WBB: Game #25 vs Michigan State

Some luck is involved as to when you play teams.  On the negative side we played Iowa and Northwestern when they were much better early in the season and we caught Minne when they were playing much better later in the season.  On the positive we probably caught Mich. St. when they were tired from having a makeup game stuck in between two other ones.

 

The exciting thing is that the players Redsteve is talking about are mostly under classmen.

So far Banham & co. aren't having the night that they had against the Huskers.

Exciting game nevertheless!  3;00 left, Minny leads 69-64!  (Banham w/ a trey, naturally)

 

Ia w 3 quick buckets lead by one.

 

Now Minny w a bucket leads by one (71-70).  This one going down to the wire  1:19 left.

 

0:24.5 left,. Minny w/ 1 pt lead, 73-72, TO on floor,  IA w/ ball when we come back!

 

18.9 left,. 74-73 IA after 2 FTS.

 

17.8 left.  75- 74 Min, IA will get the ball after TO on floor (MN Last TO)

 

IA leads with bucket, 8.7 sec left.

 

Minny WINS on Buzzer Beater Trey by (who else) Banham.  78-76!

Speaking of fouls...the game cast said Minn only shot one free throw. (on a three point play in last min. or so).

 

Iowa shot about 14 free throws, and made them all.  Iowa doesn't foul apparently?

i would have jumped all over banham once she got near the perimeter. make her get rid of it. take your chances with someone else. i was being interrupted, but, i believe iowa just had one player trying to pressure her? and, geez, what about the fouls for iowa? didn't they have at least one to give?

To be honest, when I saw the replay of Banham hitting the game winning 3, it looked like a Gopher had a moving screen that got her open.

If you watch the replay Banham man got a moving screen put on her and that freed her to get the shot off. Should have been a moving on Edwards and iowa ball. I don't know why iowa didn't put a taller person her.
