  1. Never thought I would see him at the 5 in the league but he actually looks pretty good there--Timmy was a visionary. Weird seeing Roby guard Gasol though. He did well.
  2. I just wanna see the kid yanked from the game if he blows an assignment or doesn't box out again. Tell him what he did and then send him back in after he thinks about it for a minute. He does some good things on D, too, but you are entirely correct that he has a lot of terrible JUCO habits in his game that need to die off.
  3. Teams aren't going to be able to double Teddy next year. He's going to score a ton in isolation as the #2 or #3 option. He'll also play more in the offense with Walker this season. I'm very optimistic about him so far offensively, but defensively he's really hurting us and needs to step up his effort.
  4. Kid is a freakshow. He and Trey are going to be a blast to watch together.
  5. Very Banton-esque skillset, but probably more of a 3pt threat. Good looking prospect with a ton of skill at 6'9".
  6. I disagree that it hurts more than it helps offensively. He’s kept us in games single handedly on that end this year. That said, with Walker, this offense moves like it should, which means less iso ball and more wide open Lat threes. We aren’t going to need any heat check threes from Teddy anymore because the offense works now, but I think he fits the offense really well and made some great plays gong to the rim tonight.
  7. He’s a really good player—quite a bit better than I was expecting. He was dominant in stretches on both ends. And he can pass!
  8. I’ve never seen a player that is more dynamically bad on defense and good on offense. We need his scoring, and he’s actually pretty proficient when he doesn’t turn it over. This is the first night where his defense went from bad to a serious liability.
  9. That’s right. My bad! Thanks for the correction.
  10. 1. Walker might be our smartest player. He’s a basketball player on both ends—strong and athletic to boot. 2. I said I’d wait until tonight to judge the team’s potential this year, but now Yvan is out. 3. Teddy’s defense—effort and execution—is absolute trash. 4. Trey needs to switch permanently to PG all game. We can always run the half court through Dalano but Trey is as good in transition as any guard in the conference. 5. I love the 6’9” - 6’9” PnR. It’s deadly and helps our offense so much with Walker diving to the hoop. 6. Nice game from Shamiel. Looked like his best game as a Husker to me. I think we’re about as good as Indiana talent wise. That’s a big improvement from last season (despite beating them). They couldn’t miss in the first half. That was the difference. Gotta start getting Trey going in transition early if we want to beat anyone. I almost wonder if the game plan is to have him go nuts in the second half. It’s a brutal pace.
  11. Marc is listed at 6'11" and 255, I believe. His big bro is the one who is 7'1". Garza has 10lbs on Gasol.
  12. Oh gotcha. Understood. I thought you were piggybacking off the one who thought I was being facetious. We shall see, but I think Garza will be a much more polished rookie offensively than Gasol was. I think Garza's PnR defense has improved quite a bit, but he's not on the same planet at Gasol there. I was thinking more in terms of offensive mobility. Garza is a tad bigger, maybe runs the court a bit better, but Gasol is a smarter defender.
  13. Really? I think Garza is a very good passer from the post.
  14. Dude read one line above this response. I wasn’t being facetious. Marc Gasol has had a fantastic career. I think Garza will be better because he already has 3pt range. He’s an excellent NBA prospect.
  15. It wasn't an insult! Gasol has had an awesome career.
  16. 6’5” and some serious all around skill. Yes please.
  17. Sparty has two NBA players in their starting lineup, from my eye test. We played well against them. They'll be a dark horse by the time the tournament comes around, just like every other year. Izzo is just the best. He's my favorite coach.
  18. Sorry if the humor was lost on you. Seriously, it wasn’t meant to be snooty—calling an opinion poll answer correct is pretty sarcastic. The team that beat Indiana last year could get some wins. That wasn’t the team for very much of the season. Not sure I’ve been any more of a Kool Aid guy than any other fan. We’ve looked exactly how I thought we’d look minus making shots. I thought we’d make more. I was wrong. Hopefully that trend changes and we win some games. We have the athleticism to beat anyone if we make shots.
  19. I'm glad most of us voted correctly. The team that played MSU would butcher last year's roster every night.
  20. If you listen close, those were some damned good answers. I'm liking this kid a LOT.
  21. True. Mentally, there were lapses and that comes with newcomers. Transition defense is actually really difficult to teach and think Doc is as good as it gets teaching it, so this will improve. I thought our half court defense was really, really good. MSU played well and executed their offense perfectly at times and we still made it hard for them all game. That’s the first time I’ve seen defensive rotations we’re capable of making with our athleticism. It was perfect yet, but it was night and day better.
  22. Yup. Horford may be a great thing fir Roby. 1–awesome vet to learn from and 2—not very durable so Roby will get minutes.
  23. First, no worries, but dude... you gotta stop with the extra emotional wordage about what I’m actually saying. He *has* played terrible this season. I never said “he is down right terrible.” I’m not shitting on him. I’m observing his play because we’ve all seen him do great things. That’s just a fact. I think other posters have been mean/personal about it, and that’s annoying (he’s a great kid), but I’m not one of them. I never said he’s a terrible player! I think he’s our most skilled and smartest player, and I expected an amazing year from him in this offense. In fact, I still do. I think he’s gonna heat up like he does in practice. The problem is Fred was relying on Thor to flat out make threes this year because the five out offense absolutely depends on it at the wing. Because that hasn’t happened, he’s had to do some shuffling and put Kobe at the wing rather than at the backup PG. Now we have Trey at PG and we might be onto something with iso 5-out since we have no assassins from 3. If we ran a 1-4 high like MSU, Thor would be absolutely invaluable. But we don’t, and until he regains his shot he’s a liability in a 5-out offense, because he cannot make up for his lack of outside shot with isolation buckets. No one is pulling for the guy more than me. He’s one of my favorite Huskers ever. I don’t think anyone who feels that way is delusional, and I’m sure there’s some consensus there.
