  3. The world could use another dunking Nana!
  4. I think Chang's length makes up for any lack of physicality on the defensive side. And it's not like he won't get stronger. As far as his offense goes...the kid is a sniper. Ball weighs < 1.5 lbs
  5. He is definitely coming to the right place...
  6. He is definitely coming to the right place...
  7. Hopefully he's not moving-out of his place in LNK?
  8. This poll is derived from some of the recent discussion in the recruiting forum's Jordy thread. It seems as though 20 mpg is an agreeable threshold for this metric. Let's be democratic and vote our predictions!
  9. Ask and you shall receive: YES YES YES THE BOTTOM ONE He must have used his signing bonus on dental work Most definitely has had some veneer work done between those photos.
  10. He's been wrong before, but he's willing to be wrong again... I don't like when people speculate based on some wild-ass presupposition. If there weren't any injuries, Illinois would be a tournament team. And if there wasn't any gravity, I'd be a five-time slam dunk champion
  11. I see Horne being more of a 4. Jacobson can back the post and play the 4 (either big.) But I see Horne as more of a big than a wing.By then, McVeigh might be quick enough to play wing as well as stretch 4. So, the bigs would be Jordy and Jacobson, Morrow and Horne, with McVeigh as added depth. The wings would be White, Roby, McVeigh, Webster and Gill. And the point would be Watson with Gill and Webster as depth. Horne can get very hot from deep range. Case in point: he was 4-6 on 3FGs in his match-up with Michael Porter Jr. You don't want to waste talent like that by permanently placing him on the low block. I think he will predominantly play 3, but as always it depends on how the opponent is matching-up with us.
  12. TLue showing-off that Midas (Muffler) touch
  13. We are the right choice out of those three. I just hope that Jordy knows that...
  14. They've been in on him since the day he could walk. A little (blue)bird told me that Coach Mac was actually present to watch Matthew Hurt's conception. He really loved the form of Mr. Hurt's "shot" so I wouldn't be surprised if Coach Mac comes a-callin'…now that the temporary restraining order has expired. Here's a file photo of him giving Mrs. Hurt some tips during warm-ups: Wasn't it you complaining about use of the word "butthurt" on here not too long ago? Indeed it was! Glad to see you remembered me While we may have disagreed with one another on that -- but mainly on Ayn Rand -- I'm happy to see you don't mind me throwing a low blow in the direction of the C word. Because while I will make some attempt to limit the political overtones of my posts, I WILL NOT ease-up on the C word. Things may heat up in November, but it's Blue Jay season all year round! And to quote another piece of literature I read in middle school (but actually enjoyed): “I remember when my daddy gave me that gun. He told me that I should never point it at anything in the house; and that he'd rather I'd shoot at tin cans in the backyard. But he said that sooner or later he supposed the temptation to go after birds would be too much, and that I could shoot all the blue jays I wanted.” To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
  15. Perhaps Little Richard needs to take a page from his father's playbook and find some professionals for his team? Hopefully Jordy (and Link) wants no part of this shit storm.
  16. Noted, but I have a bit too much self-respect and self-interest to silence my dissenting opinions. Suppressing myself would go against the teachings of Ms. Rand, no? Fast facts: did you know Ayn Rand accepted both Social Security and Medicare? She was bilking the coffers of the government like a welfare mother to pay for her mounting healthcare bills as a result of her two-pack-a-day smoking habit. Hypocrite to the end. I believe that we can be unified in our love of Husker sports (and hatred of all things Creighton) and still vehemently disagree on politics. All of our blood runs red, even that which spouts from my bleeding, liberal heart. My apologies for rubbing people the wrong way. I will do my best to keep things more on topic.
  17. What is your username and avatar again? Hmmm... I've heard that short-term memory loss is frequently a side effect, Dimes
  18. You really can't name a single Butler player? You need to watch more basketball! More Utah Jazz basketball, especially. They have two Bulldogs on the freaking roster. You seriously don't remember Gordon Hayward or Shelvin Mack?!? Gordon has averaged 20-5-4 the past two seasons. That's NBA All-Star level ball. That said, Butler produced zero NBA-level before those two. People have short memories. It's all about what have you done lately, and Butler is definitely winning that battle. But on a more serious note, if we are seriously using the term "butt hurt" on this board, then we have reached our nadir. I'd fully expect to see that used on a Buffs/Mizzou board, but I'd like to think we can do better, fellas. Save that kind of nonsense for your playground rock fights. Sorry, but "butthurt" is the perfect term for what has been coming out of central Indiana over the past few days. Especially from the guy in Ft. Wayne. Hmmm... I guess I always thought it was more of a cop-out insult for sophomoric, uncreative trolls with origins rooted in homophobia/transphobia? Whose usage is usually an incredibly strong indicator of ignorance, along with a preference for the literary works of Ayn Rand or the unwavering support for the US Presidential campaign of Donald Trump. My apologies, didn't mean to get butthur...no. Just no. That said, my parents lived in Ft. Wayne for around two years and I can confidently confirm that both the city and its inhabitants are generally pretty shitty. "Fort Wayne? What exactly do you have that's worth protecting?!?"* *Disclaimer: joke may have been stolen from Jerry Seinfeld's stand-up act in Ft. Wayne, IN circa 2004.
