  1. Robin said dont be surprised if Nebraska over-signed if all 3 wanted N. Yeah... At that time it would be a situation where hey... we are going to have to take you off of scholarship, but you can still stay here as a walk on. In which case you would see someone transfer I think. Benny or Vooch would have an unexpected coaches meeting. My best guess would be Vooch... Probably would not trade a post for a guard, and Benny showed the most upside this year. But at this point we need to get all three to say they are N first. Not sure I'd say Benny showed the most upside this year. I think he showed he was the most ready to contribute this year. Vucevic may never develop but I do think his upside is above Benny's. Mostly because Benny's ceiling is pretty low (pun intended) Yup.
  2. Ouch. Not even good enough to keep the Iowa job...
  3. Well poop so Nevada's guys are all fam too...Well, if you look closely, Evans refers to Atewe as fam but Atewe never calls Evans "fam" in any of his tweets back. Nebraska lock. Whew! I missed that. Thank God. We're still good. He better not be going around calling the other guys fam... LOL. It's hilarious that we're trying to decipher anything we can out of a tweet from a two-star recruit!
  4. From Rosenthal's LJS story... Said Michigan coach John Beilein of Tummala at the time: “He may be our most athletic player. Aside from maybe Trey Burke (this year’s Big Ten player of the year), he’s one of our quickest players.”
  5. Fingers crossed. It'd be nice to have an athlete patrolling the paint and running the floor.
  6. I don't think we necessarily have to be close to contending to attract players like that. Just playing in the Big Ten and having playing time available would be more than enough to attract such a player (often from smaller schools). Now whether there is a decent graduate senior available is a completely different story... The way I interpreted Dimes comment was not that we, as Nebraska, can't attract them but that we're not yet ready to look that direction because we still have offers in play to legit recruits. I think what Dimes is asking is at what point in time do you start to look the direction of a graduate transfer? I think the answer is that if you reach a point where you don't have a legit recruit on whom you want to spend 2-4 years of tying up a scholarship and you still have a spot available as well as a need, then you look at the graduate transfer route. That's just my guess. If a good enough graduate kid reaches out your direction, though, I suppose you might stop looking at other options. If the kids you're presently looking at seem to be reaches, then talking to that graduate transfer could be very appealling. Yeah, that's my bad. I read his post way too fast.
  7. What drops the Minnesota job in a lot of people's eyes is the facilities. It shows a lack of commitment to the program. Fix the facilities and get the right coach and the program could very well be a solid top-half Big Ten team.
  8. Guys with actual insider information don't need to throw insults....they just wait for what they stated to actually happen. If you want instant credibility after six posts, you're going to need to do a lot better. Besides, it's a message board. How many times have crackpots came out of the woodwork to post about their "inside information." Not calling 2Buck a crackpot, but you know what I mean. It takes time to build a little trust.

  10. Could mean 1 of 2 things. Not a good sign with Atewe or possibly Sai... OR Someone has decided to transfer, and we had a scholarship open up. OR possibly we decdided to pull Menkes Scholarship. Weren't we already counting Menke's scholly as open?
  11. That's my feeling as well...
  12. I could see the argument with 3 to 4 years though, if WHEN Tim has the success here that we know he will, he will still be sought from bigger and better. Now last year, I am not so sure that Minny would of pulled the trigger on Miles. I think Minny would of looked for Shaka and some bigger and better before Miles. Miles would of been a hotter get this year than last, so I am not so sure he would of ended up at Minnesota last year had they fired Tubbby. Wanna bet. I'm friends with his sister.lolI see why the same 6 people post here with very little insight into what's actually happening in the program. That's a little harsh. I would love for more people to post here and to offer their insight. It's an exciting time for the program and the more information and differing perspectives in here the better. Just play nice.
  13. Umm, they won the national title last year... Doesn't make what he said any less true. You don't win a national title and dominate the way they did last year as freshmen if they were all playing for themselves. Anthony Davis and MKG were far from selfish players. In fact, MKG might have been one of the best leaders in college basketball last year. Bottom line: The comment, at least when directed at last year's Kentucky squad, is completely off base. They were a perfect combination talent, production, drive. How often will that happen though? When you get a bunch of guys who are caught up with looking good for the NBA (which means getting a lot of scoring opportunities), only planning to be there one year and are likely taking a lot of money under the table, you have a recipe that isn't conducive to having a great team culture. Guys are just focused on the wrong things and don't have time to mature. We'll see how things shake out for Kentucky in future seasons. I just believe it will be hard to have sustained greatness when so many of the players aren't emotionally invested in being there long term. I may just underestimate the extent to which top talent can overcome these types of things though.. I agree for the most part, but it simply wasn't the case for Kentucky last year. That's all I'm saying.

In fact, MKG might have been one of the best leaders in college basketball last year. Bottom line: The comment of being "a bunch of mercenaries playing for themselves with no concept of team," at least when directed at last year's Kentucky squad, is completely off base. They were a perfect combination talent, production, drive.
  15. Hopefully we can land one of these talented Minnesota kids. It'd be nice to have a legit pipeline in a talent-rich area like the Twin-Cities.

  17. Really well said. People who are saying this is a bad move because Greg McDermott failed at Iowa State are being shortsighted. It's not about McDermott, it's about the raising the program's profile. No doubt this does it. Great move by Creighton.
  18. Thanks. I think I ask this question every few weeks.
  19. When is the next signing period?
  20. Well said.
  21. Only if you want to create the argument you want to hear the other party making. I never said anything about how his scholarship opened up. I think Benny should be allowed to stay before cutting him. That doesn't mean that I don't think we can't find a better player or fill a bigger need with an open spot in the 2014 class. For the record, I don't like to see coaches push out players they recruited. It's not good business, although Crean has been doing this at Indiana and many other top programs do this. I was looking at it more through the lens that Parker might see the writing on the wall with all the guards we're recruiting and bringing in. I think it's more likely he stays through next season and then explores his options. In an earlier post, I put his leaving at 50-50, but that's a lot higher than it should be. It's more like 85-15 he stays. Vooch, though, I would think is 50-50.
  22. You would be shocked if Vooch left? The guy hardly played in a season where we desperately needed bodies. I'd prefer he stays because he's a big, and we need that. Guys like Parker, in my opinion, are a dime a dozen. I'm by no means pushing him out, but I wouldn't mind seeing him leave so we can use that scholarship on a player with much more potential. Just my opinion...
  23. If you can't replace Parker...than Miles isn't who we think he is. I'm not too worried about filling the void that Parker's absence would cause. But that doesn't make it wise to just kick him out the door. We're not the L.A. Lakers or even the Kentucky Wildcats. I realize it probably has happened and will happen again, but that doesn't mean it should. If Parker decides to move on, so be it, but i'm not in favor of moving a capable player out just because you can. I don't think he's "capable" at this point, but that's not to say he can't be in the future.
