And the remaining Big 12 team that I suggested is KState, because they are willing to schedule Nebraska in baseball, so I wouldn't think they would be against scheduling Nebraska in basketball.
  18. I don't remember seeing Ayegba's high school profile on here, so I will post a link. So, basically, if Nebraska lands Ayegba, they will be getting a 4-Star Rivals150 Center that has multiple years of experience playing in the realBigEast and 1 year playing in the newBigEast... http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/basketball/recruiting/player-Moses-Abraham-105981
  19. It would be a complete shock to me if Moses didn't end up here. Just give it time. I don't disagree that Moses will end up here but not sure this guy is exactly the missing piece we need. He didn't exactly light the world on fire at Georgetown. Based on his numbers, he was a pretty average player. This would be a one and done player but not with one and done type talent. In my opinion the key here isn't Moses being a huge offensive threat, but instead providing a defensive presence (aka "Rim Protector")....but more importantly allowing Pitchford to play in his natural position of a Stretch Four. Exactly this. Nebraska has enough scorers to win most games. Petteway, Pitchford, Shields...plus I expect Webster and Fuller to have more of a scoring role next season. Nebraska plays good defense most of the time. What they need is someone that can shine glass, so that they don't give the other team 2-3 tries each time down the floor. Holding a team to a poor field goal percentage isn't nearly as successful, if you let them have multiple shots each possession. Nebraska needs a shot blocker and a rebounder.
