  1. Hype and hope can be very cool...but perhaps we should see him play a few games, especially against tough competition before we anoint him a lottery pick. There are a lot of studs out there who may have something to prove that may try to shoulder past him. Just saying.
  2. The interception was perhaps the second best thing that could have happened in that instance. Oklahoma would have benefited by simply batting the ball down. My lone issue, really, is our continued special teams ineptitude. Totally and completely unacceptable.
  3. Goodness, he looks bad in that blue, plain awful. Well good for him and good for Creighton. Man that is hard to say. I like his game and he has proven to be a good team player. It will be interesting to see if he becomes more than a "blend" player. I am betting that he continues to expand his game.
  4. I would put Minnesota as a toss up after they lost there stud RB.
  5. There have been so many stories told about the heroic events/actions that took place 20 years ago AS WELL AS the many years that followed. But was is so emotional for me are the thousands of untold stories of those that died then; and those that have subsequently died in the follow up wars and attacks. May they rest in peace.
  6. Come on...many of you are looking at this bass-ackwarwards. Sort of how Husker basketball fans have looked at schedules in the past. It is the other teams looking at their schedules concerned about seeing US on THEIR schedules. That is the new normal. We should be just fine.
  7. I will assume Doc is still a key component to our defensive philosophy and structure. We simply need to watch our P's and Q's so we do not have the glitch the football team allegedly is having.
  8. Sounds as if Fred maybe helped her get the Maverick opportunity??
9. Interesting overview: Do stars matter? Predicting order of finish in the B1G based solely on recruiting rankings Just goes to show that talent matters, but it’s not the only thing that matters. By Connor Lemons@lemons_connor Sep 6, 2021, 12:01pm EDT Share this story Share this on Facebook (opens in new window) Share this on Twitter (opens in new window) SHAREAll sharing options Photo by Zach Bolinger/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images What if recruiting rankings always translated to success on the court? What if the team who pulled in the top recruiting class each season always won the conference without fail? What if nobody ever improved after getting to school, and what if no top recruits ever fell apart/busted? That would be pretty boring, I think. Part of what makes college athletics so fun is the fact that more often than not, recruits do veer away from what the “experts” predicted for them at some point. Two or three-star prospects end up being taken as first-round NBA Draft picks. Five-star recruits who were supposed to take the world by storm crash and burn, and wind up transferring elsewhere, or stop playing altogether. Teams jacked with talent underperform, while the plucky underdogs make a run to the Sweet Sixteen. It happens all the time, and it’s fantastic. But what if everything went according to plan? What if recruiting rankings and “stars” were the only thing that mattered? The age-old question of “do stars mater?” is dumb. Yes, they absolutely matter. Why do Duke and Kentucky continue to perform at the highest level, while Elon and William & Mary do not? The big programs pull in the best recruits... the four and five-star kids. The smaller schools, like Elon and William & Mary, rarely lock up any recruits that are awarded stars at all. So yes, they matter. But how much do they matter? To answer that question and have a bit of fun, I looked up the recruiting rankings/”stars” awarded to every single player in the Big Ten conference. Every. Single. One. I then averaged the number of “stars” each team in the B1G has per player, and ranked the teams from first to last. A few notes on this: Walk-on’s were not included, as they were likely never given stars. Walk-on’s did not pull any team’s average down. If you find a walk-on listed here, let me know so I can remove them. I did my best to research and find out if they walked-on or not. Transfer players count, and their original stars from their first team are included. If a player started at a small school like Elon, for example, they probably had zero stars. Even if they are a great player now at a Big Ten program (following a transfer, assumedly), their original number of stars is used here. If it was not clear if a player was a walk-on or not, I did not include them. All recruiting rankings are taken from 247Sports.com. I prefer them over Rivals and ESPN. Rosters are for the 2021-2022 season Players improve over time, we know this. Part of the reason this list is so fun/surprising is because there are a ton of players listed below who have completely out-played what the “experts” predicted for them in high school. I do not believe this is how the B1G will shake out this season, but if we’re only looking at stars, here’s your final standings! 10. I am in the camp that believes Breindenbach is being vastly underrated, underapprecated and undervalued by our fan base. This dude was highly rated for a reason. He is going to earn substantial playing time this year. The kid knows how to play team ball and knows how to play his role. Just my very humble opinion.
  11. I would say there is a chance...but I get what you are saying. I just recall that he gets in foul trouble at times and then he is less productive down the stretch.
  12. Here is my preseason rotation guess. I like Walker, Kobe and Lat coming off the bench. It will push the initial five and put pressure on the depth of the opposition. Those three are also most likely to be part of the "closing" rotation in close games. Keisei will be a wild card. He will be instant offense; but the number of minutes may be predicated on how he defends. Alonzo Verge Trey McGowens Bryce McGowens Wilcher or Breidenbach Andre If we have 10 rotating Lat Kobe Webster Walker Wilhelm Breidenbach or Wilcher Keisei Tominaga
  13. I am still scratching my head. I am not yet convinced the rotation is close to being finalized. Some players play better when part of group A versus group B. Veterans grouped with newbies?, or not??? I still believe playing time is wide open, as is starting roles.
  14. Mistake after mistake. That, once again, was quite fugly. Bright spots occurred, but man.
  15. See ya in the dance...if you make it
  16. Agree. Given our newest hires and changes in assignments, furthers the speculation that his exit, although mutually beneficial, may have leaned more heavily towards benefiting the Huskers.
  17. Yikes...I still get first game jitters. I guess that is a good thing! Get it done Huskers!
  18. Let's not forget Chris Cresswell and Tom Wald. If I recall correctly, Danny tried to run Chris off and Chris stayed and performed pretty darn well.
  19. Just an idle thought on Keisei. He may not have length or maybe the quickness...or maybe he does. The litmus test will be actual games. That said, we have had some deadeyes that had significant deficiencies in the past that REALLY helped us. Three or four names pop into my head. Does anyone know who I may be thinking of
  20. I was impressed when I heard that it only took three takes to make five in a row
  21. Man, nothing against anyone, but I am genuinely starting to dislike this thread.
  22. Good for Dalano!
  23. This is why I wait for real practices and games. My intent is not to burst bubbles, it is simply to create reality check points; we heard the same thing about Lat last season. In some drill he made an enormously high percentage of 3-pointers. Yet when the season began, he struggled. After 50+ years as a Husker basketball fan, I am waiting for the hype to become reality. Maybe, just maybe, this will be THE year.
