Another reason Rhode Island may have been scheduled
trickey replied to TheKamdyMan's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I think we kept hearing the innuendo that TS did not especially like his coach... Respected him a lot but no bonding love. Why, I do not know. Perhaps Kamdy or somebody else in the know could enlighten us. -
Interesting observation. I'm not sure if what you saw is what I saw, but it seems to me like TM got off to an awkward start. It's almost like he feels obligated to entertain everyone. That is the first time I saw a him pressing a little bit. Believe me, I've been all aboard the Tim Miles fan club, but I can't help but wonder how he is going to come across to fans when an 8 game losing streak comes around when it's not expected. If you coach in a tough conference like the Big Ten long enough, it happens to every coach. He will handle it like Izzo, Coach K and Self do... They will never let it happen.

You know what would be REALLY, REALLY cool?

Remind me not to watch NU's Elite Eight game with you! If we make the Elite Eight? Seriously? I'd be too busy pinching myself to worry about whether we're winning or not. I'd be like, "Ah, Walt just missed that shot ... BUT HE MISSED IT IN THE ELITE FRICKIN' EIGHT, BABY!!!" You are lying to yourself... Imagine we are alive during weekend #2 in March...you would be one of the most rabid fans on this planet. While I agree you, me and virtually everyone here would be thrilled to lose in this position (if we are making this deal today)... But if it comes to Sunday in week 2...you would be about the last person who "wouldn't even care what happened after that." Accept reality...you are a fan...and you care...a lot! No matter when or where we are...so, don't kid yourself! By this time in the tournament, you may be convinced we are going to win it all! And I may be telling you how right you are! Perhaps a better query is...Would you rather make the Elite 8 or win the B1G regular season trophy outright? Yeah,...I know...a true fan answers .....BOTH! -

Great clips in the video from the good and the bad...but mostly VG!
-
As long as the final 8 teams are included there...I agree!

When we play Hawaii, the tickets may be tough but not impossible. But the rest of the time (from what I have seen in prior years on TV) good seats should be readily available. Yet, I acknowledge I have never been to this tournament live...perhaps others should also opine.

It'll be tough. Omaha is the ONLY site west of Louisville, KY other than Portland/Seattle. You're going to want to be a 4 seed at the minimum to feel like you have a better than average chance at getting sent to Omaha. For selfish reasons I've been hoping they end up in Portland Yet, if you are selfish from a team point of view...you want Omaha's home court advantage for YOUR NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS!

I anticipate and appreciate this hour-long documentary that will air immediately following the Nebraska-Northwestern game on BTN (app. 9:45 p.m.) Extend your DVR setting. http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=209705472 http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/btn-to-debut-unbeaten-documentary-on-life-of-husker-qb/article_3c6ae61e-4fec-11e4-8a8c-0017a43b2370.html

A TM story from Grand Island Independent: http://www.theindependent.com/sports/hamar-miles-puts-nu-back-in-business/article_6520a384-4e96-11e4-be4a-f77f88b3d967.html One interesting perspective from Beau Reid: Reid has done a complete 180 on Miles since Tom Osborne hired him to take over for Doc Sadler. Reid was asked by a newspaper reporter about Miles at the time, and Reid said he had never heard of him, and he expected the Huskers to bring in more of a big-name coach with the new arena opening that fall. “I’m happy that I was completely wrong about that,” Reid said. “He’s awesome.”

I am not ready to hand the east crown to the spartans....to many people seem to be counting out osu. I am not predicting sparty loses...but I am not ready to give them the crown either. NU's goal should be to smack (week by week) whoever they see...then take care of business in Indy against whoever shows up.

Once again no Indiana...but good looking otherwise. My wife surely will not like how often I want to drive to Lincoln in March! texASS in town (Please win here!) http://www.huskers.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=100&SPID=33&SPSID=103&DB_OEM_ID=100 http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=209701809

Here is a Big Red Report on Terran...nothing breaking news style, but good pub can't hurt. http://nebraska.scout.com/story/1461042-brr-profile-terran-petteway?s=204

This evening USA Today came out with the Huskers also in the 24 position. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2014/10/06/college-basketball-countdown-no-24-nebraska/16802167/ Somewhere between 11 and 24. After years of feeling like a spectator...I suddenly feel like we are on the launch pad awaiting the countdown to liftoff. "T minus 30 and counting." Shorty Powers "The fun is about to resume." trickey

ROYALS! WOW!
-
Alex scores the 4th Royal run of the game! 4-1 bottom of extra. Keep up the D! Great baseball games in this series...win or lose. But it is a lot more fun to win!
-
Once again...I hope (because the game is still going on) 12:14 a.m. Once again the late inning long ball...this time way out of there! The Royals could be a team of destiny!
-
I believe this is the 1st time that a team has gone into extra innings in their first 3 games...at least if I can believe the TBS commentators. And if we can beat H Street...so much the better! Go KCR!
-
Small dinger is accurate...barely out, and an OUT in many parks! GO ROYALS!

Miles/Nebrasketball Presser - 10-02-2014
trickey replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Does that mean he would be eligible to be a graduate transfer? Not that I think he would do that, but I imagine a lot of big-time programs would be interested. He is absolutely thinking about transferring to... the NBA. -
Tonight...(OK, let's say this morning) the ESPN crew mentioned that the best player in college football wears number 8 at the 2:42 mark of the Oregon game! However, they failed to mention the uniform is outlined in scarlet and cream...(Not black and pink, angel wings or some other goofy Gotham theme.) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2218299-how-ameer-abdullah-went-from-forgotten-alabama-recruit-to-heisman-contender An interesting long quote from the article: Pelini, not one for extravagant sales pitches and empty promises, entered Abdullah's home and got comfortable before the position talk began. "He kicked off his shoes like he had been living there for seven years and put his feet up on my table,” Abdullah recalled. "I'm like, 'Look at this guy.' That's who Bo is, though." "He didn't promise me a thing, which was really odd," Abdullah said. "He came to my house and offered me a free education and an opportunity to potentially play on this football team. He left it at that, and that really sat with me. That's really what attracted me to Nebraska." http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fbigtennetworks.files.wordpress.com%2F2014%2F09%2Ffearameer-mov-still001.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fbtn.com%2F2014%2F09%2F27%2F377148%2F&h=720&w=1280&tbnid=9uuwa7tgqcdVJM%3A&zoom=1&docid=FOFPtQPeQQgYgM&ei=yT4uVNf0NM6OyAS37oCQCw&tbm=isch&ved=0CD8QMygsMCw4ZA&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=1350&page=8&start=141&ndsp=19
