Less scoring per 40, was in there. Less blocks per 40, was in there. Averaged .7 more assists and .9 more rebounds per 40 than he did as a freshman. You're right he is crushing it in the games too. Huge improvement from year 1 to year 2.

I don't like to dog on individual players...but even calling him a role player might be an enormous compliment given how poorly he performed any type of consistent role in games this season. He's got to be crushing it in practice or in the meeting rooms.

I tend to agree with you Norm - I do think they took a beating psychologically as the year went on. Maybe the physical talent is there more than I'm giving credit, but Miles and his staff have never found a way to consistently synchronize/maximize the talent and confidence of his teams and individual players.

Ahh Diaz. There you go. That one paid off, at least for a couple years. Outside of that, pretty rough group. It seems like we have had guys like Ubel, Wilkinson and Tai in recent history, who got to their senior year and you were like "damn...I wish we could've redshirted him instead of burning their freshman year because we had no other options other than to play them."

One has 3 first year players who were major contributors. One has 3 first year players who were essentially non-factors outside of a few games or plays all year. I don't mean to veer off topic, but Dimes posted that Watkins was a redshirt freshman. I can't for the life of me remember a time when we we had the depth/luxury to redshirt a somewhat promising guy who just needed to mature a bit. Anybody remember the last time we had a productive/successful career from a guy who redshirted as a freshman?

Talking nothing about rankings in terms to comparing freshman. PSU has 3 freshman who were extremely productive, more so than all of our sophomores. We had zero freshman who were productive, outside of 2-3 glimpses of hope all year. I think we are falling behind, not catching up or passing these teams in our similar lower tier predicament.

Thank you for posting, Dead Dog Alley. This huge "upgrade in talent" that is going on at Nebraska is only on paper, in terms of more shiny stars. My eyeballs tell me, stars don't matter and we are in the bottom 2-3 teams in talent in this conference. Case in point - across the board, a lot of Big Ten teams have groups of freshman that are outperforming not only our own group of freshman, but also our sophomores. My expectation is that we consistently compete for a top-half finish in the conference and make it to the NCAA every 2 or 3 years and start winning occasionally when we make it. This is not going to happen when we are a bottom 2-3 team in talent.

Calling Jacobson money from 15-18 would be like calling shaq clutch at the free throw line. Jacobson is awful at every shot you can shoot on a basketball court at this point in time.

Maybe it's just me...but once they are enrolled in school and start their careers, the star rankings go out the windows and I put zero value in them. I know everybody gets excited that we got guys who were given X number of stars or ranked X in their senior class but at this point those numbers are essentially meaningless. Obviously if somebody re-ranked players after they started their careers, these rankings for transfers would be extremely different than what you see here. Let them create their new paths as men and not try to tie them to the star ratings they were given as 16-17 year olds.

Not sure if the university cares (or that we should) about one or two holiday break games in the past 15 years when some visiting fans bought the unclaimed student tickets. It's 2017, it's not hard to sit just about anywhere at any event if you are resourceful and/or have the necessary funds to spend. Hell Husker football fans did this for years to Big 8/12 schools, so it's ironic that people act like this is a big deal. If Husker basketball fans gave a shit they would've bought those tickets themselves. You want to sit close instead of them next time? Buy those tickets down low and eat your $5 300-level tickets or give them away. Last entity to blame in this situation is the ticket office. It's not as if Husker fans weren't given the chance to buy them.

Zero blame on him...but not sure what exactly he brings to the table. Seems like almost an honorary- or figure head-type position.

Hopefully he stays. He's obviously not getting drafted this year, so the D-League is going to be his path to the NBA if he wants to go now. Not sure what to make of his tenure at Nebraska if he doesn't come back to finish things out. By all accounts is a great young man, a leader on and off the court. But leaving after one pretty solid season, playing for a (record-wise at least) bad team...just seems like there is some unfinished business here. Both individually and as a member of the program. Will anybody remember him in 5 years if he leaves now? He has an opportunity to really cement his legacy by finishing out his eligibility at Nebraska, potentially being part of something special this year and also taking on his Jayhawks. This type of stuff matters more to the fans than to him, I'm sure. That being said - the D-League isn't going anywhere. Neither is Europe. But this is his last chance to suit up in the Big Ten and become that POY contender and superstar that Nebraska desperately needs. And improve his draft stock at the same time.
