Arizona St. (13-19) vs. Nebraska (17-14) Game Thread

The good news is that we are in the game. Our past several games we were down big at this point. Make a few adjustments, and we should win pulling away. -

Players have to understand, they are left wide open because they know you can't shoot. Figure it out, or if you are going to shoot, then you damn well better hit the shot. -
Per his buddy, he has been contacted by ten power conference teams. But he is satisfied with his compensation, and loves the school.

I've seen that move all tournament long...but it is called against us. Their big drop kicked Sam, yet no call. Dudes, just be flipping consistent. -

They certainly appear to be a perimeter team... -
Connor has also said he is coming back.

Hard to believe... -
There were no redshirts in '55.

I remember when Pike and company were freshmen. That "scout team" gave absolute fits to the starters in practice. Have that team tell stories of some of the battles that took place. I'm not about to compare that group of players to this year's redshirts/scout team; but it is important to point out that they are talented and now they have one year of development under their belts. Hey I understand the hesitation to acknowledge that they may be better than pedestrian role players, so we shall see. And yes, I continue to agree we need to secure some studs via the portal.
-
Have you seen them practice this year? But yes, we need a stud point guard, et al. The lack of talent brought in last season was glaring. When I watch the elite eight games, I ask myself if any of our players would start on those teams. Maybe one player, maybe.

My opinion...the college game has become more physical tha pro games (both men and women). I see it going the same direction in high school games. In my humble opinion, AAU basketball is steering that ship/ trend. It is taken the game away from the art of the game (athleticism) to a rock fight. Just saying...

Follow up question. Will this be on his own villition or will this come at the behest of our staff? I have no clue what he $igned on for or the length of the contract. But I cannot imagine that his $tock has risen.
-
A lot of true freshmen are playing key roles throughout the post-season. I think we should/can expect redshirt freshmen to start and/or play key roles next season.

I am rarely critical of Fred and the staff. That said, I am critical about the recruitment, and more so, use of Braxton. It is easy to pick on Meah; but we knew, or should have known what his skills were. We tried to fit a square peg into a round hole with him. His skills simply did not fit into our schemes and we never, ever adjusted. As we recruit for this coming season, we MUST solicit players who can fit culturally and schemantically. If we don't, then the staff has to adjust much better than this season.

I don't know; but I am betting the wind will be playing a role. -
I visited with Frager's grandma at the BOB scrimmage. They went into the preseason 100% positive he was redshirting. But by the time that scrimmage took place, there was serious discussion of him playing. I'm glad he redshirted...and I'm pretty confident he will be in the rotation.

Read today that Creighton paid $2 million for Freeman. Not sure it is true or not; but if true, wow.
