Big Ten Men's Basketball Schedule, 2020-21 Announced
hhcmatt replied to hal9000's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Home and Away Michigan St, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Penn St, Maryland, Purdue, Illinois Away Ohio St, Iowa, NW Home Michigan, Indiana, Rutgers -
Robin is saying we're playing South Dakota on Dec 1st and Creighton on Dec 11th. He's also saying we have Florida A&M lined up so they're probably in the week of Dec 13-19
-
We already know that Nevada is playing W. Kentucky on 11/25. According to their schedule their other game is 11/26 so that must be when they are playing us. Seems like we'll either take on the Dons on Saturday or Sunday.
-
If you look at Creighton's schedule really the only open early spot is between Kansas (Tues, Dec 8th) and Marquette (Monday, Dec 14th) Splitting the difference would be Friday, Dec, 11th. We have a game vs GT on Wed, Dec 9th so either Friday or Saturday. Their conference schedule only goes to Dec 23rd. Depending on what we have going on maybe we can also jam it in there on Dec 26th or so

2021 SG Keisei Tominaga - Juco - LOI
hhcmatt replied to uneblinstu's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2020/11/18/basketball/nebraska-coaches-keisei-tominaga/ Genuinely shocked to read that the Sadler-Gillespie apparently had nothing to do with Tominaga signing here -
Huskers to Play in Golden Window Classic **Update**
hhcmatt replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
This isn't a Nebraska event so the games that don't feature Nebraska will not be on the BTN and I doubt any of the Nebraska games as part of the event will be on the BTN. Most every team in Div 1 is going to be playing on Thanksgiving week so I would expect that the majority of these will be on a a stream that one has to pay for. The McNeese St game, which isn't part of the event, should either be on BTN or BTN Plus. -
Believe he has Andrew White to beat out for that title. AW3 had a 58.8 eFG% and a 61.4 TS% (True shooting percentage factors in FT makes into your eFG%)

The impression I'm getting is that Matt A isn't really 'coaching' which would basically rule him out of any sort of Power 5 job. He's making Horizon League HC money here. He could easily leave for an assistant job somewhere else but seems pretty unlikely he's leaving to be a head coach anywhere.

Any home game we have will be televised it's just a matter of if you and I will have to pay extra for it. -
Huskers to Play in Golden Window Classic **Update**

Looking around LSU has games on their schedule for Wed, Thursday, and Saturday Western Kentucky has games for Wednesday and Thursday. They are playing in a different tourney on Sat. so they're only playing 2 games. We now know we have a non-tourney game vs. McNeese St on Wednesday. -
HC Fred Hoiberg (my notes in italics) Schedule We have a game lined up for Nov 25th and then 2 games lined up for the Golden Window Event. Seeing that the team for the 25th will be McNeese St. We also have Creighton and Georgia Tech which means there should be 2 other games, assuming a 20 game conference schedule. Waiting on the Big 10 and then hoping to announce the schedule in the next 24-48 hours. Wonder if some of that delay is either for the number of games or else when they will be played. Had an inter-squad scrimmage with B1G refs last week and will have back-to-back scrimmages this week to prepare for the season. Teddy Allen put up 29 points. Recruiting class Keisei Tominaga: HCFH thinks he'll be one of the best shooters in the country next year. Impressed that even though he's the focal point of the opposing team's scouting report where teams don't leave him and he has to take difficult shots, he still made them at a high percentage. He's played on a high stage so D-1 won't be too big of a moment for him. He's an incredibly popular figure in his country. Name is pronounced 'Kay-Shay' Wilhelm Breidenbach: Told a story about WB standing out among a group of top recruits at one of the first events they had went to as part of the Nebraska staff. He's a guy who is 6'10" , incredible passer who can pass with both hands, can pop to the top of the floor and knock down shots, can initiate offense, and has a high motor. Bryce McGowens: Talked about how this was a program changing signing and how Trey McGowens was able to sell him on what Nebraska has to offer in staff, facilities and playing style. Matt A. Always worth a listen because it gives you insight into why he's such an elite recruiter. He's mostly painting a vision here but otherwise here were the few things that seemed the most noteworthy Needed a translator initially with Keisei..."didn't speak a lick of English". Was impressed that he was able to make the transition from Japan to Ranger, Texas and still play at a high level. Wilhelm brings the skill and versatility at the center spot that Nebraska needs to execute the offense at a high level. At this point he's not even close to reaching his potential. View full article

Preliminary starting lineup for 21-22
hhcmatt replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Lat will most often function as a 4. However, there have been indications that we will play small at times and he would function as our center. Another way to think about it, in terms of minutes per game, is how many MPG will we average where we don't have a traditional center on the court as that will eat into all of those guys' minutes. -
Andrew White + ballhandling skillset

I'm running the 4 corners offense with no shot clock on this!

Huskers to Play in Golden Window Classic **Update**

Not sure if anyone noted this but Illinois State dropped out. I suspect that the main reason there hasn't been any announcements on the schedule for this event is because of the volatility -
I don't think Nebraska has some meaningful advantage in terms of revenue from endorsements. Sure we work with Opendorse but so do and will other schools. In terms of someone looking to 'Elbert Robinson' their college experience at no point is a 10 minute pitch about earning potentials going to outweigh a duffel bag with some cash in it because why not both? I put this stuff in the shiny arena/practice facility stuff that is more of a secondary selling point for the majority of guys.

Preliminary starting lineup for 21-22
hhcmatt replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Keep in mind that Andre's competition for playing time is not just Yvan...it's Yvan, Walker, and Mayan I feel like you could take this entire argument and substitute in Jordy Tshimanga. Is freshman year Jordy playing 10-15 minutes for our 20-21 team? -
2017 PG Parker Stewart -> Pitt -> UT Martin -> Indiana
hhcmatt replied to trickey's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Absolute tragedy, Parker Stewart's father and coach, Anthony Stewart unexpectedly passed away at the age of 50. -
No rush, we have all the materials already from the other never-built statues

Any chance McGowens ends up on the McDonalds All-American team?

Since the dawn of the ranking system, he now becomes our highest ranked recruit. That honor was previously held by Glynn Watson.
