  1. Samford hit 8 three pointers. 6 of those were made by guys Shields was guarding, all after penetration and a kickout or a kickout and an extra pass or two - when he sees penetration he will always help out and leave a guy wide open. That includes the two late in the game, both times when the lead got cut to five - in other words that's what they went to when they needed it, they thought it would be there and it was. It's far from the first game that it's been happening, I'm sure it's in every teams scouting report.
  2. His highlights were not what I was expecting from his bio, thought he'd be a skinnier Nathan Hawkins. Instead he might be a taller Hersey Hawkins. Okay, maybe not quite that level, but wow.
  3. How about a comparison to the OU center, Ryan Spangler. Also 6'8", he's listed at 234 but he does look bigger, also a top high school football player except he was a QB. With the caveat that Spangler appears to be at a higher level athletically than Jacobson, but that's a fifth year senior compared to a true freshman. Hopefully he's not a 5 full time his whole career, but with Morrow and Horne also at the 4 the next three years there is hopefully some decent depth at that spot.
  4. When Benny penetrates and kicks the ball out, it generally does not lead to an open shot because 90% of Benny's drives initiate on the wing, not at the top of the key. 80% of the time he does not drive to the basket, but rather dribbles to the middle of the free throw lane about 10 feet from the rim. The weak side defender does not sag off his man with the drive starting on the other side of the court, and since he doesn't go to the rim he doesn't draw any help off any post defenders.
  5. Here's what some quick internet search engine effort turns out on him. He was born in Spain, and the family moved to England when he was 12. He tried out for the Spanish National U16 team in 2013 but doesn't appear to have made the final roster. Some video from that time is on youtube but it doesn't show much. He started playing for Modesto Christian HS in California last January. It is obviously a private school with an enrollment of about 350. He was the second leading scorer for a team that went 30-4, averaging 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2.5 blocks in 24 games. Their leading scorer was a 6'6", 215 lb kid who is currently averaging 5 points and 3.5 rebounds for a 1-7 Pacific team. He was listed on their roster at 6'9", 200 last year and 6'10", 205 this year. Through 4 games he's putting up about 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks for a team that averages 60 ppg. His rivals profile lists him at 6'9", 205. So, he's a 6'9" to 6'10" kid from overseas playing in CA who needs to put on some weight and keep developing some skills. That sure sounds a lot like Vander Joaquim, the one time Husker commit who did have a pretty nice career at Hawaii.
  6. Not disliking the big lineup. One way to see a lot less of #32.
  7. Lost at home to Maquette, they do not look like an NCAA Tournament team right now. Too bad we only get them on the road.
  8. Gotcha! Again, I'm trying not to come off as a jerk (which I know is hard to read behind a screen), but do those guys get NU to the tourney in the B10? I just can't see it personally. Now, I would like a guy like Eikmeier or Carr from the shooters standpoint. Maybe NU will go after the stud from Scottsbluff that dropped 52 yesterday including 10 3's? Too bad he's only 5'10".
  9. Best thing to do: drop them from the schedule.
  10. Douche bag is such...an...accurate phrase.
  11. By my count, when the backcourt consisted of Tai and Benny, the score was: Creighton 48, Nebraska 29. When the backcourt was not Tai and Benny, (including times when Watson or Evelyn was in to make a 3 guard lineup): Nebraska 38, Creighton 35. Not promising 100% accuracy on these stats, but the picture is clear.
  12. Hard to run a pick & roll when morrow can't set a pick without getting called for illegal screen And impossible to run with BP because nobody hedges against him.
  13. The run at the end of the half was with the lineup of Tai at 1, Shields 2, White 3, McVeigh 4, and whoever at 5. It was by far the most successful lineup of the night. And in the second half was it ever used?
  14. This is spot on. For example, Zierden knows exactly how to get open against Tai, to the point that Tai can't guard him. SURELY zierden isnt THAT good, is he? Or is he another one of those pasty iowa boys that always find a way to pummel us for career highs? #salty He definitely is not that good. But for two straight years he has lit up Tai, because Tai is more interested in helping out after somebody blows by BP than in sticking with the other team's best shooter.
  15. I'm not saying he doesn't have potential, that he doesn't have the ability to improve, and improve a lot. i think he can, and I hope that in a couple years he's really good. But right now - other than putbacks around the basket (some of which are pretty creative, I'd say) and pick and rolls to the hoop, he's not doing much. If he could hit a midrange jumper, it would be much easier to do it while being guarded by the opposing center rather than a wing or a PF. So outside of the possibility of running some high/low action with him at the 4, and improving with regard to offensive rebounds, moving him there does not help the offense much. Plus it would push Shields to the 2, and I'm not convinced that he's capable of doing that extensively.
  16. This is spot on. For example, Zierden knows exactly how to get open against Tai, to the point that Tai can't guard him.
  17. What makes you think with Morrow's skills right now he could play the 4? He's still a little small to play to play the 4, and right now he's got the game of a 6. (Yes, I know, there is no 6. That's the point.)
  18. AKA...the staff missed the boat. Per Khyri we didn't recruit him. Khyri looks awfully good compare to Miles holding onto the 13th scholarship...once again.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Can he defend the post?Thomas > Parker, Webster, Evelyn, Fuller.
  19. I was floor level tonight. They shoot well because we have no idea how to defend them. Maybe year 5 eh? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Heck lets just fire our first coach to get us to the NCAA's in over 20yrs. That's how we role. Isn't that the world we live in today? That's how we role at DONU.[/quote Roll, role, what's the difference.
  20. If you were looking for something positive you'd be hearing crickets. This one was pathetic.
  21. Making up statistics is fun. 75.3% of people aged 18-72 know that.
  22. We will be waiting until Miles moves on or gets fired. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk If he doesn't get it done in the next two years, that is what is going to happen.
  23. Morrow's offensive skills are offensive at this point.
  24. Start the f**king half with Tai and Benny again, get ass kicked. Lather, rinse, repeat.
  25. All that said, these refs are terrible.
