uneblinstu's post game chatter: vol 5, ed 3 - Valparaiso
trickey replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Andre seems to get penalized for being big...on the play you describe, he was standing still for 2 seconds and the little guard ran straight into him and bounced off like he hit a brick wall....no call when an OBVIOUS charge/foul decision was required (Officials took it more like football, No harm, No foul)More disconcerting was our offense against the zone...if Valpo would have went zone earlier/more often, we are not as happy tonight. Easy planning for Coach Miles, as he will not have to worry about finding things to work on. And he has a decent victory to savor...while we get ready for the far BIGger tasks ahead. Overall, good game. -

Well, Nevada common knowledge has the Huskers as 5 point dogs with an over/under of 124.... That does not look good for Huskers or Runzas. However, I'll go with NU winning 71-69, because I like dogs and Runzas. -

Posted Yesterday, 07:43 AM Norm Peterson, on 02 November 2012 - 12:23 PM, said: I came away from that Texas game thinking Durant was maybe the best player I'd ever seen at Devaney. His shooting touch was remarkable. Not to mention his athleticism and ball-handling for a guy his size. Mitch Richmond was another one who I thought was frustratingly good. Good size, great strength, and you couldn't stop him, you could only hope to contain him. Blake Griffin I don't think had a great game when he was here but he was another fantastic player. Pretty much the same answers as what everyone else had. We might not have had those guys but one thing that being a Husker hoops fan has given us over the years that our neighbors to the northeast wouldn't have shared is the quality of players we've been able to see coming into our arena. Who's the best player ever to play at the Civic? Larry Bird? A great player, to be sure, but their list is a bit shorter than ours. Please recall the Kings of Kansas City/Omaha fame played at the Civic...so NBA talent came in regularly (6 or so games a year for 4 to 6 years in the mid 70's...the Kings had Nate Archibald,...a great guard , who led the NBA in scoring and assists to become the only player to win the titles in both categories in the same season. They also brought in all their NBA opponents!Discounting the pros there were good players at the Civic. From non league teams I recall a great game at the Civic involving Sam Lacey, who played for New Mexico State and later the Kings. The Valley players included a lineup I would love to have...Larry Bird, Antoine Carr, Xavier McDaniel, Hershey Hawkins, Kyle Korver. You will never confuse me for a Jay fan...but the truth is the Civic saw plenty of talent...and you need to give that it's due. -
boomer...if you want to upgrade your seats (perhaps..pay more) you should still contact the ticket office to discuss options that may be open to you...if not, you are correct you will be in a comparable seat assignment.

Five pages of the eight page section are dedicated to Creighton Two pages for the Huskers And one for the Mavericks I can't wait for the day we warrant more attention. They mention David Rivers has gained 20 pounds in the off season and Dylan Talley lost 15.

No game in Lincoln so I am not in Lincoln...but you made me wonder, do you ever do this in the Omaha area? If so, announce it. -
It appears we are currently operating with a completed outhouse... The penthouse will take more work. GATA!

I hope the seats are used...and not just a ruse to stand in line for the next year downtown, as it could get pretty quiet at the Bob during the last few years!

I have speculated that Biggs will hold out to see if his buddy, Akoy, changes his mind to go to NU. Early signing period is 11/14 to the 21st. Biggs could play in the exhibition on 11/7; miss the Southern game and be ready to play 11/15 if Akoy submits the expected LOI to Louisville. My guess is...If Akoy signs with Slick Rick, the chances of Biggs playing this year increase substantially....no inside info used here, just using my old guy logic. I hope he gets to redshirt!

Here’s the NU press release: “If you wanted an opportunity to try out for the Nebraska men’s basketball team, a mandatory informational meeting will take place this Thursday, Oct. 25, at 3:30 p.m., at the Hendricks Training Complex. “To attend Thursday’s meeting and attempt to try out for the basketball program, you must be a full-time University of Nebraska student taking a minimum of 12 hours in the fall semester and must bring a valid N-Card to Thursday’s meeting. At the meeting, candidates will learn about the tryout process and how to join the Husker basketball program.”

I will guess he averages 5 to 8 minutes a game.

While we quickly get off topic with the bus driver/bi**h video...Note,this action would feel good, yet it is a pretty dangerous response...as the instinct/action that would feel ssooo good and work pretty well if the driver hit a male...backfires when used against a female. My 4 decades of criminal/divorce trial work have long since taught me these momentary "feel-good/justifiable moments" are followed by the loss of a substantial amount of liberty/job/property/etc. In addition, this one was like a heavyweight squaring off with a bantamweight. (as many of these male/female cases turn out to be)....Most judges have a hard time overlooking the 50 to 100 pound difference. Watch and learn from what happens to this guy in the long run...his life will be substantially diminished...Right or wrong, her initial action will cause this driver to be punished substantially! At least, that's my bet. Even if he wins a trial...think of the attorney fees he will spend. If this type of action is tempting...save yourself thousands of dollars in attorney fees and check your anger...(Imagine that...an attorney trying to help you not run up legal fees!) That being said...Thanks,Norm and CWG, I enjoyed viewing this guy going old west in response!

Norm, You need to move into Selleck and head up the Redzone!

Thanks...you have made this site pretty awesome...but like the Pentagon, it takes some time to figure out how to get around.
-
Thanks...I will learn...but slowly, as I went nearly the first 50 years of life without touching a computer...so sometimes it is not 2nd nature. Will the view new content bring up items from Fall Sports etc if and when that gets going...or just men and women BBall?
-
Now that I have read the women's side also, I see this forum is there also...so I am wondering why...or perhaps a new site glitch?
-
This is more a HHC site question from a newbie...but shouldn't topics for the women's team be in the separate Women's forum titled: Husker Hoops Central's Nebraska Women's Basketball That is labeled "The forum for discussion of the women's basketball program at the University of Nebraska". There could be people that look for info on Connie's team that may not check on the men's side.
