  1. Exactly. I think he was 17 at the time.
  2. It's about time Vooch got in. This thing's been over for a while now...
  3. He just isn't doing ANYTHING on the court. I guess he's reaching in, so there's that...
  4. I see him being a rock-solid B1G player over the next four years with a reasonable chance to be better than that. I think we can all agree that he has been better than advertised, especially when you consider his elbow injury. We will see how he responds with extra defensive attention.
  5. I think it's safe to say we got a steal in Shields. What a great under-the-radar recruit by Doc. Sure he had a tie to Lincoln, but he that doesn't mean he has to recruit him. I'll give him credit for that.
  6. Seriously, why in the world would you force the ball to Andre there anyway?
  7. Freaking lazy passes. Jeez.
  8. Ugh, that 3-pointer makes me feel sick.
  9. Did anyone else notice who mostly "covered" Benny while he was on the floor last night... Didn't get to see the game at all, but I'm going to guess either the free-throw line or the 3-point line defended Parker since I doubt Purdue would waste a player on him.
  10. Thanks for taking the time to post such an in-depth look at the roster, but I have to disagree about Rivers. He is gonna be a valuable member of next year's team. They have nothing in the front court returning with any real experience. And I don't think Nebraska has to have "next level" talent. Wisconsin has been pretty darn good over the years and haven't exactly churned out a lot of NBA players.
  11. Maybe he can come in and play 10 minutes a game as a freshman, but I wouldn't expect him to be a "major" contributor right out of the gate. Hopefully he can give us some good minutes as a defensive player/rebounder.
  12. I hope people clicked on Alex Kline's name. That's a pretty incredible story. And it sounds like he knows what he's talking about.
  13. I think we can all agree on this, but I wanted to make a separate thread just to say how much I appreciate how hard this team is competing and the foundation that Miles and his staff are laying. As fans, we can all wash our hands of the season and point to the future, but I don't think Miles or his staff are doing that. By all intents and purposes we are playing with a 6-man rotation and they've absolutely battled three of the best teams in the Big Ten. It would be really easy for this team to throw in the towel and accept defeat, but they keep playing hard and hanging around in games they shouldn't (or at least games Vegas thinks they shouldn't). I would love a win or two, but the realist in me says this might be as good as it gets this season. Regardless, I think this is a team we can all be proud of.
  14. Been saying that for a while now. I think his upside is of a backup Big Ten point guard, but I think he ends up looking around for a better opportunity for playing time after next season. I hate to write off a kid so quickly, but I just haven't seen many positives out of his game this season. If we want to climb the ladder in the Big Ten, we have to improve tenfold at the point guard position.
  15. I don't think there's a whole lot to the Vucetic story. He's just not good enough, and today's game was winnable. He would have gotten murdered by those Michigan State bigs. Ideally, he would be playing more, but I think Miles is trying his darnedest to win a game and doesn't believe he can with Vucetic.
  16. I've always hated courts that didn't have paint in, well, the paint. Kinda boring. I like the border around the court, though.
  17. Since Matthew seems intent on taking his last two visits and appears to be waiting to see what additional interest might materialize, it seems preferable for the Huskers that such interest comes from the likes of Cal (who lost this year to Wisconsin 81-56) than from eastern powers like UConn and Georgetown. We better hope academics and weather aren't as important, too.
  18. This might seem silly to some, but a number of big-time recruits only consider schools based on whether they are Nike or Adidas. A lot of that stems from what their AAU team wore and the relationship that was built. Of course, the super blue chip recruits get under the table deals that grant them X amount of dollars once they turn pro. It's a seedy business.
  19. Shields needs to finish better.
  20. When's the next signing period? It can't get here soon enough!
  21. You think he could play for them?
  22. I agree 100% Silverbacked! I'm just specualting that those two players may make the decision themselves because they see diminished playing time. I hope it doesn't happen but it does happen on a regular basis in D1 ball. Most guys dont expect to lose playing time to freshmen when they've been getting a lot of minutes and experience and the freshman coming in isnt exactly earth shattering in expecting them to start and be a star from day one. I can't foresee Rivers leaving after this season. Playing time will be there for him because of a lack of size on this team. As for Parker, he'll be back next year, but I could see him leave after his sophomore season.
  23. I dislike it too, but it appears this is here to stay. I absolutely hate the thought that a potential recruit will come to our board to see what we're saying and he won't find a thing.
  24. Pitchford, Webster and Shields for me. Pitchford because we're gonna need a lot of minutes/production from him. Webster: As Norm said, it's mostly out of hope. Shields: Because I think he's gonna be awfully solid in all facets.
  25. As down as I am on Parker, I'm high on Shields. I think he's gonna be a darned good player for us for the next four years. I don't think he'll be a guy who excels at any one thing, but he'll be really good at a lot of things. He just seems to understand the game.