  19. Kenya was kind of a beast when we got him. Georgetown > Butler? Kenya has some recruiting cred after some of his gets here. If Lewis ends up being the best hire that will say something great about Lewis. Molinari was no slouch when we got him either (even if he catches hell on here), from a reputation in the basketball world. I love the Lewis hire, but from a "where's he at; what's he done" standpoint, I don't have him jumping out as the best hire. What metrics are you using for evaluation? Recruiting? Regular season performance? Post season performance? Some food for thought... GU w/ Hunter 2007-2008 - 28-6 - NCAA 2nd Round (won 1st round against #15 UMBC, lost 2nd round against #10 Davidson) 2008-2009 - 16-15 - NIT 1st Round (lost 1st round against Baylor) 2009-2010 - 23-11 - NCAA 1st Round (lost 1st round against #14 Ohio) 2010-2011 - 21-11 - NCAA 2nd Round (lost 2nd round against #11 VCU) 2011-2012 - 24-9 - NCAA 3rd Round (won 2nd round against #14 Belmont, lost 3rd round against #11 NC State) 2012-2013 - 25-7 - NCAA 2nd Round (lost 2nd round against #15 Florida Gulf Coast) BU w/ Lewis 2011-2012 - 22-15 - CBI Semifinal - (won 1st round against Delaware, won quarterfinal against Penn, lost semifinal against Pitt) 2012-2013 - 27-9 - NCAA 3rd Round (won 2nd round against #11 Bucknell, lost 3rd round against #3 Marquette) 2013-2014 - 14-17 - No post-season 2014-2015 - 23-11 - NCAA 3rd Round (won 2nd round against #11 Texas, lost 3rd round against #3 Notre Dame) 2015-2016 - 22-11 - NCAA 2nd Round (won 1st round against #8 Texas Tech, lost against #1 Virginia) GU won a grand total of two post-season games while Kenya was there. That's despite having TEN players that would play in the NBA, two of whom would be lottery picks. Hibbert narrowly missed being a lottery pick and probably would've been had he left after the conclusion of his junior season (before Kenya arrived). Granted, that's two more NCAA tourney games than we have ever won, but still...absolutely terrible given the talent they had to work with. Their wins were against a #14 and #15 seed, otherwise they were always upset by double-digit seeded teams. Kenya had no role in recruiting Hibbert, nor do I believe he played much of a part in bringing-in Monroe or Porter. Lewis had more NCAA tournament wins over his tenure with Butler than Hunter did with GU, and their losses came against #1 and #3 seeds. They did this with players who logged ZERO minutes in the NBA. And those last three years were without Brad Stevens, too. While he doesn't deserve all of the credit, he helped take a somewhat bare cupboard and get them back to the basketball Promised Land. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Kenya hire and still think he is an excellent coach, recruiter, and human being in general. Love his passion and commitment to our team, as well. But this was a case of one hire who was starting to trend downward, and one who is heading upward. Hunter made waves because of the GU pedigree and timing, early on in the Tim Miles Era, but I think Lewis is still a big splash. Hope to see them both have lots more success while wearing red!

  21. Whilst Googling Link's injury/trying to boost the page count of this thread, I came across this gem: http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/college/article3862237.html “Link is a kid that if we do our job, and I do my job, a year from now, we’re going to look out there and say, ‘Oh, boy, he’s got a chance to be special." - TCU Head Basketball Coach Trent Johnson on 06/14/2014 Flash forward exactly 21 months, after two straight seasons of receiving a Big XII ass-kicking... http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/14967751/tcu-horned-frogs-fire-coach-trent-johnson

  23. At most, there is a handful of "can't miss" bigs in each recruiting class. While I agree that our chances of landing one of them is nonexistent, I certainly wouldn't classify Jordy as a project by any means and I don't think his genetics are in question. At all. The dude AND his bro are pushing 7 feet! I'd say the genetics are definitely there. Hell, even MJ's older brother (Larry) was only 5' 8". He could still jump out the gym, though... Basketball scouting is by no means an exact science and the "experts" do still get it wrong from time to time, but their accuracy is generally much better than other sports. Body development is far less important than it is with say, football. Hence, this is why the top seniors have usually been scouted since the 6th grade. It's a skill game, and if a kid has the desire and determination to hone those skills at a young age -- or an obsessive father/uncle/handler that is hell-bent on cashing-in off the kid or living vicariously through them -- there's a damn good chance that will continue throughout their adolescence. The biggest wild card is the high school growth spurt. Larry Jordan was by far the better player than Michael up until the summer before MJ's junior year, when he grew five inches. For bigs, foot and knee injuries are often career killers, but weight gain is probably their biggest enemy (think Eddy Curry, Andrew Bynum, etc.). The fact that Jordy has worked hard to reshape his body is extremely encouraging. It shows discipline, self-control, and motivation. Those attributes are prerequisites for success at higher levels of athletics.
