  1. I guess they are comparable; one was one of the worst moments of my life, while the other one was one of the best.
  2. John Bishop remains the worst radio play by play guy I've ever heard do a high school game. And still is the worst radio play by play guy I've ever heard do a college game. At least he's consistent, his afternoon show is unlistenable as well.
  3. Scheirman maybe got away with a hold on that play, he had both arms wrapped around the guy's arm preventing him from getting there, then quickly let him go to slip around and make the steal.
  4. THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE! I THINK MY TESTICLES ARE DROPPING!
  5. Did you tell him about our own legendary Beta Layupa Missa teams?
  6. 7. How would the FAU roster do if they were to play a 20 game Big Ten schedule? They would win some games but they would also take a physical beating night in and night out, that would take a toll. Their lineup tonight: STARTERS MIN V. GoldinC 7'1" 240 So. 29 A. MartinG 6'2" 210 So. 29 J. DavisG 6'4" 203 So. 34 N. BoydG 6'3" 175 Fr. 21 B. GreenleeG 6'0" 191 Jr. 21 BENCH MIN G. RosadoF 6'8" 247 So. 12 B. WeatherspoonG 6'4" 186 Jr. 19 J. GaffneyG 6'3" 185 Jr. 18 M. ForrestG 6'1" 174 Sr. 17 I'm guessing anywhere from 6-14 (if Goldin gets injured while getting the hell beat out of him) to 11-9. An 11 seed to an NIT team. And when they do hit the tournament, they're not used to winning. The 20 game Big Ten schedule is another hindrance towards tournament success; these teams play 21-23 games vs conferene opponents that they have incredible scouting reports on, then they play somebody new that plays a different style that they don't have a great scout on.
  8. The Legislature should decree that we don't claim them. Give that part of town to Carter Lake.
  9. I'd vote for the soul crushing blowout, if I was sure that their fans had souls.
  10. If I was in charge of putting out click-bait articles, the headline would read: "College Basketball World Reacts to Terrible Creighton News" The entirety of the article would be: "Creighton team plane lands safely."
  11. Moe didn't have a prayer after the Chinese turned against him....
  12. He did score two more points after his career ending knee injury - as I remember it, he came back in to try and give it a go and scored on the next possession, but went down again the next time down on defense.
  13. How many other schools have lost their all time leading scorer to an injury with a month left in his senior season?
  14. The Wisconsin AD might want to bring in the basketball version of Luke Fickell, and completely change the type of player they target. We shall see if that works for Fickell.
  15. Did it have "JANET" written across the top of it? That was an added touch to the story that I hadn't heard until a couple years ago.
  16. Rick Johnson is available.
  17. The receipt at the barbecue joint from Bill Byrne's interview with Bill Self that Bill Self paid?
  18. Gene Keady: 0 final fours in 27 years as a head coach. Gene Keady's college roommate: 2 final fours in 3 years as a head coach, and nobody remembers his name.
  19. Penn State's pitch: Look at all those empty blue seats! You'll never find any empty blue seats that are prettier than that! And if you happen to lose those empty seats don't get mad at you!
  20. Better start out 34-0 or else they'll be a 2 seed in the NIT
  21. The Flying Illini were pretty small up front; C Lowell Hamilton was 6'7", PF Kenny Battle was 6'6", SF Nick Anderson was 6'6", backup C Ervin Small was 6'7", backup SF-SG-PF Marcus Liberty was 6'8" (Marcus Liberty off the bench - the guy would have been one of the top 10 players all time here, and there he wasn't starting as a sophomore), backup SF-PF Andy Kauffman was 6'6". Gill and Bardo did go 6'5", 6'6" in the backcourt, backed up by 6'4" Larry Smith and 5'10" PJ Bowman. Their lack of size never really hurt them all year until there was about 4 seconds left in the season, when Michigan's 6'9" wing Sean Higgins simply went over the top of Nick Anderson to grab a Glen Rice miss, and then scored the game winner with time running out.
  22. Building a roster to win in the Big Ten is not equivalent to building a roster for tournament success. The Big Ten has a lot more size than other conferences and the refs let it turn into goon ball when you're driving it inside. Unless you've got the right jersey on or have built up some respect as a player, you're going to get the hell beat out of you if you take it to the hole (and also you're going to take a lot of hits on the arm when shooting 3s). Then teams get to the tournament, and all of a sudden they're playing smaller, quicker, more skilled teams that run and press more, and the games are officiated differently, so you see a bunch of quick exits. Penn State got a 10 seed playing small ball, and Maryland wasn't huge, but they were the exception.
  23. I will be a huge fan of the San Diego State - Alabama winner next weekend.
