I am not sure whether this article and the behaivior of Matt Costello torks me off, or makes me laugh.  I do know this, we are NOT going to sneak up on teams any longer.  I am sure this will make it on some bulletin boards:

"I just didn't play very hard, to be honest with you," Costello said. "I played out of it, I didn't respect Nebraska..."

"He took advantage of me because I was just chillin'."

"...I mean, I've been playing alright lately, but against Nebraska I just came out like I did sometimes in high school, like it was going to be a walk in the park...."

Well...

Since everyone left on our schedule is someone we've played before (minus Wisconsin), I doubt we were going to sneak up on anyone anyway.

True and I hope our boys have this tacked up on every bodies iPad on locker so that they see what can happen if you don't work hard all the time.

I know people have letdowns, but, jeesh, to me, that kid lacks character. I wouldn't want a kid who approached the game like that on my roster. You only get so many opportunities to lace it up. You should make the most of every chance you get.

Hmmm - kind of makes Izzo's comments about NU playing like junkyard dogs and like his teams USED to play make a little more sense. Sounds like he's a pretty soft player, not someone I'd want on my team either.

What does Coach Miles always say about getting popped in the mouth and then it's all about how you respond? Well he got popped in the mouth on the first shot of the game and curled up into the fetal position from the way it sounds.  ;)

Also could be a player whose confidence is slipping, so he tries to convince himself that he just isn't taking things seriously enough and that's why he's not getting the results. More often it's because he's just not good enough.

This kid is the real deal tho. The area of Michigan he's from doesn't really have a lot of good teams, so he probably got very used to coasting. He's a good talent, but he just needs to learn not to take anyone for granted. Especially in conference play

Probably not a college athlete who hasn't loafed it once or came to one game mentally unprepared. The key is to learn from it. I don't think one slip-up speaks to character, it speaks to a mistake by a college athlete.
