  1. Okay thank you for clearing that up. Guess I'm just too nice a guy to be asking guys that I brought in to leave. Seems like I would be the one to do something because I thought he was good enough to play for me. Kind of like OOps guess I was wrong, time for you to leave because I couldn't see that you would fit in. Maybe I need to look closer at my recruiting then.
  2. Isn't that cutting him? If you take his scholarship away are you asking him to leave or be a walk on? Just want to know because to me using his scholarship for somebody else would mean he has to leave.
  3. Okay just wanted to be clear. Thanks for helping me understand.
  4. If I understand you right, both of you are saying that leaving a scholarship open is better than having Benny on the team? If I do understand you correctly, then that is just cold blooded in my opinion.
  5. When did Benny leave? That's what it is starting to sound like the kid has already backed his bags. Let it play out guys. If he stays some of us will will good and others won't, the same if he leaves.
  6. I'm sure you guys know this but just because a guy has taken all of his official visits, that doesn't mean he couldn't take visits on his own dime if he wanted to. Oh great that comment just put this thread over the 50 page mark.
  7. Thanks for running this for us ASCHusker. Good job there HB.
  8. Right but the majority of players sign in November so Nebraska can only sign 3 players this fall due to the oversigning rule of the B1G and hope that one player leaves. Now if one left this year you could sign 3 with a 4th possible to oversign. Sorry, I just don't think we're in a place where we can just let capable players go because we might, maybe, perhaps get a better player in here. But don't you go into your class a little differently knowing how many spots will be open or not. Not really. I trust Miles knows what he's going and will do what's best for the program and has his pulse on what will or won't be available to work with. The incoming freshman will more than likely experience growing pains next season as most do, but hopefully the transition will be less arduous for them as it appeared to be for Parker. I'm hoping all three are able to contribute closer to the level that Shields did this year. I like Benny, but have a hard time finding minutes for him if the new guys are as good as we hope they are. Maybe. I think Fuller or Hawkins could redshirt, but I don't think you can assume that they'll have easy transitions. The best teams have freshmen that are impact freshmen, but the vast majority of frosh don't become major contributors the moment they step on campus. Shields was the exception, not the rule. I don't care how highly touted the freshman is. What if one or more of them (or someone else) gets hurt or just flat struggles. Then we go from being nine or ten deep to being back to seven. You're going to want a guy who's been through it before. We played with 6 this year...so don't think it's a given there are minutes there for him if he doesn't make us better. Webster, Fuller and Hawkins will likely struggle at times next year...of course all 3 are all likely to be better players than Parker and with a deeper team won't be as obvious. And for the record...I don't think it was the transititioning to the Big 10 level that is behind Parker's struggles. It's size, talent and ability. He's got talent, I absolutely believe that. We're making dangerous assumptions if we think Webster, Fuller and Hawkins will walk on campus and automatically be better than anyone currently on the roster. We might think that, but we don't know that. We've seen several guys in this program make progress every year and become quality players by the time they were done. I have a hard time believing we're in a place where we can just be cutting bait with capable players, which Benny is. His height will always be something he fights against, no doubt, but that doesn't mean he can't contribute to this program. If what Haymarket Husker says is true, this whole conversation is academic. Totally agree, That is what I have been thinking and trying to say. Thanks for putting it together for me.
  9. Aren't both Rex and Sir Charles NBA guys? To me that tells me a lot.
  10. Ray single-handedly kept a team in games that probably would have been the first squad Husker squad to ever lose 20 games without him. Dude played 5-10 minutes more per game that he should have because he had to. Yes, Ray took a lot of low percentage shots....because a lot of time that team needed him to do so even when teams keyed on him. How was it that he was always taking "bad shots" yet Miles never took him out? How is the guy who is ruining the team playing the most minutes in Huskers history? I've argued with both Bogus and Gaskins on their REPEATED bashings of RG on twitter before as well. I guess that makes Gallegos the Dark Knight. Thanks for sticking up for RG, dimes. We all need to back "our" players.
  11. Seems like he would fit in well with what we are doing. Nice stroke from the outside.
  12. I was just going to say that we have Benny for 3 more years and Peltz for one. I think what we need to remember that every player has a role on the team, and Miles will get the guys into their roles soon enough. It's up to the players to except those roles or to find a place where they think they can play a role that they want. I truly feel that Benny has a part to play and is willing to play that part.
  13. I think that the offense will look different next year, which might allow Benny to contribute more with him driving and dishing. Different players different scheme, different style of game. Guess we could make this a 35 page with the three of us saying the same thing over and over but...
  14. Big Priest, That's funny right there, no matter who you are. :D :D :D
  15. I think some things will need to fall into place in the off season so players can find out how things are going to be played next year. If we must go small and run then Benny becomes more of a plus, and Vooch maybe not. However if we get the one or two bigs, then Vooch is a plus and Benny kind of looses his minutes. I personal saw two things with Benny that make me say he will and needs to stay. 1) He did look his best when we ran, he might not always made the shot but he did help the others get up the court and did make some nice dishes for buckets. 2) He might not be the best ball handler but does seem to be an above average passer. I remember seeing him make some very nice and difficult passes this year. Now if we go to what everybody things we will where we drive and kick to the open shooter, Benny remains valuable because I think with another year of maturity he will be good at this. Will he ever be a starter, most likely not. But I can't think that Miles went down to Kansas City to talk him to staying with us, just to say "see ya" at the end of the season. Also agree that it shows what kind of kid he might be if he stays and says everybody else beat me out. I also don't see Miles having so many players "wanting to play closer to home" like Doc seemed to. Just my thoughts on the subject.
  16. 9r throwing the resume in the ring at Northwestern?
  17. Dave if you didn't do the report cards it would be like a peanut butter jelly sandwich without the peanut butter. Still good but not great. Keep doing them
  18. Some guys come through here and I get tears in my eyes when they leave. Brandon was one of them. Wish he was here one more year.
  19. As of last night I could find like UCLA, Cinny and the ones who had cammo uniforms. Will need to keep looking.
  20. and they did lose to us on the road after having a 19 point lead. I think that might be one of the things that will go against them.
  21. uhmm... hate to tell you but Air Bub is no longer with us.
  22. The beginning of the year I said that we were playing in the NIT so for that to come true... Nu-61 Osu-58 and then it is on to...?
  23. Even Dockery(?) the color guy was saying that the Purdue players weren't talking to each other to set up the last play. Think that was a good idea to sit on the time outs. It all worked out. We lose and maybe we think different.
  24. Oh I'm so sorry, Will keep all of you in my prayers.
