NBA players get paid well for being away from their families on the holidays, office professionals typically get paid well for having to spend time away from their families over the holidays, even many hourly employees get paid overtime to work the holidays. For the student athletes, they just call it "Friday."

Kentucky lost to #5 Kansas, #19 Richmond, and Georgia Tech. Either Kentucky is losing to good teams, or they're bad. Or maybe they're having off games like Georgia Tech has had this season as well. The joy of college hoops, you really get to know the true identity of your teams come January. Time will tell.

I would very much argue "yes". Guess we'll see by seasons' end. Georgia Tech didn't even start full contact practices until after their first two losses, which was a mistake on the head coach. Granted, he tried to win the COVID mitigation game. Georgia Tech was also a NCAA tournament fringe team going into the season. And as it stands right now, per Ken Pomeroy, Nevada is #120 and Georgia Tech is #70 (Nebraska at #112 for reference).

Might be missing your point, but Georgia Tech is a much better team than Nevada.

It matters in college basketball when WE get left out of the NCAA tournament because "we" lost bad in the conference challenges and the conference NET rankings tank. That was a sad year. And that's the year WE won our conference challenge game and "we" got crushed in the conference challenges.
