AuroranHusker
https://twitter.com/kurtdirt/status/660301953151270912 A familiar face made the tribute to the site, which ESPN pulled the plug yesterday on Grantland.
jimmykc
That is pretty sweet. I have the site bookmarked and was shocked to see our guy was one of the five now immortalized in pop culture, since I would suppose this message will be left up indefinitely. I recognize Rogin and Duchovny but who are the female and the football player who serve as TP's companions?
jimmykc
Ok then, I'll guess myself. Drew Barrymore and Jameis Winston
49r
I was kind of thinking Kate Hudson from "Almost Famous" for the girl and the football player has an Arizona Cardinals uniform on (if you zoom in real close the helmet says "Cardinals" above the facemask). Like, maybe Pat Tilman except he wore #40. This jersey looks more like #80 or #60 or something like that, but it's definitely someone from the Arizona Cardinals. AuroranHusker
I think that might be Kate Hudson, as far as the player it could be #20, #30, or #32 for the AZ Cardinals (or #60 or #80, like 9er stated).
swoof
That's pretty cool TP5 made the Grantland RIP banner. I'm incredibly disappointed ESPN axed it. Simmons went out on a bad note and apparently worked behind the scenes to make it even worse but Grantland had a lot of great writing. I follow a lot of free lance sports writers on twitter and they were all losing it over this. I hope some organization that doesn't have monetary ties to any of the major sports leagues pops up to provide a platform for that kind of writing. But hey, maybe ESPN can add another couple hours of First Take or a clone show that appeals to the same audience. Here is one of my favorite tweets making fun of First Take's stupid argument for the sake of argument model.
Blackshirt83
Is that Rod Tidwell?
jimmykc
Good guess, blackshirt, but Rod's number was 85 and it doesn't appear the second number on the jersey is a 5. However in researching the Grantland archives I did discover the chick is Heather Graham in her iconic role as "roller girl" in Boogie Nights. And that , my friends, is how a retired guy spends his time on a Wednesday morning. Norm Peterson, aphilso1 and 49r
49r
Well done with the Heather Graham research, jimmy. That's been eating at me all week! Case 1/2 closed!
aphilso1
I think it's the Honey Badger. http://grantland.com/features/tyrann-mathieu-arizona-cardinals/ jimmykc

AuroranHusker
Amazing what a rabblerouser band of hooligans can accomplish. Grantland had that, too.
