Agree.  Circumstances sort of cornered him into a no win situation.
 
The tourney run coupled with all the attention for leaving town with the team still alive and a post season berth now in limbo made it an almost impossible situation to handle cleanly.
 
What cound he he have done to put the fire out? 
 
1 -  Cutting Miles loose tonight looks really  bad, especially not being there.  Not to mention isn’t real fair to the team or staff if they want to give the a NIT a shot. 
 
2 - Say nothing and speculation continues to get even crazier.  Don’t think for a second the media, especially the OWH, wouldn’t pounce on the silence and create some kind of $hitstorm.
 
3- Or give a statement that is consistent with what you’ve said all year and that a decision will be made once the season ends.  I guess “season ends” could taken a few different ways, so defining it as after any post season tournament makes sense to me.. 
 
IDK. The only other option would be to retain him tonight but even then you’re going to get heat from critics saying everyone else turned you down.

Bill’s not dumb, he knows if he’s silent until Sunday or into next week he will have 1,000 interview requests from reporters asking him about Tim. Putting out a statement squashed those writers trying to sell papers the next couple days speculating on Miles job.

Never have I said ‘wow this arena is so cool, this makes me want to go to a game’ IMO new isn’t always better.  Much like houses, arenas that are brand new have zero character. We go to support the great talent that miles brought in. 
 
Moos is a little b. 

If consistency was the dealbreaker, Miles will be fired. The team in the B1G tournament was good enough to dance but they went 2-11 during a critical stretch and completely pissed away any of those hopes. Just like we followed up our only other good season with a giant turd.  Miles has done good things, but consistency certainly isn't one of them.

Also for all intents and purposes Marc Boehm has been acting AD for hoops for quite some time ... the restructuring has changed that. Moos is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't in this situation. I think his statement could've included at least an acknowledgment of the run in the tourney, but otherwise it's following his typical policy of not making decisions (or making decisions public) during the season. People here are emotional about things ... fans are emotional right now too ... logic goes out the window and I imagine the administration knows that. You open yourself up to a lot more backlash by making a decision right now. Fire him and refuse an NIT bid and people cry out because we had a nice run in the tourney in Chicago and didn't get to follow it up at all. No win situation ...

Most embarrassing thing I heard today is Andy Katz comments on Nebrasketball. Know your place and be happy being decent every once and a while. While you're at it gang, go throw a ring on the first 5 you see at the bar. Lets set this bar as low as we possible can.
