  1. This guy looks to have really good length and athleticism. Reminds me of Durant...obviously not as skilled, but in terms of body type and athleticism. Seems like he gets off the floor with very little effort.
  2. Yes, they need to step into the current century in terms of technology. But doing so would prevent them to keeping a shroud of mystery surrounding football and basketball tickets, which I think they get off on. It's laughable that they have a "wait-list" for either sport since there are tons of seats available for both football and basketball. It should be a transparent process where at this point, everything that is available is shown online and you can pick where you want to sit/donate without having to have some ticket office lackey fib to you about what they have.
  3. Let's play the CBI in the Coliseum. Dust off the porta-court from the Qwest game and do this!
  4. No it goes all the way down to the floor, what you are seeing is just the permanent seats.
  5. DJ Byrd, the resident Team Bro (every team has one, I think...). You know the type...buys Jaeger bombs by the boatload at the bar, wears a lot of Affliction, listens solely to gangsta rap and likely has a penis the size of my travel lipstick. You never leave That Guy open on the perimeter, though, because basically his one purpose on the team is to shoot 3s. The only time the other guys on the team are willing to act like they know him socially is when he makes them. So he does. And I would dearly love one more opportunity for one of our seniors to straight-up own him. Hilarious...not sure if I ever remember seeing you post before but that is a classic!
  6. I just remember him and Diaz working over those Texas big men all game long back when we beat them in 2011. The future for those two was very bright back then. Sad to see that neither reached their true potential.
  7. Totally agree, actually wish maybe they would move one game there for the younger generation. When growing up I always heard about some state basketball game that was there, it was a last second shot called "Miracle on Vine" or something. Anybody else older hear of that? I've thought about this too. Instead of playing an exhibition game against Doane etc at Devaney/Pinnacle, put it at the Coliseum and make it all general admission. Or play one of the holiday break games there. Bring out the throwbacks if you want. Make it a once a year or every couple year event. It would really generate some novel interest over a game like that. Michigan State did it this year, playing a game in their old coliseum in December I believe.
  8. Positives far outweigh the negatives. Hope Eichorst doesn't let the possibility of a very small number of isolated incidents outweigh the huge impact it could have on attendance and revenue. You serve beer the first year and you are going to get that building off to a great start in terms of attendance and home court advantage. Thanks to the LJS for getting this issue out in front of the public with the front page spread last week, and the editorial this week. This can do nothing but help the cause. Would love nothing more than to have an ice cold beer in my hand when my butt hits my seat for the first game in November.
  9. He's more athletic than Anderson, but not by much. I'd say he's slightly more explosive than Anderson but he's certainly not as quick with his hands or feet. Overall very slight edge to Shavon. McCray could get to the rim and finish - we just didn't see him have the aggression to do it. Toney was also a much better athlete. Obviously we know a lot of Toney's issues were between the ears. Didn't have a high basketball IQ and and didn't have a motor at all. Shields is way ahead of McCray in those two areas. He plays with intensity and fire. If anything I'd say that's where he'd actually compare somewhat to Pierce.
  10. And just wanted to add...I do think Shields will improve his ball handling as well as all other areas of his game under Miles. He will be a lot better in 3 years than he is right now. The reason why I don't see him ever developing into all all-conference level player is simply his physical tool set puts limitations on what he can do out there on the court. If he was 2-3 inches taller I think I'd have a different outlook for him.
  11. I don't really see it. Shields is nowhere near the athlete Pierce is. Pierce has never been a guy who put much work in developing his body and has always looked soft, but I'd say he's an elite-type athlete naturally. Shields is a Ryan Anderson or Brandon Ubel-type athlete. Not very quick, doesn't have much of a vertical, not explosive at all. In terms of ball-handling, that is also not a strong comparison. Right now I'd say Shields is a pretty poor ball handler at his size. Reminds me a bit of Toney McCray in that he just looks a little scary when he dribbles it too much. Pierce was and is an excellent ball handler for a player of his size...again, probably an elite-type ball handler in comparison to Shields. That being said, I like Shields and think he can end up being a decent player (solid starter, but not an all-conference type)...but when it comes to comparing him to Pierce, I don't see it.
