This is going to take awhile, so please be patient with me. Years and years ago, soon after Dave started this website, a poster by the name of jimmykc (couldn't figure out why a guy from Kansas City was a Husker bball fan) started a thread called Enjoy Every Sandwich. I wondered what the heck he was talking about. Well, it was a reference to Warren Zevon's dealing with cancer. When you're diagnosed with it, that's what you do. All the little things, no matter how small, take on new meaning. You learn an appreciation for them. Jimmy, at that time, told us about the battle he was facing. Thank you, my friend, for sharing the beginning of that war. Had you not done that, I wouldn't have known you were victorious at battle's end. I wish I could tell you that I'm facing that same battle against cancer, but I can't. I would trade places in a heartbeat. My 23 year old son Seth has been diagnosed with MDS--Myelodysplastic Syndromes. It's in the leukemia family. (kind of the same way that Baal is in the Beelezubub family). He's a trooper. He's spent two weeks at UNMC, undergone 3 bone marrow biopsies, 15 blood transfusions and numerous other tests. And guess what? He's still working! And always has a smile on his face. I love that kid! So why am I sharing? Several reasons. 1) Don't sweat the little stuff. I mean," why didn't you throw your dirty clothes in the hamper" bitching really sucks. 2) I don't care how old you are, you're not guaranteed tomorrow. 3) focus on the important things--God, family and doing good. And last, but most importantly, when Seth is completely healed, God is gonna get a big High Five! Speaking of "High Five, A Cancer Survivor's Poetic Journey" page 55. "Medicine is the art of taking strangers' problems and treating them like your own. Poetry is the art of taking your own problems And sharing them with strangers." Thanks, jimmy.

Who are we going to target for our new assistant
cipsucks replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Jimmy, I bet you secretly had "Walter" tattooed on a body part last year. How did that work out? And, did that body part also have a lot of shots that went in and out? -
Many of those protecting the police, stopping people from entering/looting stores, stopping the burning of police cars are bloods and crips who have pledged to never commit violent acts against each other from here forward in the city of Baltimore. On an unrelated note, the Iranians have pledged to never build a nuclear weapon.

I bet he had to put his phone on silent to eat dinner. Hard to spin? We hire ambitious guys who other people want and are willing to outpay us for. There are a lot worse problems to have with your coaching staff. We've got our stability/head coach type hire in Molinari (who also happens to be a pretty good Illinois recruiter) No doubt we're on the look out for a guy (assuming we don't already have him) that can recruit in a section of the country/world we hope to tap into. You sound like you need to talk this over with me over a beer before a baseball game Sounds like a plan. I am a little despondent over the last 90 days or so....beer and baseball can cure about anything, however! Throw in penicilin and all your bases are covered!

Man, talk about doing some heavy lifting.....

Thank you, ajb. I was just about to say the same thing. Except I might have worked a Standhardinger reference in there somewhere.

Terran Petteway's Mother has passed away.
cipsucks replied to ShortDust's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Terran, I lost my dad when I was 26, my mom 9 years later. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. It never gets easier, but the pain eventually turns to fond memories. -
I hope this country still exists...

Nigel Hayes wasn't the only one caught by an open mic
cipsucks replied to Norm Peterson's topic in College Basketball
Fondle that nipple? No wait. That was a German guy..... -
Standhardinger, is that you?
-
Yet another victim of your campaign, jimmy. First the season, now a career.....
-
Me too. I had no idea you could get a degree in ethnic studies.
-
Just curious. What does one do with a degree in ethnic studies? This question comes from a person who has his degree in broadcast communications, being in sales since forever and is trying his hand in the restaurant business...

After the weekend sweep, I wonder if Augie is next on the list.... I still hate the frickin' Longhorns.
-
One of my favorite Hollies songs..... As long as you're at it, Silverbacked, you might as well up arrow this, too.

For the cerebral types: a little thought provocation

Jerry Shoecraft. -
I'm in that camp. It's kind of now or never for him. Some wonder if his style fits Riley's offense, so maybe NU is out of consideration. Who knows? Seems like a really high quality individual. Never been caught in a park with a topless chick.....

Given the circumstances, if he changed his mind and does the transfer thing, I wouldn't say it's a dishonest thing. There could be other circumstances that have arisen. For example, if his mom's situation worsens, he may try to play closer to home. Well, there's a simple solution. Let's make his home closer to Lincoln. We can start a fund to pay for his family's housing here in Nebraska. Hell, our weather is warmer than that crap they have in Texas, anyway. Screw the NCAA and their heartless regulations. They fight this, it just gives the Power Conferences one more reason to tell them to pack sand. I'd gladly contribute financially to this cause. I'm cip, and I approved this message.

I think we should kill all the golfers....

Hal, you're currently up 60 points over gobigredbrah and his Miles needs to go speculation drivel.

I guarantee a Husker win tonight. Stone cold lock, baby! -
Game Day Essentials: Game #30 vs #10 Maryland
cipsucks replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
The line in the paper has Maryland favored by 3. Mrs cip is taking 3 women to tonight's game. Nebraska has never lost a game she's attended. -
MCMXVI That would be the last time NU won an outright conference championship in mens basketball. jimmy was there.....

Barfknecht talked about Husker losing streaks over the past 40 years in today's OWH. I didn't see it posted in the media thread. Sorry if someone already linked it somewhere in the forum.
