  1. I have no inside news and can find nothing this morning, but Gary's injury looked like a typical Achilles tear. I doubt he will be back and we should hear the definitive diagnosis this morning. I hope I am wrong.
  2. Don't feel bad. They also rejected Danny Nee when he left here.
  3. Don't worry. It's just the stark weather we are experiencing.
  4. It looked like we had never practiced against a zone, once we scraped back to 50-50 after the abysmal start. Allick and Rice had good games, Mast and Tominaga were so-so and the rest were subpar. We should beat Iowa if we play them again. Let's turn the page and beat Rutgers. That's all I have.
  5. NU 75, UI 71 (Go with the flow to maintain the glow)
  6. One and 1/2. I listened to the radio game in '82 and wasn't in Lincoln for the earlier game. But I was right behind the basket on January 27, 1979 for the biggest upset at that time at the new BDSC when Bobby Moore beat KU in overtime on a half court shot. (so I have that going for me).
  7. Over/under for broken hips tonight=2, goes up to 4 if the Shim-shams perform.
  8. I just realized that the Chief's game on Saturday will also be on Peacock. If I happen to see a wild peacock running loose tomorrow, I promise to run over it with my snowblower. And lest we forget, the Ohio State game is scheduled to be on Peacock.
  9. Might be prudent to postpone this one. Attendance will be pretty crappy anyway if the snow doesn't abate tomorrow with the wind as forecasted. But that is the perspective of one who doesn't want to venture onto the front porch this morning.
  10. At least it is on Peacock, so I won't have to see it. NU 70, Purdue 84
  11. This one seems hard to pick without knowing whether either Rienk Mast or Xavier Johnson will be ready to go. I'll guess neither, and pick NU 69, IU 66.
  12. Just because it is a scope does not mean it is a rinky-dink operation.
  13. Hopefully Horace Ott will show up.
  14. Thanks for the absolutely most arcane bit of trivia I have learned in a long time. Horace also arranged Simone's "Wild is the Wind".
  15. Speculation is always fun, but we still have to play the games. For example, comparing our performances against Stony Brook (Mich State won by 44) (NU by 21) should lead to the logical conclusion that we would only lose to the Spartans by 23. Didn't quite happen that way.
  16. You might want to try this book. Book review: 'Greatest Season' a great book (journalstar.com)
  17. Especially semicolons.
  18. He seems to hold his own in international competition.
  19. How it worked for ticket holders or how it worked for tv schedulers? I think we know which group will get the greater emphasis.
  20. At least it doesn't stand for "Can't Jump". (Just kidding C.J., if you read this.)
