  1. Thanks for posting, Grandpapa. Sorry to hear of your unhappiness with what you saw. And here’s my take as a Grandpa, who has gone to a game or two with my Granddaughter (I've been attending Nebrasketball games most years since 1977): —The three point line is a huge blessing. My old long shots only counted for two (and “long shots” had a double meaning). —I love the Vault. Wouldn’t want to go back to the Devany for anything. —Thank God for the shot clock. The old Iba days of passing forever to feed Smith in the post for a layup (I don’t remember many dunks) are, happily, gone. —College players seem much more athletic and play more physically these days, from what I remember in the past. —I love the chairs for this old fanny and back. Now . . . if the Huskers can keep it going this year, I’ll be one happy Grandpa!!
  2. By the way, anyone notice that USTA's #1 Deon Lyle, who had 15 points last night (5 of 6 from three) off the bench, is listed on USTA's roster as hailing from Hastings, Nebraska. It says he played his first two years at Hastings High School. Check it out here from the Official USTA Roster.
  3. Some observations: ---USTA played Oklahoma tough -- lost by a score that's roughly comparable to ours (85-97) ----What's with Copeland doing a little jump on his free throw? It looks bad -- like he's lost confidence in his shot. ---On Isaiah Roby, (i) a couple of his fouls were from someone else getting beat on defense, as he tried to clean up for the error, and (ii) it'd be nice to see a lot more of his drive-and-dunk moves. --Jordy did some good things: diving on the floor to tie up a loose ball with a USTA guard was important, he altered some down-under shots, and he had some nice rebounds and a put-back. He'll come around. --Evan's free throw stroke looked really good and rarely touched the rim -- a little different than last year's Iowa game.
  4. I thought it was funny that the other team spread their fouls around well among all their players. With all the fouls they had, there were few players on the other team in serious foul trouble until the very end.
  5. Wow, Husker Power. Thanks for the data and analysis. Seriously! Much appreciated,
  6. The amazing thing about basketball is the difference the last shot falling or missing has in a game like this. It goes in ... and there is unbounded elation and optimism that follows. The team is great. The coach is great. The players are great. The opposition was great. It doesn’t ... and dejection and gloom prevail for a long time. The team is terrible. The coach is terrible. The players are terrible. And the opposition is overrated, Yet, it’s the same game with everything the same, but for one last shot.
  7. No clue what that means. But go big red.
  8. That’s a pretty low standard.
  9. Refs are on retainer at the Clink
  10. Here's something I think is significant for the State of Nebraska's flagship University: When the Huskers are good at something, high schools and local and regional colleges in the area get good at the same thing as well! That's been true, for example, in football for decades . . . and it's true of volleyball . . . and it's becoming true in academics (now that we're in the B1G) and other areas as well. No other institution in the State of Nebraska, or in any adjacent state, can say anything remotely similar! This is something for which Husker Nation can be exceedingly proud!
  11. Here's an Omaha World-Herald article from this morning on Isaiah Roby.
  12. Ha! Typical Nebraska luck when it really counts. And the ref was right there . . . looking right at it. Scheesh. Here's the new rule, based on the MU and CU games: If two players from the same team run into each other, Nebraska committed a foul.
  13. Gotta love the progress of this Husker team. But reading the other team’s fan comments on this board and on RRS, you’d think the game was a blowout of an overmatched team that has terrible coaches and poor players, not a down-to-the-wire deal. Among the worst comments I’ve seen is that the foul discrepancy was due to the “pedigree” team getting the “benefit of the doubt.” Whatever.
  14. Nebrasketball is making improvement this year: from a blowout loss to a mediocre St John to a shoulda/coulda game today, with a top-15 win along the way. If the injury bug stays away, things are looking up.
  15. Creighton should be feeling pretty lucky on this one.
  16. It’s not KenPom, but check this out for a pleasant surprise: And here’s the embedded tweet:
  17. Last night I had the app downloaded and the red glow showing. I also had my flashlight on. But the light stayed on all the time and didn’t flash. So . . . what operator-error is responsible for that?
  18. Ha! Since we won, that’s pretty funny!!! This video should go on some “bloopers” show.
