Big jump after today's win

On the Hammond play they reviewed it and didn't call anything on Cincinnati. Cincy got to shoot their free throws for the foul that was called on Hammond under the basket later on in that same possession. Once the play stopped for that whistle they went back and reviewed the above shoulders contact to Hammond at the top of the key.

Talking about the Hammond ruling for those who saw it. What is the rule now? Is it not automatic flagrant for above the shoulders contact anymore? Did they change that so the refs can use their discretion after reviewing it? The contact wasn't too severe but there was contact from what I could tell. So when the offensive player swings their elbow through like that it depends on how well the elbow connects? That was sort of a big call. If it had been called it would have negated Hammond's foul which occurred later in the possession, taken away their FT opportunity, and given us a FT opportunity. Sorry is this has been mentioned elsewhere, I don't have time to read the entire board tonight.

I think there were indications during the Spain trip that we'd like to (can) get up and down the floor and score it a bit more. Hopefully with improved offensive talent we can get away from some of that stagnant ball and those grind it out games. I think we go back to the way Miles wants to play defense a bit more this year. Certainly keeping some of Coach Mo's principles but a whole lot more trapping to create turnovers. You know, GATA.

I am one who hopes Miles just goes with Watson as starting PG from the get go. Live through the ups and downs of having a freshman point guard and get Benny back to his come off the bench spark plug/stabilizer role. We know what Benny's ceiling is. Watson's is obviously much higher. We've heard that Watson's defense may be lacking some but that's when you bring in Energizer Benny to crank up the defense or to stabilize things if Watson starts turning the ball over. We don't gain anything by starting Benny. Not a knock on Benny, he's earned his, but he's just better off the bench.

Agree. Not saying that daddy is treating in this scenario but he's obviously going to have an opinion no matter who is or is at least going to be more involved in the process than a non-doctor parent would be. I'm also suggesting that the family being medical could be the reason why info release is being treated differently. Not necessarily because there is a difference in opinion or anything but simply because of his family's medical background and their wishes.

Dr. William Jacobson is an orthopedic surgeon focusing in sports medicine. He is also Michael's father. This would be his other opinion when it comes to any ailments. I'm sure the team doctors get first crack but I'm guessing his father also has a say. This could also be the reason why his family is choosing to handle to release of his medical information differently.

He would've been a 5th year senior. He has his degree and will be getting paid to play basketball this year. He made the best decision IMO for himself. He wouldnt have raised his stock enough to overcome another year of getting older. It doesn't matter at this point, but I also agree with Kamdy. With degree already completed, the only reasonable choice was to go make money playing basketball at whatever level Petteway landed (will land) at. Staying in school he obviously makes no money playing and could've only hurt his NBA chances. Yes he could've had a comeback year and 'proven himself' or whatever, but all that does is risk injury while becoming a year older. He now gets to 'prove himself' this year while making money doing it against pro competition.

I don't think we can conclude that Petteway won't make the team just because he was a DNP last night. The Hawks still have 18 guys right now. Last night, 10 saw the floor and 8 were DNPs. So, other players who were DNPs are already going to be on the Hawks final roster. At this point in the preseason, teams are working on what their actual game rotations are going to be. I wouldn't read into it as TP definitely not making the squad. I don't think NBA GMs are going to base roster decisions off of little 2 minute of less chunks of time in preseason games anyway. It's not like they're going to use that as their tryout. With Petteway being with the team over the summer, they've seen what they wanted to see. Workouts, practice, attitude, work ethic, summer league game performances, etc. The Hawks probably already know what they want to do. Petteway may not make the team, but I don't think it can be assumed just based on the fact that he was a DNP (along with every other fringe guy trying to maken the last roster spot) last night.

I'm not really in the know for how this works either but maybe both Petteway and Patterson not playing means the Hawks are decided on how they will proceed with those two and are giving themselves a chance to evaluate everything else that they have.

Patterson didn't get any minutes in their last game either FWIW

Super easy to sell with PBA being integrated with stubhub. Just scan your ticket with your phone, set your price, and wait for your money to show up. All without paper, wires, or the hassle of needing to meet someone face to face for an exchange. I also had the same problem as others trying to get rid of Devaney tickets. I would walk up the ramp, often times right to the short line of people purchasing tickets, and still couldn't even hand people free tickets.

I guess Miles didn't get his wish for the outcomes of the games.
