bobcat402 Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Watching buddy play for oklahoma is just playing depressing, knowing there was a good chance he could of been a husker. And Jonathan Holmes playing dosnt help any at all. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Jonathan Holmes obviously wanted to go to a more distinguished hoops program than Nebraska. Which is how he ended up at Texas. And speaking of Texas, with their loss to Oklahoma, they now enjoy a worse record overall and in the Big 12 than what we have overall and in the B1G. But man could we ever use a 6'7" 240# power forward who (as a sophomore) puts up 8 points and pulls down 7.5 rebounds per game. That would meet a need. Quote
bobcat402 Posted January 22, 2013 Author Report Posted January 22, 2013 there are 3 players on their roster id like to see come to NU Quote
49r Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Watching Big XII games I keep thinking to myself, "hey, we could win some games in this league!" Funny how we went from being in the Big XII at a time it was probably as good as it has ever been to the B1G, just as it was becoming the nation's best conference in hoops. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Hmm, so whereever we go, the league becomes the best. Interesting. Could it be...oh, never mind. Quote

But consider this. The league is the top in the nation DESPITE the fact it has us in it. Let that little morsel sink in for a bit. Quote
hhcmatt Posted November 17, 2014 Report Posted November 17, 2014 A lot of you have "What-If" guys. This one is mine. Buddy started the season off 7-7 from 3 Pt Range. bobcat402 1 Quote

hhcmatt Posted November 17, 2014 Report Posted November 17, 2014 Doc always did have a good eye for talent . . . This was during the Tim Miles era. Hield was an injury risk coming out of HS. I'm not sure how strongly we pursued him http://ouhoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24981 Quote
Swan88 Posted November 17, 2014 Report Posted November 17, 2014 My recollection is that Doc pursued Buddy Hield VERY hard and came up short . . . go figure. Buddy was in the same 2012 class as Shavon and Benny--all are from Kansas or thereabouts. Rivals lists Buddy as being "Recruited by Doc Sadler, Wes Flanigan." I remember reading some recruiting reports back in that recruiting cycle that Doc really, really wanted Buddy to come here. There is a September 21, 2011, Rivals article in which Buddy talked about a visit to Lincoln and that Nebraska was "recruiting me very hard." Buddy committed to Oklahoma on September 23, 2011, according to Rivals. Tim Miles was hired at Nebraska in early 2012. Quote
49r Posted November 17, 2014 Report Posted November 17, 2014 Doesn't matter...Creighton was in on him waaay before Nebraska was anyway. Guarantee. Swan88 and Silverbacked1 2 Quote

Norm Peterson Posted November 17, 2014 Report Posted November 17, 2014 Yeah, the way I remember Buddy was he was waaaay under the radar and we thought we were his leader and the reports were that he was way better than how he was ranked. At one point, we were considered the leader for him. And then OU, with their negative recruiting, convinced him that Sadler was not long for the program here (they were right) and he ended up at OU instead. Obviously, he would have been a good one for us. Can you believe we're ranked within 3 spots of OU, notwithstanding how much of a head start they've had on us? Quote

Norm, I was trolling the OUHoops board this morning to get some reaction on their game last night and I came across this gem of a thread: http://ouhoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32806 Now, clearly, their ignorance can be forgiven seeing as how we haven't played them in many years and given their propensity to...not care...for hoops in Oklahoma, but it was just another reminder of how Nebrasketball hasn't done anything yet to move the needle on the give-a-crap-o-meter nationally, or even regionally yet. Silverbacked1 Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 Well at least we didn't get the " they have a basketballteam" crap. Quote
