  1. Ticket sales vs. actual attendees. As suspected, people weren't showing up last season. People actually are this season. Make your own inferences on why that is, but it's a positive sign in the right direction: https://nebraska.rivals.com/news/big-red-business-fewer-no-shows-so-far-at-memorial-stadium
  2. And if you asked a school like Louisville if it was worth it, I'm sure (not publically admitting it) they would say yes. I haven't looked at the hard numbers for AD budgets or even the university budget at that school, but based on that facilities and contracts they have in place, they've grown their in to a level they likely never would have obtained without cheating.
  3. You're probably not far off. The ACC drops in my opinion without the likes of Notre Dame (only added them there since ND is in every other sport there). But I also struggle to take the Pac-12 seriously for awhile as they haven't had any legitimate contender for years.
  4. To take it another level... How does Miles' 7th year starting roster compare to the last coach's 7th year starting roster? (In this case, we have to go all the way back to Danny Nee.) Miles' 7th Year Starting Roster (2018-19): PG Watson (sr.) SG Allen (so.) SF Palmer (sr.) PF Copeland (sr.) PF Roby (sr.) Nee's 7th Year Starting Roster (1992-93): G Eric Piatkowski (jr.) G Jamar Johnson (jr.) G Erick Strickland (fr.) F Bruce Chubick (jr.) C Derrick Chandler (sr.)
  5. Coach K and Roy Williams don't seem to concerned about the trial: https://sports.yahoo.com/mike-krzyzewski-downplays-college-corruption-trial-blip-023757723.html
  6. Angels require a 2-hour written test for their coaching openings: https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2800949-mlb-rumors-angels-giving-manager-candidates-2-hour-written-test.amp.html
  7. It's going to take some time to get over the old school mentality and move into a culture of discipline and winning. https://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/a-northwestern-player-couldn-t-believe-nebraska-is--/article_0aacf3a5-5f94-5644-8aff-67a43d6d3360.html “Last year when things went bad, we weren’t trying to win football games; we were just trying to get through the quarters,” Bootle said. “This year things are going bad and we’re still fighting.”
  8. I also like to see if from the perspective of conferences. I feel like individual team rankings are overinflated for some conferences, which gives them higher rankings in the polls, but maybe that's just me. My take right this moment is probably: 1. SEC 2. Big Ten 3. ACC+ND 4. Big 12 5. Pac-12 6. AAC
  9. Interesting... Shavon was a great player. I could see him starting ahead of T-Allen, but don't think he would beat out Cope, Palmer, or Roby. Do you? He would certainly be in our "best 5" but not for sure it'd be in a "starting 5" role. I think the question is closer to "Would Miles start him because he's a leader? Or because he's more talented?" And I might lean slightly toward the former.
  10. And if you recall, we barely won that Purdue game in the final minutes. Had we lost that game, we're already more than 365 days without a win. A few games could have flipped last season, and this season is no different. I'd argue Colorado, Troy, and Northwestern could have flipped this season (Purdue and Wisconsin is a bigger stretch, with Michigan no even part of the conversation). Unfortunately they all ended up on the 'L' side so far.
  11. The three main things that come to mind for me are: 1. I would argue that Colorado would be better prepared against us if we played the Akron game. They were going off of blind intuition to set a game plan. So that one is still a toss-up to me. 2. If Martinez doesn't get injured, we have a chance to get 1 or 2 wins just from this alone. 3. If we did play that Akron game and we did win it, I have a feeling Frost kicks the field goal in overtime rather than going for the win. That monkey is very much on our backs and he was taking some risks just to pull out the win.
  12. Well...interim at least. But this weekend will be a an exciting matchup between Solich and C. Pelini: Oct. 20 1 pm CDT, Bowling Green at Ohio (ESPN3)
  13. Carl is moving into the green bowls: https://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/football/carl-pelini-promoted-to-head-coach-at-bowling-green/article_d054243a-b264-55f5-aa48-6de5c4c2609a.html
  14. This is the worrisome part. It's one thing to win some games in the AAC by getting into offensive shootouts against your opponents, but when you go into the Big Ten you can't win that way with a weak defense.
