  1. It's been known for at least 2 weeks that AZ st offered him. Not sure why this article changes anything. This is simply just a negative article by an Omaha sports writer. I assume Lee means the offer became "committable." Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
  2. Looks like Arizona State has offered Sai. I assume it's only a matter of time before he's a Sun Devil. http://sports.omaha.com/2013/04/23/new-suitor-for-husker-prospect/#.UXcY9qI3uSo
  3. Wow. He gets his shot off with a quickness.
  4. Question: I'm a grad who sorta kept tabs on Nebrasketball, but jumped headfirst into the Huskers once they (we?) joined the Big Ten. Does that make a fair weather fan? Or did I jump on the bandwagon at the right time?
  5. That talk about Tummala not having a committable offer makes sense to me. When you see stories about his final list, they include Nebraska, BYU, Georgia and Santa Clara. Perhaps he's not interested in waiting around for a legit offer. Now if Arizona State comes through with an offer soon, maybe that all changes. As it stands, Georgia was his final visit (if memory serves), so that means we got the final shot among teams that have solid offers. If we were the team to beat, I think that means he's committing in the next few days. Fingers crossed.
  6. Can you link please? Found this: http://dogbytesonline.com/georgia-adds-junior-college-forward-to-recruiting-class-70923/ Cameron Forte is a 6-7, 210-pounder who is apparently a SF/PF tweener. He's from Tempe apparently. Small world. A friend of Sai's? This is may be the most important nugget from the link: Forte would fill the last remaining scholarship available in this class.
  7. Being that it's an unofficial, I think that pretty much tells us he isn't a legit target with our scholarship. Or maybe that's just my hope...
  8. Whoa. Would be nice to get a big man of this caliber. GATA, coach!
  9. Seems like a good hire to me. Coached in New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington and is a Rutgers alum. His Princeton-style offense will be a pain in the butt to defend.
  10. I can sometimes get caught up in "shiny new toys," but I'm happy that Vucetic is supposedly coming back and Miles remains high on him. I think back to when we got him, and we were all pretty excited. We also knew he was a project, so we shouldn't be surprised that he failed to make an impact as a freshman. Now why he didn't get at least scraps of playing time is up to debate...
  11. Was Johnson Sai's lead recruiter?
  12. I wish Sai would just make his visit now so we can get this over with. Tom Petty was right. The waiting is the hardest part...
  13. From the Salt Lake paper... SLCC coach Todd Phillips told me Thursday afternoon that Tummala has not decided on a school yet, but that BYU is still in the mix. Phillips said Tummala will take another week or two to make the decision and has until the signing period ends in mid-May to make his choice. Tummala had about 15 offers at the end of SLCC's regular season, and narrowed his choices to BYU, Santa Clara, Nebraska and Georgia. The excellent student who wants to go to medical school visited Ivy League schools Penn and Brown earlier in the season, but has decided he wants to play for a higher-profile program. However, Tummala played well at nationals in Kansas, and his recruitment "has kinda blown up" since then, Phillips said. His hometown school, Arizona State, has jumped into the picture with an offer, as has Minnesota under new coach Richard Pitino. He recently visited Nebraska, which has turned up its interest, and will visit Georgia in the next week or so. Phillips said BYU was probably the frontrunner a month ago, but things have obviously changed.
  14. Unfortunately, they'll still be much more talented.
  15. I guess what it comes down to is what exactly did Miles mean when talking about jucos and foreign players being high risk. Did he mean academically or projecting them at the D-I level? I assumed he meant a combination of projection/academics.
  16. I'm not sure it took a lot of acumen to spot this kid. He had offers from a whole bunch of schools before ever starting HS. He was hardly an under the radar kid. True. I mean when Greg McDermott offers you this early it must be a no-brainer (since he didn't think his son was even good enough for Iowa State).
  17. My memory could be off, but I don't remember Miles being down on foreign players (isn't that a major reason he brought Harriman aboard?). I do recall him saying that Juco players are like peach Schnapps: Enjoy in moderation.
  18. I like those measurements a lot better. I think I'd prefer to grab both Sai and Herbert and let Vucetic walk.
  19. From College Basketball Talk... Hunter Mickelson was a top 100 recruit coming out of high school, but after spending two seasons struggling to find consistent minutes in Mike Anderson’s 40 Minutes of Hell system, the 6-foot-10 sophomore will be transferring out of Arkansas. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette first reported the news. Mickelson averaged 5.5 points and 3.5 boards this season for the Hogs, but he’s just not the right fit for their system. He is talented, however, and should be a nice addition for any program that can pick him up. Mickelson was part of a five-man recruiting class in 2011 that was supposed to change the direction of the Arkansas program. But Devonta Abron transferred to TCU, Aaron Ross never made it onto campus and now plays at Texas Tech and BJ Young entered this year’s NBA Draft. The only player remaining from that class is Rashad Madden.
  20. That's kinda what I was thinking...
  21. I'm not sure this a good sign for Matt Painter. Agree, was never good when it happened to Doc. It's not like any good players are leaving, so maybe he's just cleaning house.
  22. Was wondering the same thing...
  23. Here's his game-by-game stats this season... http://basketball.eurobasket.com/player/Mikael_Herbert/UU-Korihait_Uusikaupunki/182702
  24. The most interesting nugget in this story was that we're trying to set up a visit with 6-9, 180-pound power forward Makael Herbert of Finland. Here's a link to his game-by-game: http://basketball.eurobasket.com/player/Mikael_Herbert/UU-Korihait_Uusikaupunki/182702
  25. Rivers is pretty athletic. The only info I really have on Sai's athleticism is what the Michigan coach said about him while he was still there and that was that Sai was the most athletic player on the team with the possible exception of Trey Burke. My guess is that Sai is stronger just because he has Rivers by probably 10-20 pounds. (I don't think Rivers is still 190# but Sai will probably be playing at better than 215# next year as well.) Sai's biggest advantage over Rivers is his shooting ability. Rivers is hit and miss, especially from deep. Sai would have been one of the better shooters on our team any of the last dozen years or so, but particularly last year. I haven't seen a lot of video with Sai dribbling but I have seen a lot of him shooting, both inside and out, and he has moves that David Rivers simply doesn't offer. I've mentioned this before, but I would take juco stats with a big grain of salt. Obviously his percentages say he is able to knock down open 3-pointers, but those open looks come a lot less often in the B1G than the juco level.
