  1. Both are still in play. And we always needed Jordy. That hasn't changed.
  2. So yeah we're all just going to take this article as final word? I don't think so. What else can he say right now? He's still on scholarship with Louisville and he hasn't graduated yet. This isn't the final word on Mathiang. It doesn't end up in the journal star without reason.
  3. This pleases me.Can we get two years out of him and still plays right away if he gets a hardship waiver? Wondered the same thing. Read an article that he broke his foot December 19 of this season and wasn't going to seek a medical hardship waiver. Wonder how those work with grad transfers. Is there a rule where grad transfers can only play 1 season?
  4. Unofficial but heard we have an addition. Anyone also hear?
  5. I think we saw a little of the Ed Morrow tonight we should have seen this year if he wasn't hurt. Ed struggled with injuries this season, more than we were even informed of. He was such a spark on the run to climb back in in the first half. Showed off a couple nice post moves, altered some of their bunnies enough to make the miss so we could grab the board. White????????????????????????????? We know his shoulder is not good but what about his feet? I think it was the Ohio State game but not sure anymore, but noticed he took inserts out of his shoes at one point, then switched shoes altogether. And then tonight, how the heck did he blow out his shoe? It was like the middle plate between the insole and the actual rubber bottom sole just exploded out of his shoe. He had trouble keeping his footing all night. Purdue is just not a good matchup for the team we have right now. We worked so hard just to get a look and on the other end they would just lob it inside and get a quick and effortless flush. Refs and buttholes. Not the reason we lost, we were just overmatched, but why do we get refs that are always such buttholes? They seriously had no clue on about 6 out of bounds calls. You have Teddy TV absolutely getting off on calling back to back travels. And then he hasn't had enough so he just can't help himself in getting in one final PBA call for the year on that wrist graze on their shot with under a minute left. The one possession we get 2 stops and aren't even awarded the ball. First a travel on Tai when he hasn't come down to the floor and established a pivot nor does he even have possession of the ball yet. Then Purdue on their second try knocks it out of bounds and the refs don't see it. So of course the one guesses wrong and gives it to Purdue instead of going to a jump ball. Ok I'm done now.
  6. Wow. Jordy's brother really has it together in terms of the recruitment. He sounds extremely informed about what Nebraska has to offer both on and off the court. After reading Robin's article its sounds like we are in perfect position. Now he just has to say he's N. I'm not really worried about a school like Arizona after his brother's comments about how badly he wants to have an opportunity to play immediately. Now watch him go ride pine at Arizona.
  7. That's a good point. I would still watch the games. However, the more people talk about a 24 second clock, and now maybe quarters, the more, just IMO, it would lessen the college game. I can't really put the right words together to explain why, but this has been my opinion on the topic as well. Yes, yes, and yes. All the 'complaints' about the college game (poor offense, etc) are what make it the college game. In my opinion, only so much can be done to help the flow along before you start going in the opposite direction once again. A 24 second shot clock would be going just a tad too far. Without teams full of players with NBA skill sets and NBA caliber shooters this seems like it would lend to rushed sloppiness. 30 seconds has seemed like a good middle ground of increasing pace while allowing enough time for team offense.
  8. Brilliant. Especially since Mo coaches defense.Yes. I didn't stutter. We need much more emphasis on scoring. We were good on D before Mo arrived. It's clear they struggle on offense still. Offense has improved across the country due to shorter clock and how officials are calling things. But you seem to be blaming a defensive coach for our poor offense. Perhaps recruiting some shooters would better address the situation than firing the defensive coach. We don't have that in this years class, I really like Roby but shooter is probably not how I would describe him right now.....I'm taking the wait and see approach with Gill. I have heard good things and he looked solid in the scrimmage....not sure he's going to be someone that shoots a solid percentage from mid-rage to deep ball. We currently sit at 116 defensive ranking on Kenpom....not close to being good enough. If Molinari is strictly a "defensive coach" he needs to do much better going forward. Like get us back into the top 25 as far as defensive rankings go. Our offense has improved this year. Improved enough that if we had a solid defensive squad I'd put our conference record right now at 10-6, not the 6-10 that it is. So many close games that if we were a great defensive team this year, we get those games.
  9. The Big ten is tough on the road. Every team we play is good at home, yet we haven't done well at home this season. Penn State is 10-3 at home on the year. The only teams to beat Penn State this month are Nebraska and Iowa, but Penn State also handed a loss to each of those teams. They also beat league-leading Indiana. Most saw this game as a great opportunity to grab a win, which it was, we just couldn't finish. My point is though that most saw this as an "easier" game because it was a lower tier team in the current standings. This league ain't easy and this team is young. Gotta learn how to finish these close games. Gotta have the experience to grind when things aren't going well and master damage control to not get down by 18 in the first place. Have to win. Message boards lean to each extreme on a result. Message boards lean to each extreme based on one basket. As much as it sucks to not be able to finish, the progress of the team and its youth is pretty much the same at this point of the season whether it's a 1 point win or a 1 point loss. Us fans but especially the team need to bury these shitty games in the books, tally a chalk mark in the experience column, and have the will to rid these clunkers from the schedule. Guys need to grow mentally. Gain an edge and win some damn games. This league isn't getting any easier. Everyone else is bringing in ball players. A team like Penn State has a ridiculously good class coming in next year. Let's go. Tired of these threads.
