ajb5856 Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Watching the MSU/Ilinois game. Student section just did something interesting, I think. I think it was intentional anyway. And maybe this has gone on in other games across the country and I just haven't recognized it. Anyway...in the past it's been common for the crowd to count down the shot clock in a rushed manner, ahead of the true time in an attempt to force a rushed shot by the opposing team. What the Izzone just did was as the shot clock was ticking down, they began counting down but the actual clock was ahead of them. So an attempt to force a shot clock violation by possibly making the ball handler think there was more time on the clock than there really was. Noah121 and hhcmatt 2 Quote

We do play them twice so overall we probably need the RPI boost vs the marquee win. If we're going to get anywhere as at at large we'll have to do so with big wins Quote

In the first half they will start the countdown from 10 when the shot clock is at like 14, then in the second half they switch and start the countdown from 10 when the clock is at like 8. It's a thing they do. Noah121 and hhcmatt 2 Quote

AuroranHusker Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 I think the Spartans need to practice their free-throw shooting. You'd think they were heavily guarded when takin' a 'free' shot... Quote
Crush78 Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 they did the more conventional countdown against us last year until Rivers buried a three when he thought the shot clock was running out. hhcmatt and AuroranHusker 2 Quote
Noah121 Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 I will sometimes count down on the "Fast" or the "Slow" countdown, and mix it up. Every once in a while I will give true count... in Hebrew! This is more effective at the women's games, since at Northwestern there are no other students who regularly attend. trickey 1 Quote