  15. Frank Solich: Hired internally. 6 years at Nebraska. Had some success with Osborne's players, but embarrassed by Miami and lost national title hopes. Fired because the program was "slipping into mediocrity." Bill Callahan: Outside hire who showed success in the NFL just recently having gone to the Super Bowl. 4 years at Nebraska. Brought in west coast offense, destroyed the walk-on program, and changed the entire culture of the program. Snapped the longest NCAA streak for most consecutive bowl appearances. Fired for going 0.551 in his four years at Nebraska. Bo Pelini: Back to Nebraska roots. Already won a game as a interim head coach at Nebraska. Defensive-minded guy who just helped LSU win a national championship. 7 years at Nebraska. One of only three head coaches (along with Nick Saban and Chip Kelly) to get 9 or more wins for 6 consecutive years. Fired for being hot headed, the audio tapes of him badmouthing the fanbase, and just not "winning the games that matter." Mike Riley: Unaffiliated with Nebraska. Mr. Nice Guy. Had some success in the CFL ranks along with the NFL. Surprise hire as he gone 29-33 in his final five years at Oregon State. 3 years at Nebraska. Fired for his lack of success on the field, shattering bad records that date back to the 1940s, and having the worst winning percentage at Nebraska since Bill Jennings. Scott Frost: Going back to the home grown Nebraska boy to help bring back a culture of winning. Came off of (according to the official record of the NCAA...which is kind of hilarious, but I'll just go with it) National Championship campaign at UCF taking the team from 0-12 to 12-0 in two years. First year at Nebraska. Followed the coach who had the worst performance at Nebraska since before Bob Devaney, and is expected to make miracles happen in the first 2 months into the season. I'll admit, it's real bad. Real bad. But let's give the guy a little breathing room and a little time.
  16. College Game Day sure thinks so... The media is all over this idea.
  17. Well...this. I'm fine with Frost burning the building down and rebuilding the right way rather than just putting a bandaid on it to protect your job. And that's why I feel the 7 year contract was a solid decision. But you're right. That only matters as long as we can get a pipeline of talent to rebuild.
  18. Agreed. I'm highly suspicious about what has been going on under Riley's watch, leading to a much bigger mountain to climb than we thought. And it's also easier to focus on the negatives with Frost when you're winless. But if we can take care of penalties and step it up on the offensive line and defense, we're closer to a 3-3 team. This year is a wash for me. Use these last couple months as a teaching moment and come back at it next season.
  19. You may have made history, Frost, with no Nebraska football team EVER going 0-6...but I couldn't be more proud of you. I'd take your team over the previous squad's any day.
  20. And now Oregon State writers are throwing it right back: https://articles.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2018/10/nebraska_coach_scott_frosts_re.amp On "Recruiting with Andrew Nemec" on 1080 The Fan, I explained why Frost's criticism of Oregon State is not only hypocritical, but also follows a recent trend of Frost hoping college football fans aren't paying attention when he delivered heaping helpings of revisionist history. Recruiting with Andrew Nemec (10:48): http://www.1080thefan.com/media/audio-channel/scott-frosts-hypocrisy
  21. Try looking up your UPS tracking number. It might say that it will arrive late due to a lightning delay.
  22. Yeah... but I just don't see it:
  23. I'm skeptical on what/who qualifies as "coaches" in this poll and how many people actually responded, but in terms of "beat job in the Big Ten," Nebraska was ranked 9 out of 14. Also, apparently there's nothing to do in Nebraska, so kudos to everyone in the state who does nothing very well: https://watchstadium.com/news/big-ten-basketball-coaches-rank-the-best-jobs-in-the-conference-10-11-2018/ 9. Nebraska (54) – The good news? The Cornhuskers have big-time facilities. The bad? There’s virtually no players in the state. Nebraska has been to the NCAA tourney just seven times in all, and just once since 1998. It’s a football school for sure, and it’s a tough job to be the Nebraska men’s basketball coach. Where they win: “The facilities are ridiculous. You can make a case that they are the best in the league. Fans also show up – because there’s nothing else to do in Lincoln.” – Big Ten head coach The knock: “There’s no players in the state, and probably just the perception of the state of Nebraska.” – Big Ten assistant
