  1. I get that people are going to joke around....but the problem is, there may be 1-2 post in the thread that stay on topic that some of us may miss as we have to read through 2-3 pages of "inside jokes". I love the fun spirit of the board, but when you get excited to read what you are hoping is some "news" about the topic, only to find pictures and music videos, or guys chit chatting back and forth about nothing to do with the topic at all....Maybe I'm in the minority here, just my $0.02. Sometimes I feel like its 2-3 best friends chatting away about their lives and their jokes on a Husker basketball board.
  2. Swan, thank you SO much for trying to actually keep a thread on TOPIC. I love this board, but man sometimes I have to read thru 3 pages of 2 or 3 guys chit chatting back and forth with each other and making jokes. I would assume email would work well for that.
  3. What I like about that video is that Ed doesn't bring attention to himself on any of those big dunks he has. He just goes down court like he has done it before. I know Miles is big on high character guys, and I think Ed will be. You don't see him going off on twitter (and in fact I don't even think he does twitter, but could be wrong?). I really hope he has a great time this weekend and commits soon after the visit. Would be such a great get for NU.
  4. You can have your opinion about the MWC and AAC being ahead of the Big East...but the numbers from the 2013-2014 season do not support that idea. The Big East was 3rd in conf. RPI last year. The league has much less dead weight than any other power conference....the only team last year that looked worthless as a member of the BE was Depaul...every other school was either an NCAA tourney team, a legitimate competitor night in/night out during conference play, or a team that showed reason for optimism for the coming seasons. Top to bottom it is a high quality league where the competition among the teams is entertaining and meaningful. You are correct in saying that there's a perception problem with the new league. IMO this problem stems from the fact that, with Cuse Ville etc leaving the conference, the Big East is left without a lot of its programs that competed for national titles regularly. Neither Nova or CU generated much title talk last year and neither team made it far in the tournament, so the perception problem will persist until something changes in that regard. Perception does not equal reality, however. The reality is this: the Big East finished 3rd in conference RPI last year and we had 7 teams (in a conference of 10!!!)competing for tourney bids at the end of conference play, even with G'town catching some of the worst luck throughout the year and Marquette having its worst season in a very long time. Casual fans may not know/ care about the nitty gritty details but it is within them that the truth lies. The perception problems have not negatively affected recruiting or money so, IMO it is not a huge deal just yet You had 7 teams OUT OF 10 (in your words) fighting for an NCAA big......but the reality of it is that ONLY 3 TEAMS OUT OF 10 MADE THE NCAA tournament. Providence...lost 1st round, CU, lost 2nd RD, Nova, lost 2nd round. THIS is why people see the Big East (by name only) as more of a mid-major. Jays fans can keep telling themselves that they are in a power conference, but that conference lost its mojo as soon as it was started. (See ESPN 30 for 30 on the Big East). Don't get me wrong, its a step up from the Valley, but its not ever going to be seen as one of the major conference powers anymore. Not when you lose Louisville, UCONN , Pitt, Syracuse, etc....Those are the "Big Boys" of the Big East.
  5. According to Jeff Brozello he committed to Wichita State this morning...
  6. A guy that has been sitting by us for years at Husker football games would drive me nuts anytime something basketball related would be on the big screen. He'd make comments like "Yeah, like I'll ever go to a basketball game. They suck." Never failed, said something smart ass every time and every time it drove me nuts. I was unable to go to the game yesterday but next week I plan to go and I'm going to wear my NU HHC shirt proudly and anytime an NU hoops ad goes on the big screen I'm going to clap right in the man's face. I'm sure he loves them now that they had some success last year.
  7. Has anybody heard anything on how his visit is going?
  8. He committed to Missouri
  9. I've said it before, and I'll say it again.....I still think Tai is going to be damn good for us. He even showed flashes last year of getting all the way to the rim, but just couldn't finish at all. I think a lot was a mental block and his confidence went down. I think even this year we see a different Tai Webster and I can't wait.
  10. Aaron Brown of Southern Miss leaving...would be eligible right away.....Maybe Doc can hook us up? http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24663439/southern-miss-guard-aaron-brown-granted-release (I apologize if this has been posted already)
  11. I'm curious if Central thinks we maybe got in on White too soon as well? White was a top 50 recruit out of HS but was stuck behind two potential (Wiggins already) lottery picks and Self made it clear he wanted White to stay. Good get for Miles!! Hopefully up next.....Morrow and Watson!
  12. Reported NU has offered the 6'9 295 lb JUCO forward
  13. With the chance of Wichita State in the 2nd rd if we both win!
  14. Somebody on twitter ask Mike Schaffer his thoughts on White...he said from everything he has heard, he thinks NU has a great shot. So lets hope he is hearing the right things.
  15. Don't we have like 5 spots open next year? Why do people assume we can't still get some of the other guys? Unless my math is just GOD awful I still think we have 4 openings left. If Miles and staff see something they like in this guy, then that is all I need to know. Some of you are the same people that were writing off Petteway 2 weeks into the season last year.
  16. Not to toot my own horn, but I was a huge Petteway fan last year even when he had some struggles early...and I'm going to say again right now, that I think Tai Webster is going to end up being damn good for us. He will show progress this year, then be even better his Jr/Sr year. I'm talking B10 1st or 2nd team good. Just sayin...
  17. Whats exciting to me for guys like Walt and Petteway is that last year was basically their first full season of quality minutes as College Athletes. If Walt and Petteway continue to get better.....thats exciting news for NU fans. I think people forget that Walt and Terran were only soph's last year and basically freshman playing time wise.
  18. Was just on twitter that the NU vs Creighton game is in Sunday Dec 7th. Another "No sit Sunday?"
  19. Might want to hold off a bit before calling people out. We've been down this road before and been left holding the bag... That's why I put the "it may be a long shot" part But I hear ya.
  20. I would be beyong excited if we could somehow get Anrew White to come to NU. Sit a year, get used to our system and then blossom ala Petteway/Pitchford. For the "haters" on the board about the recruiting, this would be a HUGE get for NU. Now, it may be a long shot obviously, but if we can get a visit, you just never know.
  21. Not sour grapes.....but I wonder how much guys on the team like it at UNLV? Hopefully Cornish isn't a guy that is moving on before you know it.... http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24570046/report-unlv-starting-pg-deville-smith-leaving-program
  22. How about this guy? http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24569201/niagaras-antoine-mason-plans-to-transfer-for-final-season I'm sure a ton of schools will want him, but maybe we will have a connection somehow?
  23. Andrew White would be a HUGE get for NU. The dude is talented as heck. He would have to come here and sit a year, but then I could see him being a stud here. Kansas fans actually loved the guy, but he was sitting behind a few 4-5 star guys. Oozes talent if in the right situation. When I read Lee's write up today (as well as the post above) it got my hopes up about him. Would LOVE to see him in Husker Red.
  24. ajb, you beat me to the punch....we must have been typing at the same time
  25. kldm and uneblisnstu....You hit the nail on the head. First off, what killed Doc at times was he would just fill roster spots and hope it worked. Like throwing crap against the wall and hoping is would stick. Secondly, I would not be surprised if somehow someway we come up with a transfer. I could be way off, but I wouldn't be shocked if Miles pulls a rabbit out of his hat. He has always said he has a plan....maybe part of that plan is making sure late in the process he has a spot open to fill in case a transfer leaves a school very late in the process. Sure its nice to have all the scholarship spots filled, but at the same time, only about 7-8 guys are going to be getting regular PT. So if you have that one spot open just in case a "diamind on the rough becomes available" does it really kill ya?
