  1. Lincoln East Spartans - 64 East Lansing Spartans - 74
  2. That would be an accomplishment for Hoiberg. Possibly. We haven't played an unranked Big Ten opponent so far this season, but it's not like his first two opportunities were major blowouts. Halftime scores were very competitive against ranked conference foes. Time will tell.
  3. Miles had 5 20+ point Big Ten losses in his 2nd season.
  4. Let's shoot for 50! Our shooting is what got us to 40 in the first place...
  5. We can revisit this in Year 4 for Hoiberg, but this is going to take some time to rebuild a roster and a system. Had low expectations this season, but the expectations I did have were centered around improvements in ball movement, shooting, etc. Haven't seen that yet, but Hoiberg's system enables him to adjust talent ok a roster more than keeping deadweight around for four years. So we'll see.
  6. Progress? We talkin' progress? Not the droughts. Progress?
  7. Think #5 isn't a realistic measurement, happens to the best teams. But like the list. Could argue part of #3, but you have to play a full 40 minutes; that's a "no" in my book as well.
  8. (All in jest) Weren't people complaining earlier this season that Nebraska never gets halftime highlights and praise during BTN coverage?
  9. That's a long, cold, walk to the car. Gotta beat traffic though.
  10. [Checks to see whether we're in the football thread or the basketball thread...]
  11. Those definitely got worse since the last time Iooked at those rankings a week or so ago.
  12. 21% FG and 15% 3 point FG... so we got better at the shot worth 1 point and worse at the ones worth 2 and 3 points. If we shoot 100 FTs, we have a chance in this game...
  13. Stability and improvement (via chemistry, shooting, etc.) were my key areas of focus transitioning from this season to the next. Not seeing it so far.
  14. Maybe we're just waiting to play our 20 minutes of basketball until the 2nd half this time.
  15. Yes, but I'd also argue we had more moral victories last season.
  16. Nothing to see here. Just your usual scoring drought.
  17. Right?? I mean, look at this suspension walker. Makes my heart sink every time.
  18. Not our opponent this year, but Omaha narrowly lost 60-58 to Kansas State tonight: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/game?gameId=401254055
  19. Interesting points on both sides, just bringing this board as an open discussion. ‘Mask Madness’ is NCAA’s latest reminder of just how greedy and awful they are: https://deadspin.com/mask-madness-is-ncaa-s-latest-reminder-of-just-how-gr-1845957358
  20. OT: just an interesting comment from Miles in his podcast (around minute 17): https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/texas-head-coach-shaka-smart-enters-mind-miles-to-talk/id1535840075?i=1000503639270 "Jim Molinari says, you know, 'We are who we substitute for' I'll never forget that one. So if there's an error like a turnover, ahh big deal; a defensive error 'Get him out of there! Get him out of there!'"
  21. I'm probably in the same boat. In terms of wins/losses so far this season it's aligned pretty well with my expectations. I wasn't focused on that either. I was hoping to see tangible progress on the court in terms of scoring ability, staying in tight games (win or lose), and see some chemistry with the team. I haven't seen a drastic increase in either of those areas. Sure, we've held close with multiple ranked teams, but the game is 40 minutes, not 20. If we blew competitive games around 35 minutes that's another story. We'll see how the rest of this season goes, but my expectations for 2021-2022 will drop if we're not seeing progress in some of the stat sheet. That would be a waste for such a talented recruiting class coming in; another "rebuilding" year.
