  1. At most, there is a handful of "can't miss" bigs in each recruiting class. While I agree that our chances of landing one of them is nonexistent, I certainly wouldn't classify Jordy as a project by any means and I don't think his genetics are in question. At all. The dude AND his bro are pushing 7 feet! I'd say the genetics are definitely there. Hell, even MJ's older brother (Larry) was only 5' 8". He could still jump out the gym, though... Basketball scouting is by no means an exact science and the "experts" do still get it wrong from time to time, but their accuracy is generally much better than other sports. Body development is far less important than it is with say, football. Hence, this is why the top seniors have usually been scouted since the 6th grade. It's a skill game, and if a kid has the desire and determination to hone those skills at a young age -- or an obsessive father/uncle/handler that is hell-bent on cashing-in off the kid or living vicariously through them -- there's a damn good chance that will continue throughout their adolescence. The biggest wild card is the high school growth spurt. Larry Jordan was by far the better player than Michael up until the summer before MJ's junior year, when he grew five inches. For bigs, foot and knee injuries are often career killers, but weight gain is probably their biggest enemy (think Eddy Curry, Andrew Bynum, etc.). The fact that Jordy has worked hard to reshape his body is extremely encouraging. It shows discipline, self-control, and motivation. Those attributes are prerequisites for success at higher levels of athletics.
  2. 247: 3*/87 Overall/#21 SG Scout:3*/NR Overall/#15 SG Other offers: Marquette, Wisconsin, Boston College, Creighton, DePaul, Florida, Purdue, Sam Houston State, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Xavier
  3. Was their previous contract from the 90s? The 1890's maybe. That's the "cash" part only, fellas. Yes, there is a cash part and an apparel/equipment part of the contract. Wouldn't surprise me if UA's equipment deal was far better than Nike's, too. The sponsorship contracts just keep getting larger and larger over time. Deals expire and new, larger deals are signed. And although it might seem like UA is blowing Nike out of the water, in actuality the Swoosh is just choosing its battles. Last summer, they signed Michigan to a $169M deal so they'll still be making plenty of navy and gold apparel. The next month, they announced a $1B deal with the NBA. Nike has a $7.1B in sponsorship commitment. Cal is pretty insignificant to Nike as a whole.
  4. So...Creighton, then? Hell no! I think he meant Wisconsin. Wisconsin and Marquette play annually.
  5. Well, nobody will confuse you with a Norman Vincent Peale disciple on this one! Perhaps it should be your job while you are watching to show at his games wearing scarlet, cream and the block N. And bring the little Kamdy Man. The little guy is in the opposites stage of life. Whenever a game is on he asks who I am cheering for and proceeds to choose the other team every time; especially Nebraska games because he thinks it's funny. I wouldn't want him to confuse Hepa any. ;-) Good call on the Hepa filter
  6. They've been in on him since the day he could walk. A little (blue)bird told me that Coach Mac was actually present to watch Matthew Hurt's conception. He really loved the form of Mr. Hurt's "shot" so I wouldn't be surprised if Coach Mac comes a-callin'…now that the temporary restraining order has expired. Here's a file photo of him giving Mrs. Hurt some tips during warm-ups:
  7. Sounds to me like he may be Marquette's to lose. 24 for Stevens Point is a 2018 PF we're recruiting. #10 appears to be his brother headed to Marquette. #10 is big bro Sam Hauser, 2016 PF committed to Marquette. http://247sports.com/Player/Sam-Hauser-31242 And regarding him being Marquette's to lose: "With his brother committed to Marquette in the 2016 class, family ties could play a factor in Hauser's recruitment, though Joey has indicated it "could be sweet" to play against Sam as well" http://www.buckys5thquarter.com/pages/joey-hauser
  8. 24 for Stevens Point is a 2018 PF we're recruiting. #10 appears to be his brother headed to Marquette. #10 is big bro Sam Hauser, 2016 SF committed to Marquette. http://247sports.com/Player/Sam-Hauser-31242
  9. A few nice corner 3s (aka: the best kind) and a big block. Rocking the #24 like Kobe Bean. I'm seriously going to have wet dreams about Joey Hauser hitting corner 3s in a Husker uni at the PBA. Followed by nightmares of him doing it in a Wisconsin jersey.
