Washington isn't great on the mound, so need the bats to wake up or it's going to be a rough start. (Could probably say the same thing for most of our B1G series at this point - losing Mac is a killer because he gave us something most teams in the B1G don't have right now.)

Gotta score a lot of runs to win DHs. They have a lot of right-handed pitching, so our lefties (and switch-hitter) - Sanderson, Frost, Buttenback, Nunez, Silva/Bolin, Overbeek - have to get some things done.

Washington has played a pretty tough non-con schedule so far and been a little better than expected, so it won't be easy. They beat K-State on the opening weekend, but their bullpen is shaky and they've been awful in tight games -- 0-4 already in 1- and 2-run games.

Gonna guess we get 2 out of 3, but nothing would surprise me at this point. If we really swing the bats, a sweep is definitely a possibility. If we're awful at the plate again and our starters struggle in their new roles, things could unravel fast.

If we do have to chase runs, I will say this is a good team to do it against. They aren't great at holding leads - blew a 2-run and 3-run lead in the back half of games in back to back losses to Stanford and a 6-run back-half lead vs Illinois. Have to keep pushing and can't feel sorry for ourselves if things start slow.

They'll give us some walks if we work counts. They give up some extra base hits, too, so whether we can get ahead in counts and then punish mistakes in the zone will probably decide the series. Bolt loves to "win" 3-2 counts. Going to need that stat to show up big time this weekend.

Hope we're not feeling sorry for ourselves without Mac. Would be very helpful if Horn hangs a few zeroes to start the game & gives everyone a shot of confidence.

Thankfully both Walsh and Brockett have had starting experience already, so they should be in somewhat of a rhythm. For Ty, hopefully he takes this as an opportunity to be "the man" and set the tone each week.

The season is young yet.

It is early, but we are not playing well at all.  It feels like the 2022 season.  Plus, we lost our best pitcher for the season.  I hope I'm wrong, and this team starts putting it together.

Everybody wrote off the Women's Basketball team when they lost two starters but they seem to kind of get it turned around that's kind of impressed with that last picture they brought in walkowitz or or however you say his name

The nice thing is baseball is such a long season. Lots of games left.

The bad thing is that we appear wayyy off. Like it isn’t just some bats that need to come around, or can’t figure out our Sunday guy, or mid-week pitching. Right now, it’s kind of everything.

Its like these guys lost some of that swagger we had on night two against Vandy.

This team is really not playing well.  Carey's had an extremely rough game.  Doubles, and gets picked off 2nd.  Can't get the bunt down and strikes out.  Jeske hits a tailor-made double play to end the inning.  Would have tied the game with runners at 3rd and 2nd.  Sums up the season.

We had some bad luck today, but mentally strong teams find a way to overcome bad luck. We are not anywhere near that team right now.

Hate to waste such a good start by Walsh.

Brumbaugh has to be in the lineup, but he is not ready to play CF at Haymarket. With the angles and extra space in center, you can't play that shallow unless you get better jumps and have plus-plus speed. Not his fault I'd say, as he's still learning how to play the position. But it's always taken a special defensive player to be successful in CF at Haymarket, and the coaches should know that. Whichever coach is having him play so shallow needs to re-evaluate.

Just one issue among several. Getting a runner picked off second that badly is another. Base coaches dropped the ball there big time.

Stared at way too many 3rd strikes against a lousy pitching staff.

I know we're only one-quarter of the way into the season, but we're in huge trouble. Playing terrible, mentally soft baseball.

Gotta find a way to bounce-back. These winter delays always seem to screw with NU this time of year. Maybe the players need to just nut it up & play ball. IDK. It's frustrating to see our boys suck in the one men's sport that has actually done something, i.e. win a B1G title, in the past decade.

This is the Christo Nebraska was hoping to see.  The problem with us this year is we have an outing like this and his next outing he walks 5 and gives up 10 runs.  For those drowning our sorrows, we are up 4 - 0 at 7th inning stretch time.
