Reason # 2354 why I don't like to watch the NBA
Silverbacked1 replied to Silverbacked1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
That is why the time it would be played in would make a huge difference. If they called it like the 70's or 80's today guys would foul out too quickly and then it would be starters vs backups and the old guys win. Plus the younger guys wouldn't come out of the locker room if they gad to wear the shorts they wore back then. BUT if it called like it is now, I think the younger guys might win. It is hard to adjust to the way the game is called if you have never played any games that way. p.s. this is one of the best and fun discussion we have had on here in a long time, maybe ever. -

I will add this little bit to it. How about the coaches in 7 games? Pat Riley or Phil Jackson vs Erik Spoelstra, that might be the biggest difference in the whole thing. What would Phil be saying in the press to get the games called like he would like? And how would he be gettin ginto Le Bron's head right now? That might have been the best part of these games. -

I imagine there is a little party breaking out at the Mayweather Mansion! My one son says that Mayweather has a guy in his entourage that carries a brief case with $1,000,000 in cash in it. Don't know if that is true but that is what he has heard. -

And the Worm would have gotten Birdman tossed for the whole 7 games. He thinks Pycho-T is dirty? Worm would have had Birdman doing more than just pushing after about the first 2 steps after the first rebound he would have taken away from him. -

No but he would have baited the King into punching him once to cost him a game. -

Which rules are we playing by? Today's or the 90"s. That is where I think it would be the most telling when you talk about different areas of sports. Could you see LeBron have to defend Dr.J or Magic with out grabbing or pushing them way off the ball. I'm not saying that there was no contact "back in the day" but a lot less. Also if your talking the Bulls, who guards the Bulls centers from the Heat?. They are having trouble with Hibbert. And I would say that either Cartwright or Wennington are better centers than Hibbert is. How about how does the Heat stop Magic, Kareem, Worthy and then others? I don't see the Heat winning more than one game. But like I said I'm not much of an NBA fan as of about the last 20 years or so. So I could be waaaaay off. -
That's going to be me next year at the PBA. Third deck, watch for me.

Come out of the losers bracket

Well that was fun. Wished we were still playing today. Future looks really good though. -

Hopefully the WC qualifiers won't be as brutal as the friendly they just played vs. Belgium! Yeah not to sure the Jurgen Klinsmann project is working out too well. It might also have something to do with not having Landycakes on the pitch. A bunch of our better players are no were to be seen. Must be some kinds of rifs going on. -

My love of soccer is kind of like peoples love of the NBA. I get people who tell me I'm crazy for liking soccer, but I am hooked. I don't argue with people because I know that they aren't going to change. I do ask them to watch a couple of games with me and I try to show them the beauty of the game and most then see it. I think the same would happen for me if somebody who really "gets" the NBA would show me the beauty of the game I might come around. Heck I talked 5 of my friends into going with me to Kansas City in October for the USA vs Jamaica for the World Cup qualifier. -
Okay my son is watching the NBA game and I now know another reason I don't like to watch this. Mouth pieces. If I want to see some thing slimy sticking out of somebody's mouth and being chewed on, I will go to one of those websites that my wife says I can't go to. Keep the damn thing in where it will help or don't wear it.

He does have a year to grow and maybe get better right? I always get mixed up when we start putting the year in front of their names. I know it is easy to figure out and remember, but remember who is writing this.

Women played good enough to win but one bad play and we will need to come out of the losers bracket. I think we are in the "easier" bracket, because I wasn't overly impressed with Washington. It is tough being a Husker fan sometimes. We get there but we sometimes don't quiet get over the hump.

I won't give up hope until about 12:30 today. But at least we have the softball team to watch and cheer on.

Cool, think it would be more like a dad or uncle. It was a couple of years back. Think it was about the time that Wes Welker was there. -

Wasn't there a Wacker that played for Texas Tech? I think it was football. -
