  1. Couple of quick notes. I'm pretty sure Fuller is gonna play. Miles has a history of knowing how to utilize skilled players, particularly guys who can stroke it from deep. I'm doubting he redshirts, but I guess we'll see. On the topic of redshirting, sometimes good players redshirt for other reasons than academics or concerns about playing time. Sometimes guys want that extra year to be in college just to adjust and have fun. A redshirt year can do wonders for a players confidence, especially if they have the green light on the scout team. The recruiting class of 89 is a good example. Piatkowski, probably the greatest player to ever wear a Husker jersey, had a huge list of offers coming out of high school, could have went pretty much wherever he wanted. And there was no doubt he could play from day 1. However, he chose to redshirt which his father (a former pro) was in favor of as well. Not because of academics, and not because of playing time concerns, but because that extra year can help establish players on the floor and in the classroom.

  3. The whole thing is rather obvious. They know we are at least a threat to make a lot of progress. They are super threatened as they know who is boss in this state if both teams are good. They cannot handle that thought so they try to bad mouth us and our recent problems as much as they possibly can. Going to be hilarious if we get good and they start to struggle. Going to have some people lose their minds. People like double douche/Creighton fan or whatever else he goes by.

  6. It is also important to realize and understand...this is not college basketball of ten years ago. There was a time where a coach would go to a player and simply say, you are redshirting and it was a done deal. Today, more often than not, a player will not redshirt unless HE wants to redshirt. The players are keeping the redshirt in their pocket in case they wish to transfer. By doing so, they save a year of eligibility. I am not saying any of our kids want to transfer, but one has to wonder why someone like Vooch, did not redshirt last year. Yes there are explanations, all of which seem a bit lame, but what the heck.

    Creighton jibber jabber

It seems the feeling is quite mutual. Or a little more than mutual. Here's a post from Bluejay Bilas (which, as an aside, would be a more clever nickname if it was BlueJay Bilas -- subtle, but it makes a difference) from the Bluejay Underground site: I'm not half the Husker hater some of you are. Nor, am I a Husker football fan like a few of you. When we're not playing them, I'm kind of ambivalent. But, I could not help but chuckle this morning when I saw that Tim Miles' first 2015 commit is an Aussie. Dude (Miles, not the Aussie) comes in basically trashing the harmless and mostly good-natured Doc Sadler by saying that he (Miles, not Sadler) only enjoys jucos and international players in moderation. Fast forward about 18 months, and he's signed up, if my memory's correct, 2 jucos, 3 international players, 2 transfers (i.e., jucos who attended a 4-year rather than a junior college for a year or two), and 3 high school kids. 10 Miles kids for the '12 through '15 classes so far, and only three are American high school recruits. So, basically Miles is half publicist with a whistle and clipboard, and half "turnaround artist" who can't actually execute the recruiting strategy he wants to execute. Don't be surprised when #Nebrasketball finishes between 10th and 14th the next four seasons, and a new coach begins telling the media that he doesn't see twitter as a useful coaching tool, and that he values actions more than words. I put the quote in italics in a pretty font because that seemed to be more suitable for the refined sensibilities of our Creighton friends. But, beyond that ... Seriously? This guy frickin' knows the origin of every player Miles has recruited since he's been here? And we're the ones obsessed with THEM? Hey, top that, Husker fans. How many jucos has Greg McDermott recruited to Creighton? Anyone? Yeah, I don't know either. P.S. There's nothing that says "ambivalent" quite like knowing the origin of every recruit signed by the Huskers since Miles has been here.
