We all know Ryan for his shooting in college and his keyboard and vocal skills, but what is he up to now?

Ryan was on the Windsor Express, an NBL of Canada expansion team that formed in 2012, and won the championship in 2013. He was the 2nd team NBL all-star in 2014 and the three-point shootout champion.

It also sounds like he's been through a whirlwind the last year or so. "He was home in Seattle working and recovering from an ankle injury that troubled him throughout the season. The Express traded his rights to Moncton, who couldn’t sign him. They flipped him to the Lightning."

But things seem to be on the upswing now. "Anderson hasn’t been playing competitively since last year but he will get some playing time this weekend." “He’s 100 per cent healthy right now,” he said. “He obviously doesn’t have his game legs. I don’t have great expectations immediately but I do know that his experience and leadership is exactly what we need at this point.”

Funny story.

About four years ago, I was on a business trip to visit a vendor in a small town in southern Germany, like halfway between Munich and Frankfurt.  It was scheduled at the last minute and I could barely get into the small, family-run hotel which I typically stayed at.  My second night at the hotel, I was arriving back to the hotel after a late night at work with my colleague from New Jersey.  As we picked-up our room keys at the front desk -- you had to drop them off in a basket when you left for the day so that they'd have a key to get into your room to clean it -- my weary eyes started to gaze into the hotel restaurant.  I saw a gentleman that looked a bit confused standing there, wearing what appeared to be Nebraska team-issued shorts and a t-shirt.  It was Ryan Anderson!

I walked-up and said hello and shook his hand, then explained how I knew him.  Ryan was absolutely floored and we had a long conversation, much to the chagrin of my colleague from New Jersey haha!  Ryan even ran upstairs to his room to grab me his business card, which was indeed a business card, but with his stats and contact information on it.  He had just recently been signed to the local team in Germany and was trying to work on getting a more permanent spot on the team.  He told me to hit him up some time and we could grab dinner or a drink together, but unfortunately I didn't have time.
