  1. This is disappointing. But heck, its always how a team finishes the season. There are nine games left (with some luck we could win them all), plus the B1G Tournament After all, we took the #13 team (who's undefeated in the B1G) to the wire last night, on the road. And it took some really bad luck at the end for the Buckeyes to pull it out. Every time I see a replay of Isaiah Roby with that clear path to the bucket from the corner--and then the defender gets that pure-luck steal from behind . . . the win just wasn't meant to be. Onward and upward!
  2. Presumably, Kenya wants a parochial school education for his son, and Lincoln Pius and Wahoo Neumann don’t provide the level of competition and supporting cast that he wants.
  3. That’s impressive. Or is Omaha South really bad these days?
  4. And, in light of last night's results, it's obvious that Michigan is 37 places better than Nebrasketball.
  5. I swear that I heard someone on The B1G Show refer to Isaiah Roby as "one of the best Sophomores in the Country." Any one else catch that?
  6. Here is the embedded tweet:
  7. It will be interesting to see how Florent Thamba does as time goes by. Will he be a project that develops over time into something great? On that score, tonight’s televised games are reminiscent of a couple bigs we recruited hard several years ago. LSU is playing: remember Elbert Robinson III? He’s never produced much and is sitting out this season (he would be a Senior) for undisclosed medical reasons. Georgia is also on tonight: remember Michael Edwards? He is a Junior now at Georgia and playing very little.
  8. The end of a season is always more important than the beginning--in every sport. Over the rest of this basketball season, some of the highly-regarded teams will fall off the radar and lesser-ones will rise. Most years, Nebrasketball deals at this time with injuries on a shallow roster that torpedo our season. This year, it looks like we've dodged a bullet on the injury front . . . so far -- and Jordy's issue (which undoubtedly cost us the Penn St. game--and almost the Illinois game) is deferred to the end of this season. If such good fortune and good depth continues, odds are good for a last-half-season surge for Nebrasketball. Here's hoping for the best!!
  9. Ha! We are behind three teams we beat decisively. That KenPom computer must be drinkin’ again.
  10. Early season losses can be taken with a grain of salt, since five new players were being worked into the rotation (Anton Gill is included in the five because of injury limitations in the past).
  11. Moos's statements like "I thought the game was coached well” and "I was extremely impressed" and "great fans, super support" and "just taking a first brush at it, I feel like we’re in a fairly good place” can mean nothing but positive things for Tim Miles & Co. We're mid-season and the AD is supporting the coach with public comments--even before he's had a formal conversation with the Coach about the state of the program. Absent a melt-down from here on out, Tim Miles and Kenya Hunter and Michael Lewis and Jim Molinari should be doing high-fives.
  12. These Moos quote from the article are telling: “I liked our energy, I think we’ve got some real good talent, I thought the game was coached well,” Moos said. “It was the first time I’ve seen PBA for a basketball game and I was extremely impressed. Well-staged event, great fans, super support. So I look at our record, look at the conference and, just taking a first brush at it, I feel like we’re in a fairly good place.”
  13. PSU played at Indiana yesterday without one of PSU's best players: he stayed home, reportedly, for academic reasons--and the expectation is that he'll be out for only one game. At the same time, Indiana played against PSU without one of their bigs, who was averaging something like 9 points and 4 rebounds per game--this player blew out his knee and will not return this season. Indiana won 70-74.
  14. One problem is the delay in getting out of the parking garages after a game ends. I parked on the top level of the P Street garage once. I left shortly after halftime but won’t park in a garage again for fear of not getting out until midnight—perhaps the problem is not so great, but it looks awful!
  15. Didn’t know there was such a thing as a “look” foul. I’ve heard of “touch” fouls. But a “look” foul has got to be something new.
  16. Remember the play in the first half when Glynn was driving toward the baseline, and one of the Purdue bigs just ran him out of bounds? Can they do that?
  17. Touche’
  18. Oregon St. just now beat Oregon by double digits: 76-64. And it looks like we won the lottery getting Isaac Copeland instead of Paul White.
  19. What’s with the expressions of bitterness on this board by fans of the school in Eastern Omaha toward the Huskers? Perhaps it’s because Nebrasketball is making progress. After all: —We have 9 wins by Christmas Day. —One of our losses is an away game against a top 5 team. —Two losses are to top 25 teams in away games—one of which could easily have gone the other way. —One loss is a one-pointer at home to Kansas. —We have only one other loss—and it’s not a bad one. —Players are progressing well, and the team is getting better quickly If the Huskers can stay healthy, this will be an excellent year!
  20. Ha! Yeah. For a first few posts, Grandpapa’s surliness is over the top: a Mr. Grumpypants Papa. The Grinch has come to Husker Hoops Central. Maybe we could do a special showing of the movie, “Grumpy Old Men” or “The Trolls.” Or . . . better yet, the Huskers could keep on winning.
  21. I’ve watched this video several times. Very cool!! It never gets old.
