Great article. What many college programs are just now putting into place is something that NU has been doing since the '80's thanks to TO.

On a Monday after commencement’s pomp and circumstance officially loses its luster, Dennis Leblanc had an interesting comment about one of the 55 Nebraska student-athletes who graduated last Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Leblanc’s observation came from the heart and revolved around a Nebraska men’s basketball season ticket holder who only misses a game if it conflicts with his work schedule at the Lancaster County Juvenile Detention Center.

Only what I remember from the papers at the time.  IIRC, he felt like he was stuck between a rock and a hard place, not wanting to cross his teammates and seem disloyal to them, but not feeling like he could jeopardize his scholarship either.  So, he did his job and went to practice.  That's what I remember.  I assume there's an inside story in there somewhere that I'm not privy to.

I know I've said this before, but when the team walked out on Danny Nee, only two players showed up for practice:  Tyron Lue and Bernard Garner.  That took a lot of guts.  I've been a Garner fan ever since.

Ever hear the story as to why Bernard showed up for practice...

Does it have to do with Danny's better half?

There are interesting legal rules on defamation in the social media. Don't know what story in the offing is here, but you can't defame someone who is no longer a public figure. Just saying.

Yes, probably better not to kick such a long dead horse. By the way, it appears Danny is still without a job following his resignation after an "incident" involving a student at the Merchant Marine Academy last winter. I wonder if he has retired or if he still is interested being an ambassador for Nebraska basketball?