  10. Fans should react to what are perceived bad calls. It happens the same way in every arena in the country. You're not going to get a collective mass to sit on their hands and zip their lips when they feel their team hasn't gotten a fair shake. Nebraska fans shouldn't act any differently than anyone else.
  11. Ummmm...Miles has offered plenty of guys who also received offers from the big dogs. From the start he was offering guys who we had no business getting. Problem is, those players initially wouldn't take a serious look at Nebraska. Miles has done very well identifying talent early in the process. Very rarely have I seen our targets' narrowed down list include IUPUI, Drake, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff ala Doc. Early on a targets offer list may include such teams but that is because Miles has offered early before a kids recruitment blows up and big dogs come in. Jordy Tahimanga, our latest big target is choosing between Arizona, Pittsburgh, and Nebraska. That's a far cry from Lipscomb, IUPUI, and Doane.
  12. Wow. Wow. Wow. For as historically bad as we have been, for never winning a tournament game, how are we #57 all-time?
  13. My question is what does NCAA or bust mean? Like bust as in Miles is fired at the end of next season if we don't make the tournament? Seems quite a bit ridiculous even though I also expect (really want) for us to make tourney next year. I'll ask the question I asked a few posts ago again. If we win 18, 19, or 20 games next year but miss the NCAA tournament what good reason do we have to get rid of Miles? Without sounding too apologetic, yes there have been flaws, but if we continue to see progression, get another solid recruiting class, but just miss out on being selected, there is no reason to freak out. And firing Miles next year would be freaking out. Next year will be Miles' first with all of his own recruits. I fully expect to make the tournament next year, it's just what I anticipate happening based on what I've seen with my eyes this year. If more questions arise and year 5 resembles year 3 then by all means the seat is warm. I just have a hard time with NCAA or bust next season. Especially if in busting we show more progression, see promise in the Roby, Horne, plus whoever else class rolling in behind this year's freshman and sign up another good class behind those guys.
  14. Any word on how good Anton has been? What should we be expecting from him next year? Really, really good. Just a couple weeks ago he dropped in 30 in a scrimmage against our main rotation guys. He's more of a slashing guard with speed but has a mid range pull up game plus he can fill it up from 3. I think he'll compliment White perfectly. I would assume Miles would play Watson/Gill/White at 1/2/3. If we can defend with those 3, the upgrade over Watson/Benny/White is incredible. Nothing against Benny, but Gill will be another legit weapon that defenses will have to worry about.
  15. I know this has been beaten to a pulp but it will continue through the offseason. Yes, next year is Miles' 5th. I do believe it's time to see results. But haven't we seen some results already? If you would've told me at the time at hiring that within 4 years we would make the tournament I would have been more than okay with that. Well, that happened. Except it was in year 2. Whether we just got hot or whatever, it still happened. My question to those discounting that is would an improbable tear though the Big 10 tourney this year, winning it all, and making the dance "not count" as a real tournament appearance because we struggled to win in the regular season? So was making the tournament in year 2 just bad timing? Should Miles have taken his time so as to have his team peak in year 3? Year 3 was a disaster and that's all on Miles and the early success and departures after season 3 led to Miles essentially starting over. Way more freshman on the team this year than he anticipated having to bring in. Anyone with eyes can see the direction of the team this year (although losing), the development of those players, and the new crop of players coming in next year has this program going in the right direction. So if next year's team gets say 18, 19, maybe 20 wins and fails to make the NCAA tournament again, is Miles done here? Or is that seen as progress and the feeling is then that the crop of Watson, Morrow, McVeigh, Jacobson would be poised to dance their junior and senior years?
  16. We lost. Now that that's out of the way what were some of the best plays last night? Lots of hustle out there. There's this which I just got a Twitter notification about. Don't know if this has already landed on the board yet but if so its worth a thousand more looks. And then what about Benny skying amongst the trees, pulling down a one handed rebound, and earning 2 free throws?
  17. Ok I've slept on it and I'm still pissed. That was such a hard game. Everything was such a struggle and such a fight. Lots of great hustle plays. But being down a couple guys really hurts in a game like that. A couple extra bodies would've done us good I think. Yes there were a million things we could've done differently to win that game. But my goodness there were some head scratcher calls or no calls. That's the end of my ref complaining. Watson will grow up from a game like like. He had 3 to 4 questionable decisions down the stretch that could've flipped the game. He's only a freshman so a game like last nights will do him good in the long run. Frustrating loss, frustrating season. I think most realists knew it would be a longish year heading in but being so close despite being so young has made it a frustrating one. We are so close to winning bunches or more games. Really have to like our chances for next year but we always say that. Maybe next year will actually be the 'next year' we've always called for though. Seems like it should be.
  18. Well poop That's some 'deep' do-do, isn't it? Hopefully it's nothing too serious. Would be a bummer for him to end his high school career on the pine.
