  1. For those who are in the mood for more nerd-friendly references, when one is stuck in the transfer portal, he may run into Lazarus while he is there (see Kirk, James Tiberius). It would still be better than getting caught in Heisenberg's Box though.
  2. Ahh, I remember it well. We drove all night to get there, stayed at the same hotel as Duke, and got crappy seats next to the roof of the old Metrodome. Got to see Shaque play (ineffectively) for LSU, rode the elevator with Billy McCafferty, Bobby Hurley, and Mike Krzyzewski, and my grade school daughter got to dance at a Duke pep rally with the Blue Devil mascot. And one of my son's got the autograph of Alan Ogg, a 7'2" backup center with the Miami Heat who also were staying at the hotel. Those were the highlights. The game was obviously a bust. All I recall is we couldn't make free throws (sound familiar), Beau stunk, and Rich King hit a three pointer near the end of the game to make it close. We didn't stay for the next day's games and didn't realize then that it would represent the apex of NU basketball success in the tourney. Hopefully I will live long enough to see us achieve something better.
  3. Looks like the Ivy League was the only one stupid enough to cancel their season because of "COVID" fear. I suppose it was to allow their basketball athletes more time to study , n'est pas?
  4. By his own reasoning he should also include Lincoln on his list of top-basketball-programs-in-the- country.
  5. Bret Porter enters the transfer portal. There will be more.
  6. This year was an aberration in more ways than sports, so I'm simply putting it behind me and ready to move on. I am strangely optimistic about our team despite the horrible results and grateful to the coaches and players for persevering and giving me something to watch rather than political punditry, riots, and dismal pandemic reports. Perhaps I was cushioned by "waiting-until-next -year" by the Red Sox between 1953 and 2004 to win a World Series. I think Hoiberg is going to break the NCAA barrier for NU sooner rather than later and thank everyone involved in the effort this year (including HHC) for the pleasant moments provided during the year. Nebraska's basketball fortunes are bound to rise in the near future.
  7. Who would want to go from a Pinnacle to a Pit??
  8. Sounds more like MASS hysteria.
  9. Apocalypse Now - Smell of Napalm HD - Bing video
  10. Would Steve Rushin be close enough?
  11. And he will be our first Japanese player. I remember being skeptical about Ichiro living up to his hype when he joined the Mariners (too small and frail) and he seemed to work out pretty well.
  12. First they need a new arena. "Hilton Magic" is definitely not working any more.
  13. Sort of a half-ass response which will do nothing to improve team rapport with the coach or discourage negative recruiting. To me it sends the message that he said something really bad, but not that bad.
  14. Thanks, guys. That means I am one ahead of him. Go, Matt.
  15. I'm sure there is someplace I could look this up, but how many times has KenPom actually won?
  16. Hey, this is our Super Bowl so why not : NU 76 Nitwit Lions 71, 1 game
  17. Burno, a name which shall live in infamy at HHC. And speaking of other names from the past... David Anwar - Assistant Coach - Men's Basketball Coaches - New Mexico State University Athletics (nmstatesports.com)
  18. Nothing like a drubbing to whet the appetite for the next game. Huskers 70, Northwestern 67, 4 players
  19. Hey, at least we get to utter the magic words now. I think most will agree that last night we reached ROCK BOTTOM. Yet somehow I think we might squeeze out another victory this year.
  20. Not being an NU graduate, I'm not seeking any schadenfreude from the situation but I sense the sharks beginning to circle here. The only mitigating factor may be that Creighton is a private institution. I think it would be much more difficult to retain the coach of a public-funded institution who would make such a bone-headed comment in today's society.
  21. I think someone has already posted their photos in another thread.
  22. I would guess that Greg will soon join Chris Harrison and Dr. Seuss on the rubbish heap of history which already holds any Southern Civil War general, Chris Columbus, Washington and Lincoln...etc. His mistake was making a thoughtless comment of this sort in this Cancel Culture age. Eventually he will be back coaching somewhere else. Meanwhile all of the trolls can lean back on their basement couches and pat themselves on their backs for another job well done. I wonder who ratted him out?
  23. I understand Danny Manning is looking for a house in Ames.
  24. Just keep wearing that hat, Handy. Iowa 70 NU 64, 4 players