  10. Scout: 4* #9 PF, #30 Overall 247: 4* #12 PF, #35 Overall Rivals: 4* #20 PF, #73 Overall ESPN: N/A 2015-16: 17.8 ppg, 7.6 rpg 2014-15: 9.9 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.0 apg 40% 3-pt shooter. 3-sport athlete (baseball and football). Team went 27-1 in 2014-15 with Joey playing alongside his older brother. His older brother is committed to Marquette in the 2016 class. Offers from: Bradley, Iowa State, Marquette, Wisconsin Interest from: the school that shall not be named, Drake, Indiana, Ohio State, Virginia…and apparently Nebraska! Wisconsin offered in early July, Marquette followed later in the month.
  11. Decent size and athleticism, and looks fairly polished offensively. It seems like he has some nice back to the basket moves…that little turnaround hook looked pretty lethal. His jumpshot looks a little iffy mechanically, but with the height on some of those 3 balls, he could probably shoot those over the State Capitol. So there's that... I wish he was 6' 10" and had more highlights within 10' of the rim, but what can you do? We need some size coming in and we need it now.
  12. Eep. That does not bode well for Nebrasketball. 247 already had him as 100% to BC... http://247sports.com/Player/Jordy-Tshimanga-69227
  13. Cosign. Best of luck to Austin! His big brother was one of my favorite Huskers. Hopefully the Deverell Biggs debacle didn't leave Miles jaded on CCC transfers if Austin blows up.
  14. http://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2016/03/kavell_bigby-williams_4-star_j.html "Out of all the schools Oregon is the my No. 1 choice on my list," he said. But then the clouds parted, revealing the smallest ray of sunshine... "I'm pretty close to my decision, as I kind of know where I want to go, but other schools are still coming into the mix and contacting me, so I'm (going to) sit down with my people in the next couple of weeks and see where I'm at," he said.
  15. Roby sounds like he is the perfect mix of humble and hungry. I can't wait until he (and Horne!) is on campus!
  16. Nobody likes a braggart, Dimes. Given my username, my memory retention and recall are obviously JV at best...
  17. Hunter and Bakari were high school teammates, btw I also uncovered that juicy tidbit in the 42 seconds of Google searching I did on Lindsey Hunter IV. Maybe they could be college teammates, too? Just preferably not at Nebraska...
  18. Lindsey Hunter IV, PG, Fr., Jackson State (walk-on) Lindsey Hunter IV couldn't pick-up a scholly to the program his 17-year NBA veteran father helped put on the map, but George W Bush and his C average get passed through Yale? Someone isn't doing this whole legacy kid thing right...
  19. The odds of us wearing both colors of those jerseys in 2016 seem to be getting smaller and smaller. We really need these next two games to stay out of the B1G cellar...
  20. POSTERIZED!!! Kid going for the block looks like he can barely get the net
  21. Funny story. About four years ago, I was on a business trip to visit a vendor in a small town in southern Germany, like halfway between Munich and Frankfurt. It was scheduled at the last minute and I could barely get into the small, family-run hotel which I typically stayed at. My second night at the hotel, I was arriving back to the hotel after a late night at work with my colleague from New Jersey. As we picked-up our room keys at the front desk -- you had to drop them off in a basket when you left for the day so that they'd have a key to get into your room to clean it -- my weary eyes started to gaze into the hotel restaurant. I saw a gentleman that looked a bit confused standing there, wearing what appeared to be Nebraska team-issued shorts and a t-shirt. It was Ryan Anderson! I walked-up and said hello and shook his hand, then explained how I knew him. Ryan was absolutely floored and we had a long conversation, much to the chagrin of my colleague from New Jersey haha! Ryan even ran upstairs to his room to grab me his business card, which was indeed a business card, but with his stats and contact information on it. He had just recently been signed to the local team in Germany and was trying to work on getting a more permanent spot on the team. He told me to hit him up some time and we could grab dinner or a drink together, but unfortunately I didn't have time.
